How bout this version by my sweet friend Amy McCann! czcams.com/video/zQzJn0UXWpE/video.htmlsi=I5Uw86VuJbVaVOjX
That was sublime, the bass was just outstanding. Sandy would be delighted, Simon's guitar was lovely. Thank you.
Wonderful !
What a great version. And how moving to hear it the day after we lost the great Gerry Conway. So nice to be reminded of this wonderful drummer's prodigious talent. RIP Gerry. Condolences to the whole Fairport family.
Wauw, what a cheery song, thank you for sharing
A perfect song.
But the Lief and Leige version remains the best.
Definitely very much better than this one with its silly reference to IKEA.
This is my favourite piece of Fairport music. I much prefer it to Ralph McTell's original. Blasphemous, I know, but there it is.
A great very old song. This is a chaotic rendition.
Sandy Denny is the only version I'd listen to.
I enjoyed the song actually, I stumbled upon the song whilst watching George Gently and a very good singer called Ebony Buckle sang it and played the violin too. Both very well.
This band which I seen live in a very anti Protestant band anti British and pro IRA I was so shocked when I seen them in Liverpool, I couldn’t believe it to be avoided at all time. I love the British people and all who stand with us.
Song’s been changing for hundreds of years. It’s still changing. Stop complaining.
Just simply a brilliant story-telling song. Fairport is spectacilar!
Excellent ❤
Amazing, in every audition!
This is an excellent performance of this iconic song that somehow merged the old with the emerging new back in the day when Fairport Convention, along with Fleetwood Mac and other innovative bands brought a transcendental presence to an idealistic age, at least for some of us who had a dream, as Joni sang about Woodstock. I am not the nostalgic type, and that is why I appreciate what Simon Nichol, Dave Pegg, and Fairport do here playing "Fatheringay".
Written by Ralph McTell.
머나먼 한국땅에서 당신들의 이 처절하고 아름다운 노래를 듣고 있는 팬이 있다는 걸 알아줬으면 좋겠군요
Beautiful song nice to hear Peggy ..
Probably the best live version of this song I've found. While, technically, not being the acoustic version I was seeking it's a wonderful rendition of what is probably my favourite FC song. And I noticed a few comments applauding the sound quality... I'd like to add my appreciation of whoever mixed/recorded this. It is exceptional. Quite splendid.
Excellent comment - totally agree! What a wonderful story!
Wow where are you Sandy…..
Very nice..... until the bass comes booming in and overpowers everything else !!!
Every millisecond hits me. Great great version and song.
Hello, what is that 8 stringed instrument the man on the right is playing? Sorry, I don't know his name. What a band though, sheer excellence. Can't stop listening, , , aargh! Help me, , , Best regards. 🙃
Hi I’m not 100% sure but it looks like a bouzouki which is a kind of lute, and the gent is called Chris Leslie in case you’re also interested
Ah, okay thanks. Best regards. 🙃@@ohbugger1648
Oh Fairport! I accidently saw you in 1969(?) at the Fillmore East. So lucky to see you. Fullhouse was the album I bought. First of many. God bless you all.
Come on people, these people play real stuff. Royal navy dude, John Babbacombe. Three attempts at hanging for theft? Hmm?
I believe I saw Fairport on their first stop at the FILLMORE EAST. I was a blues man, Saw this Band and was mesmerized. Still am. I shall never forger their song SLOTH, "Just a roll on the drum and the war has begun". The Viet Nam War was going on, I had just been told to go to the draft office.
What's that srange guitar the big man is playing, beast regards.
It's a parlour guitar, similar size guitar to most guitars before the 20th century. If you're playing through a pick-up you don't need a large bodied acoustic.
🥰 so long ago 😶🌫🤫💋❤🔥😭😭😭🥺
Oh and by the way...thank you Mr Conway. Enjoy your ‘rest’.
Great stuff Mr Pegg and Mr Leslie. I wish this was available On DVD though.
Sandy I miss you although its 50 years since I first heard you sing sing this.
I've always wondering why in the early years Simon Nicol was on the background in the band, but he has been the backbone of the band after all. Great guitarist, great vocalist. Great band.
Is this available on DVD?
Still great
such an incredible song. i listend to it for years and the found out the real story. the true story left me with vivid images
unforgettable
Csodás, mint minden meghallgatáskor!
Love them
no matter how many times i hear this song it gets to me everytime
the bass line on this version is absolutely stellar
I just love this song.
Disgusting lyrics. I'm shocked a song like this can be written, let alone performed.
It's irony. They are subtly taking the piss out of such attitudes. My children sussed that on first listening 😂
Briwiant
Brilliant, the Ikea curtains had me roaring with laughter x
SAME
Came here from a collection of Fairport songs. Exceptional !!
This is a superb version.
Well done, that was truly beautiful. You really did Sandy proud here.
Possible origin of the melody of 'house of the rising sun'
