AMOY Quick Stupid Review: Harley Benton SC 500 WH Guitar - good guitar, but how cheap is too cheap?
I've seen a number of reviews of Harley Benton guitars, but I've never had one myself. Now I have one. I bought this guitar specifically because it looks like one of the guitars that was used by Randy Rhoads; namely his white Les Paul Custom. Unlike a Gibson or even an Epiphone, this Harley Benton is unbelievably cheap. I really can't figure out how they can make a guitar this good (it's good, not great) at such a low price. Makes a feller wonder...

AMOY Quick Stupid Review: Charvel Pro-Mod DK24 HH 2PT CM - really becoming a fan of Charvel guitars!

After decades of playing, I finally figured out that I'm a super-strat fan (duh). No surprise then that I've been gravitating towards Charvel lately to satisfy my super-strat itch. Another gift from my awesome family, this Charvel Pro-Mod DK24 HH 2PT CM in Satin Burgundy Mist is a great, versatile guitar straight out of the box; if not a little bit pricey ($1100). I've been using this Fender Player HSS Stratocaster for the past few years and it's everything you would expect from a made in Mexico (MiM) Fender. @keithavarney170 Před 14 dny

      Yes... but I would recommend, for a beginner, to go to a local music store and try out some guitars before buying. The problem with Harley Bentons, in the US at least, is that they have to be ordered from Europe and the shipping cost is a fair percent of the total cost of the instrument. You can find a $200 Squier at most music stores in the US and they are GREAT instruments for beginners. If you are in Europe, then this would definitely be a good guitar for a beginner.

    I´m still watching review videos on Squier guitars, and read some comments talking about guitar condition being a disaster. I´ve seen your unboxing and review video and decided to buy me this one pink HT single humbucker one. And also im living in Germany, i got the same condition. Guitar was ready to play from unboxing, just tune the strings and go. Great fretwork, no optical mistakes or bumps, neck is pretty good, actually amazing for this price (i got this guitar from thomann for 169 € , ca. 180 $) if i read comments on "cheap" guitar reviews, it seems that people expect way more from cheap guitar as from fender or gibson, and yet some guitars are truly overprized , you can get a really bad Fender Player for almost 1000 bucks, and nobody is talking about that. but same people are screaming when they get untuned Squier...

Haven't had to break out the Fender yet, although I have a really fine one in the OHSC (that GC exclusive in 2007-2009 with the red cherry mahogany body, love it too).

    Either Squier have improved their quality control or you got a bad example. I picked up an Affinity PJ bass recently because I was impressed by how well made it was and how playable. Sure, I can see where money has been saved, but I have no problem at all with build quality or the sound - the pickups are ceramic but remarkably aggressive and responsive - which has been much improved by a good set of flats. Perhaps you should revisit this review with a different example ?

    • @keithavarney170
      @keithavarney170 Před 16 dny

      Yeah - I just un-lucked into a bad one. I should have returned it. It's the only Squier I've ever gotten that disappointed. There are some other Squier reviews I've done that are much more positive, including one for the Sonic P-Bass - I've even used that one recently for band practice!

    • @Kevin-mx1vi
      @Kevin-mx1vi Před 16 dny

      @@keithavarney170 I must admit that I'd only buy a bass that I've actually had in my hands and played, if only to be sure I'm not getting a "Friday afternoon special" like you got. But here's the thing - both of my Squiers (CV jazz bass and Affinity PJ bass) are much better made instruments than my rather valuable 60's classic bass, even though Squier/Fender market them as "beginners" basses. Modern manufacturing techniques have really improved what you can buy for a modest amount of money these days.

I'm looking for those when I'm out and about, but every Gretsch or other Filtertron equipped guitar I play seems to fall short in some area, thus so far I haven't thrown down on one yet. It has served me quite well, through the years, and has been my go to guitar for open mics, and jamming. This is an excellent guitar for beginners, and makes a great first guitar for anybody. Sounds great, built solid, and won't break the bank. I can't say enough good things about i!🙂🤘👍

    Is the neck actually slimmer compared to other precisions?

      I don't think it is. Seems to match up with my old MiM P bass pretty well and definitely not as thin as a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass.

