They had A LOT of sky islands initially, and they said they had too many, that it was bogging down the framerate and it wasn't very fun to travel because there were so many, and because so, there was congestion, so they scaled it back to create more space and more sky/air so to speak.

I suspected the alternate timeline theory as well, though, if the world transforms around the people, at the point of Zelda traveling back in time, which is what happened...the geoglyphs appeared out of nowhere, the sky islands appeared...it was all dependent on Zelda disappearing, so it isn't alternate so much as it is rewritten, and the world transformed around them, noticing the changes as they happened and the sky barrier breaking open as well it seems, once Link completes the sky island tutorial area and the Light Dragon is visible to everyone else. Then of course, you run into the issue of Ganondorf knowing Link and Zelda's name at the very beginning which would necessitate Zelda having already gone back in time...oh no i've gone cross-eyed....

The “illusion” with the mural of Ganondorf was probably made by creating the eye shape using a concave shape with the internal edges acting as mirrors to reflect the image. This is also how Shara Ishvalda from Monster Hunter “tracks” the players camera and not the model

I played totk first and then botw. I did notice a few of the invisible winds in totk, but in botw I reached the limits of this unknown world twice, when I was exploring the gerudo and it said I can’t go any further, and the spikes by the akkala labyrinth 😅

I have found the room where the moblin is with a royal guards spear at 29:20, its pretty much underneath zeldas tower, if you check the castle map its on level B3 and its the room on the left side thats supposed to connect to a hallway but the path is blocked off. The room has a royal guards bow on the bottom section and then theres a chest with a royal guard claymore hidden in the rafters but thats about it

The water near where you can find the great flameblade has hearty salmon in both if the games, its only one of 2 places that even have hearty salmon in botw as far as I know, there are at least 3 spots in totk where you can get some hearty salmon. Its a pretty rare ingredient especially if you don't know where to find them

There are reasons why animals would defy the whole eyes on the side/front paradigm. For humans, which are monkeys, as well as extending to other monkeys, this is because binocular vision is superior at judging distance. This is not only helpful for catching prey, but also for judging jump distances. Even by the names alone, I kinda like the ideas behind the two substances. ‘Malice’ literally means hatred, so it’s fitting that it’s the one that more aggressively kills the player, while ‘Gloom’ leans more toward sorrow, perhaps Ganondorf has been sealed for so long, being eternally kept from his goals that maybe he’s starting to break, and his vitality-filled malice has cooled off into gloom, and Gloom kills the player a lot slower, as if it’s the physical manifestation of languishing alone.

The bit with how the red/ice lizards swap out is NOT useless. I had used this previously to farm up all the necessary tails, as those swap-outs were the most bountiful source of either.

There canonically is other areas outside of the Hyrule we can explore in-game as evidenced by Yona who is from another domain, Penn, and wherever Kass has ventured off to. But I wonder if it is considered “Hyrule” but it’s just a different island with a different domain and wherever Penn comes from. Orrr is it called something different. Is Hyrule like a country, a continent? And those characters are from different countries or continents?? Did people flee to these other lands 100 years ago during the great calamity?
