WARNING! THIS VIDEO IS NOT EDITED AND CONTAINS SWEARING FROM THE START..SORRY! OK so I swore a little here. This particular trail is found in Glaisdale on the North Yorkshire Moors Nation Park. It is a steep climb up a rocky gully that picks up the Egton to Rosedale Road. The Himalayan tractors upto the top. Pace and momentum again are key! A few bad ruts at the start and end. Quite technical i...

ABR23 - Festival. A really great few days of riding, socialising and being outdoors on the trails at the lovely Ragely Hall, Alcester. I rode down with my mate Ade on his CRF300 Rallye, both bikes loaded up with tools, spare tubes and camping gear, there was quite some weight on the bikes, coupled with the fact we had new nobbly tyres fitted, roundabouts certainly were interesting. We rode the ...

Could you please let me know where you got your folding gear change for your Himmy THANKS
Can you ride it?
How do i find these places?
how s your donkey holdin up? rackin up 40'000km annually here, 40k in, gonna hit 60k this year, so far all good!
Hello there approaching 40km very very good, I've recently had a leaking head gasket that was an easy fix and wheel bearings but overall still running very very well
@@Leafster1973 i did swap my rear wheel bearing, as someone prior to me simply put in one that straight up didnt fit
It´s a mess of Himalayan... :D but if you are fine with that, fine for me. It would gain a lot if all this mods would be cleaner.
Looked like great fun splashy splashy 😅 Question: were you running an open intake plate or the original ‘snorkel’ one? Drain hose looks worthwhile mod 🤔👍
Open intake plate, with a hiflo oiled foam filter. I didn't I have the usual plastic sheet wedged down the front side of the airbox. So I think water has gushed down the side and into the air intake. I've since done another wet ride with the plastic sheet and no water ingress. The foam filter worked very well.
HOW! can You be sure that the spacer is placed correctly once you add it like a spices ??? :P
Glue the spacer onto the valve.
Is there any details of how to fit a grease nipple to headstock? Sounds like a sensible modification.
nice work - I agree - these electrical bits need some loving to keep them reliable
Welding an extra piece on to the Lextek baffle is a great idea, I might do the same to mine. Interested to know how the sound changed. From your comments, it seems it's certainly worthwhile doing. I would also prefer mineto be quieter, but still have that nice deeper sound. plus, as you say, the massive weight saving. Cheers for the video...Jon👍
Cheers Jon, the extension removes the loud barrrp! Still sounds nice but a little deeper rumble . Make sure the inner end of the baffle is closed or blanked off, so it's not an open pipe.
It was a great day's riding. Ade is a little tinker 😂😂
😂
Top rideout, great watching! This right here is why I bought the himmy … what do you reckon to the new 450 ?
Cheers 👍 the new Himmy looks exciting, a refined machine for sure.
Nice explanation. Got the same job coming up for a Versys x-300. Don't think there's too much difference in the forks except on this versys I aim to take out some of the preload.
I turned up at my local Royal Enfield dealer the day before yesterday and he said "you're brave" cos it was a bit damp and quite cold (for round here) and the place was deserted. It's nice to see other people out and about on two wheels out of season 👍. I was thinking of changing out my two for a couple of TKCs but, after watching this, now I'm not so sure 🤣😂😆... (agree with you about the Mitas E-09's 👍). Thoroughly enjoyed your mud bath expedition! Happy New Year to you too, only 12 months late 🤣😂🤣😂 🥳
Happy New year! Safe riding 👍
At 28:40 : "Oh fuckin 'ell.. hello!" Classic 😆🤣 Thoroughly enjoyed your video and wish I'd been there too; 🤙👍
🙈
Just got a 2021 Himalayan myself so will be giving this one a go when I get some time. Based near Halifax (Cleckheaton) so couple of hours away but looks worth the trip out. Great videos and very informative 👍👍
Enjoy 😊. They are great bikes, simple maintenance and preparation makes them reliable
@@Leafster1973, looking forward to giving it a good ride out. Only had it a week but changed tyres for some TKC80’s and put 30 mm bar risers on, so not fit for testing.👍
Good post.
nice lane -
bloody ell, nice improvements - still got it?
Yep, still going very well, check out latest upload, 😊
Were you not supposed to use stiffer springs too? Once you drill the extra holes the stock springs are likely to become too soft.
No, as the valves control the compression damping not the preload. I have fitted stiffer springs because I'm on the heavy side. But if anything the valves increase the stiffness and reduce the softness of the damping especially on rough roads.
Is that in Cumbria?
It is!
improving like a good red wine! Did you put the stock rear wheel back in?
I actually forgot to mention about the wheel! Good observation. So a spoke snapped on the 18 each wheel and with it being a custom wheel a replacement spoke wasn't cheap! So I decided to fit the new tyre on the 17. I've still got the 18 , just needs repairing
Interesting :) will got mine in a month. Can you add a post or a video where you put a link to your different mods? Like accessory bat behind the wind shield, USB charger, front suspension,... Thank you and enjoy the rides :)
OK mine has done 22thou,, and was really runnnin ok until the last storm last week. My rear brake master did the same thing (replacment £8,50) I,m runnin Kenda tyres (ok for the price) The bike been runnin sht this last week... so today I charged up the battery,,it was low ,then noticed the terminals lose.. so took out the battery to find one broken termnial,,no sweat I needed another battery anyway( but the really shit thing is I have a spare Lithium battery but its too tall ) I going to take to the dealler and get it serviced plus new chain and sprocs and battery. I swore I was not going to get a new 450,,bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbut now I,v seen it ,,I quite like the look,,,but will be keeping my old girl until about 40thou regards
Mine used to misfire in the wet especially after jet washing. Turns out it was a loose HT lead in the spark plug cap..I've since sleeved the entire HT lead and plug cap in a rubber tube, and it's never misfired since. Even in torrential rain and being almost submerged off road. Loose connector's are easy to fix. Waterproof all the connectors helps too. Lead Acid batteries only for me.. can't jump start lithium. The new 452 looks cool too, hoping to see it at Motorcycle Live
I've crossed the River Dove at that ford. It gets deep(above spark plug level) and quite rocky on the far side. Go in a wide arc. The guy in the house is a top bloke, very helpful if needed
Excellent helpful video - time for me to get drilling! Thank you
Very down to earth..pun intended. Better contact with the early 😊. I have a sprint 955 and wanting to do the same. Thanks I learnt something watching this.. the Rod holder m8 shaft. Not sure what to use for the 5mm ends but I'll find something. Good info about the 8mm holes. I agree about making the emulators adjustable but you'd have to perhaps cut a lug and groove into the spacer and emulator 😮 to stop it turning as the detents would cause bit to rotate instead of adjust. Given these bikes take pillion and or luggage, the load on the suspension can change markedly and I'm not sure preload is the only adjustment you'd then need to make.. Anyway I learned a few good tricks. Thanks. Subscribed

