Making new stamps and ink pads for old mechanical stamps
I fixed up some old mechanical stamps by replacing the stamp itself and refurbishing the ink pad. So much fun!
The stamps were made by hand carving from a pink carving block with a lino cutter and by laser cutting a rubber sheet specifically made for the laser.
For the ink pads, I removed the old interior and used double sided tape to stick some felt in there. Add some stamp ink (you can buy refill bottles at the stationary store) and you're done!
The beautiful exacto knife I'm using is by Ergo Kiwi: ergokiwi.com/

Making a changing robe | Summer sewing project
zhlédnutí 6KPřed 2 lety
Swimming in a lake is great, but there's no changing rooms. So when I spotted someone with a changing robe, I just had to make one! It's pretty straightforward, since it's just a large rectangle of fabric with a neck hole cut into it and sewed closed at the sides. This is a very simple sewing project, great for beginners. I sewed it up in the morning and went swimming that same afternoon! Ways ...
Making a camping kitchen
zhlédnutí 4,8KPřed 3 lety
I needed a camping kitchen for in my tent, and wanted something easy to carry and set up. So I took inspiration from an old chest my grandpa used to hold camping gear in his car. Based on this design, I made four crates, with some small adjustments to make them more usable for my particular situation. Screen printing with a vinyl cutter
zhlédnutí 6KPřed 3 lety
Recently, the maker community lost Sharon, known online as Figments Made. She was a treasured member of our community, a true maker at heart, and ever ready with words of praise or encouragement. May her support, kindness and enthusiasm be carried forward by all of us to keep her spirit alive. To remind myself of her and process her loss, I printed a shirt with her logo on it. I only needed a c...
How to glue up a puzzle without a backer board | Tutorial
zhlédnutí 456KPřed 3 lety
Most jigsaw puzzles I take back apart when I finish them, so that I can do them again another time. This one was particularly difficult though, and the image is from one of my favorite painters, so I decided to hang it on the wall. I've seen people frame puzzles or glue them onto a backer board, but I really wanted to see if I could glue just the pieces together. That way it's really just a puz...
Making a TV cabinet out of old crates

I'm very fond of globes, so when I found a broken one at a second hand store I was determined to give it a new life. All it took was a shelf bracket, some spray paint and a bit of hot glue. Making a Plywood Bookcase / Roomdivider
zhlédnutí 4,5KPřed 4 lety
I've been wanting a bookcase for in my apartment for a while now and I also needed a room divider. So I made a design, bought a sheet of 18 mm birch plywood and made all the pieces fit onto that single sheet. This was my first time working with plywood, and I really enjoyed it. It's so even and stable, without any internal tension or other issues. It was also the first time I used sanding seale...

How to make a weighted blanket | Sewing project
zhlédnutí 20KPřed 4 lety
Weighted blankets are supposed to help with restlessness, anxiety and sleep. Originally developed for people with special needs, like autism, they are becoming more and more mainstream. They can get pretty pricey, but thankfully making your own is fairly straightforward. I was overly ambitious and made the compartments for the filling beads really small, but you can get away with much bigger on...

Making Damascus blades for my thread snips
Redoing the stamps was a great idea! That "postmark" idea would be great if you wanted to make some WW2 Memorabilia, postcards or similar
Brilliant! Thanks for the inspiration
Very nice, thank you!=D
Soooo how does all the white in between the pieces just disappear?
The glue dries clear 👍 Just make sure you pick a glue that does that
Love the video. I want to try that someday on my favorite pants and jacket.
Wow. Clever. Thank you for sharing. You’re a great instructor! 🌷👏
And muslins are the way to go! Look how much denim you would have wasted if you hadn’t!
Great video! You did a good job! Did you press your seams as you went?
Simple and easy.
Awesome!
Por favor en español.
Thank you! You just simplified things for me for my grandson's minecraft quilt. It'll be different than this one, but I love the way you simplified something that looked a little complicated. :)
This is brilliant. I was halfway through the process and couldn't for the life of me think of a solution for the overlapping pieces of hood. I love the pleats placed away from the zip. That's an excellent solution. Thank you.
AWESOME!!! I'm going to do this today!! AND add some machine embroidery on each side.
Very helpful ty
Love your puzzle! What is it called?
Im so glad that I searched for this otherwise I would have forgotten to put baking paper down... would have been fun try to get puzzle off board 😂😂
Great video, thank you
totally agree! making trial patterns is the way to go to check for fit, after my third pattern adjustment, its about right to commit to making my pants!
you are such an angel for making this tutorial. I’ve been struggling with learning to do proper zippers for ages and no one has put it in this simple of instructions. 😭❤️
Podría cambiar el idioma a español
Kun je ook je strijkijzer met de stoomstand gebruiken met deze mat?
3 minutes later and my hoodie is FUCKED lmao
Un pied circulaire aurait été plus simple à déplacer, non? En l’inclinant, on peut le faire rouler sur lui-même. Bravo pour la débrouille!
Thank you, this was a big help
0:25 The "special" puzzle glue is nothing of "special". It's just "methyl-cellulose", which is (clean) "paper powder". Basically, you're putting a thin paper layer on top of the puzzle, so thin it's almost transparent. The "normal" glue will yellow in time with the sunlight, so I wouldn't recommend using it.
LOVE that you did a TARDIS
Nice tutorial❤
I'm about to start messing with glass engraving for the first time, and no lie... I chose your video first because I saw the TARDIS 😹😻👍
I've just started wild swimming in the UK and this is exactly what I need to make. Thanks Ellen.
So clever, very nice. A joy watching the video and your voice is very soothing. Thank you for the video. Now to buy a sewing machine 😅
Why would anyone glue it from the front?!?!? A travesty
Im not really sure but i think its because theres space between the pieces in greater than the back, it helps with the sturdiness of the puzzle
a naive question: would it be easier to make the individual squares and stuff them, and then attach all of them in one blanket?
great tutorial. ill be trying this out. thank you :)
What kind of zipper did you use…?
You make it look so easy 😊. I love that ! Easy For You 😂. Well Done !
Thanks for your informative videos Ellen, they were a great help
Thank you. I am making myself eyebrow stamps cause I am tired of drawing them on the way I like😂
Cape sleeves (half-circle) would be perfect for this. More room and more coverage. We may see something from the side through those large sleeve holes.
You can make the brim insert by painting glue (or cornstarch/wheatstarch/rice starch paste) onto a thick piece of fabric, or a few layers of thin material. Other than that, good video.
Thanks! ❤
Excellent! Thank you
I have been looking for this video for a while now, thank you so much, there are hardly any others on YOU TUBE! WOW, this was made 6 years ago? There must not be very many people who sew their own things out there, I find that hard to believe. I loved how you put your own labels on your projects, very cool and loved the bias tape tutorial as well. Awesome job. ❤❤❤❤❤👍🏼👍🏼
watcheduse b4 neat idea use small drill bit for the nail holes E 6000
Super helpful. I've bee searching for a zip hoody from my favorite bands, but there aren't many options. Now I'll just get the one I want and ADD the zipper. Thanks for making this video.
Nice work 👏 👌
THANK YOU! This is a great tutorial, very informative. I'm not ready to make jeans yet but I am hoping within a year (or two)
Thank you!
TollerTip!!!❤