    I ordered the white one with the black pinstripes and it arrived yesterday. Huge Avenged Sevenfold fan here and I gotta say, this thing is amazing. Hands down best guitar I've ever played. The neck is the best neck I've ever had in my hands and the tone is just all kinds of awesome. Very well built. My favourite guitar that i own is my Schecter Omen Extreme and this ones just came along and blown it out the water. My dad played guitar and he started showing me somethings and trying to teach me guitar when he got cancer because i moved back in with him to look after him. He passed away not long after being diagnosed so i only knew the open chords at the time and maybe a couple of scales. He'd also been listening to Avenged Sevenfold for a few years from hearing them through me (he loved Richie Blackmore, Gary Moore, Carlos Santana, Brian May, Slash, Angus & Malcolm Young, Dave Murray & Adrian Smith) but he really liked Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeances and said they're his favourite modern day guitar players, to my suprise (even if he did used to joke about their names being dumb lol). Anyway, i always wanted to get a Synyster Gates guitar but wanted to wait until i felt like i was good enough to deserve it. And I'm absolutely gutted that he's not here anymore because he would've LOVED this thing. Great video by the way!! I've been telling everyone that they're not just for teenager's some of the older metal heads would definitely get a kick out of playing one of these bad boys too. Just not a lot of people are willing to give them a try because Avenged Sevenfold get so much unnecessary hate, I don't know why people hate them, I think they think it's cool or something. They make excellent music, are amazing live and they sure as hell know how to play their instruments. Always doing something new and exciting too. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

    Hello first of all,🎉 I've been following you for years, and for me you're one of the most likeable people on CZcams who conveys everything so authentically with love and heart. I have a question about the new Squier Sonic Precision Bass! Of course, the name Fender is used to advertise the subsidiary company 😊 But I can't find a single German review about this bass. Everyone swears by new innovation, the Squier now has more strict quality controls, even with the 189 bass, and from the factory you hardly need to adjust anything anymore, for the most part the sides and high edges are well sanded, it sounds very close to the original. Now I was torn between Harley Benton's JB-75 and Squier Sonic Precision Bass. JB75 - HB Reason Purchase 99 percent only positive reviews including CZcamsr excellent machining, high-quality brass parts Squier Sonic Reason: Statements Original on the fender sound Good middle, deep, long sound when hitting the ball, clean without crunching (only claim) and work from professionally tuned neck bundle neatly without sharpening and good height (also claims) My question is that with the Squier you pay for the new bass model just because of the name fender on the guitar, which costs 189 Or whether JB75 is better but only cheaper because no brand pays? I'm confused and only have until tomorrow to decide Thanks in advance ❤

    This guitar caught my attention browsing for a shredding guitar with 24 frets and Floyd rose. It looks like everything I want. Great review!

    Maybe it's just me but the instrument looks just a hair smaller than most Precision Basses. I'm probably wrong.

      If I recall, I put a ruler on it and it is definitely a little thinner than my MiM P-bass. Didn't actually check the width or height though. Interesting...

      I've gotten a lot of comments (below) from people who have ordered this model and had no issues at all. If you can find one at a local music store, or even have a local store order one, you can try it out before committing. And, for the most part, if you get one that has issues, you should be able to return it. Just be aware of the return policy from wherever you order it from. Best of luck!

    I have a '95 MIM P-Bass and having owned several US made P-Basses, the MIM is my favorite! I'll have to check out the Sonic!

      The Sonic compares well to my '94 MiM P-Bass. Had to make a few neck adjustments as it gets used to the dry climate here, but nothing crazy.

    I have a 69 Fender Precision w/Jazz Neck, Ocean Turquoise, block inlay on rosewood neck/bought at the music store I worked for in 1969. 2024 and Fender Custom Shop says "Sorry we won't touch it because you don't have a receipt"; although I do have owners manual with name of "E Paxton", only Custom Shop in Colorado is HB Woodsong, Boulder. I thought Fender had control of their channel. I believe HC Woodsong is telling Fender that no receipt, no work. You Better Think Twice/POCO

    The Axcess is the best of old and newer features. You really can't beat the fact that it actually will hold tune thanks to the Floyd, and not having that big neck heel in the way.

      I've been using the standard with my live band recently but find I like the "simplicity" of the Custom (no piezo pickups) even more. Then again, we don't play much that needs them, so...