Nice gnarly trail and proper Yorkshire commentary! 👍
Great vid
dont even think this a great road, its actually shite dont believe the hype
Great video. Do you have the gpx file for the route. Cheers
Hi Dean, Great to meet you and do this ride with you. Simon
Hi Simon great to be in touch and so nice to meet you both I enjoyed the company Thank you. Hope we can meet again 👍
Very nice but… do you still have the himmy?
Yes I still have the Himmy! Very much so and no plans at all to replace it. Infact shortly I'll be taking the Himmy on the trails again very soon 👌
Riden it many times and driven it in a car 3 times, once with snow on the top. Always spectacular. Nice camera work, captures the experience properly
Great ride. I did it in reverse up to Torridon when I was staying with Mike H at Tyndrum, long day.
Hi Deano , I’m 6 ‘4’ tall, I intend to fit the same Enduro bars and bar raiders as yourself, do you have to have longer cables? I’ve done the seat modified gear and brake levers to suit my large touring boots 🥾.! John
Hi John, I fitted a slightly longer clutch cable, about 7 inches longer I think, that I purchased from Hitchcock's motorcycles in the UK.
@@Leafster1973 Thanks for your reply, I assumed I’d need brake and throttle cables as well! John
Good Video.. Rolling on a Meteor 350cc here in Thailand and loving it.. Hope to get a Himmy when funds permit... Holding fire until i get a close up look at the new 450. 🎉
I sold my himilayan a week before abr for a Africa twin but I think I would have had more fun on the Himalayan that day but to be fair I am a big lad so I needed a bigger bike
hi thanks a lot, let me know, i havent understand wich rear whell is it? is it a 4.00 18 from an other bike? or fully handbuild, rim? thanks, julien from france
Hand built

Where do you buy the preload spacers for the front shocks?
Enjoyed that ... Looks like the tricky sections were made more difficult by congestion and being unable to get some speed up. 👍
awesome bike good job! was wanting to try that snorkel foe myself. i did some searching and cant seem to find the rubber gasket you used. do you have the size or a link by chance? thanks!
I made the gasket from an old inner tube 😄
@@Leafster1973 ah smart thinking
@@Leafster1973 hey sorry to bother you again. i still cant figure out what you used for that plate that you attached with the three washers. is that plastic? and what's the size you got?
Is there anyway to add the preload cap and the fork extender?
Not without some machine work
Love the Vid...I have the kit coming. Can someone post the TEC and YSS install directions please?
very well done of yours.. liked it
Hey, can you share the model number or link to the steel bars (I want to mount navigation on those) that you've got behind the windshield? I find it very hard to find one that would be at least acceptable, and yours seems to be just perfect fitted.
Hi. Can you give us some more details for the mods to the baffle ie what length is the extension? number and size of holes if any Etc Etc ideally a picture Keep up the great work cheers
