Making the Invisible, Visible | How Delta Protective Services Uses Silvertrac
We asked Lawrence Borgens - founder of Delta Protective Services - about the process of switching his security company from paper incident reporting to Silvertrac. Delta Protective Services (DPS) was founded 26 years ago in 1993 on a mission to “create safe communities in Northern California.” They have since grown to an operation of 85 officers, including standing guards and mobile patrols. Lawrence is focused on growth and making it easier for people to become customers.

Let's talk about how qr codes are easily copied and if you use nfc tags through your app it cannot be used with iPhones! Oh, wait, there also seems to be nonexistent software support and scheduling software. We had high hopes with Silvertrac but it failed worse than many lower end software that is our there. There's some great features, but be sure to have them clarify how exactly you are supposed to figure it out.

I worked the grave shift for 21 months before giving a chance to move to the swing shift. I did grave because it offered me $ 600.00 per month over another scheduled shift. I was getting Monday and Tuesday off. When you submit a guard, nothing, you are going to have a high turnover.

I have seen many securities companies that will only hire ex-military or law enforcement to ensure they get good people that are serious about the job. To be fair if you're paying minimum wages expect low-quality guards to give you minimum effort.

Correct, I'm a veteran & a armed G officer. Florida, since 2000. 22+ years. I have gone from 1 post to another but the industry is very fickle. Guards in 2022 are 📉. Military recruitment & law enforcement agencies can't staff decent applicants so who do see security firms hire? Or worse, make supervisors, senior managers? I make decent wages in metro Orlando but it's not like a deputy or police officer.

Every security job I’ve quit and the main reason I’m ultimately looking to leave now is because of the non-existent work life balance. When you’re frequently having OT shoved down your throat and up your ass simultaneously and find yourself working 12-16 hour shifts 11 days in a row yeah you’ll have people quitting. No reasonable person wants a job where they’re never completely sure if they’re going to be able to clock out and leave at the end of their shift or if they’re going to be forced to work something crazy like 16 hours out of the blue. People have lives and obligations outside of this job

    • @judgeparker2767

My shift is 730 pm to 330 am. I work out of my vehicle and once my time is up I drive home. We don't work over 8 hours ever and OT is not an option, which is fine with me. I get paid to watch movies all night.

I'm told to do hourly patrols so my DAR usually looks like this Sites name. This is a guard post. Badge number. Date and/or dates. Start date. End date. Start time. End time. Shift number of devices. Keys. Radio or communication device . 0500. Arrived, conducted meet and greet of employees, and conducted patrol, observed main post. All clear 0600. Conducted patrol, observed main post.... And more similar to this including if I see a odd car in the parking lot or a person that shouldn't be there always greeting with the smile on my face unless somebody makes me have to talk to him still calm but with more of a concerned look not aggressive. PS I'm just a no name guard

This is some primo corporate talk and circling in a wide berth around the central issue with the security industry which will always be pay and benefits. If you fall within the 99.5% of employers where these two factors are abysmal considering living costs and long term financial goals. You can dress up the job as 'challenging' and 'creative', you can put stripes on my shoulder, and you can have as many company luncheons as you want - ultimately, if it doesn't reflect on the pay/benefits, it's lipstick on a pig. As the saying goes, you pay peanuts you get monkeys, which leads to client/revenue loss down the road and good employees quitting. BUT, employers usually chalk that up to 'the cost of doing business' as there's a sea of potential clients they can milk and guards that will work for a skeleton compensation package, and so all that's done is another client is found/guard hired when the well's dry.

Some other reason right here 1. Account Manager has no idea what they are doing, and/or they don't learn about the account they are over seeing. 2. Short in security officer up to clients approval, and keeping security officers that are just a huge liability 3. Account manager making security guards write a report of what to do for emergency response so that he can read with no explanation why they are doing it. 4. Hiring people of the same category and training newly come security officers that shows no interest in their work or what they are doing. 5. Account manager just randomly giving his guards overtime without asking them before hand or the day before. 6. The security company fails to provide what they have talked about, making all the good guard know that they are just full of BS 7. A good security officer who left on good term with the client is willing to help cover shift, and security company does not want him there even when the client wants him back. Shows that the security company managers cared about placing the people they like not what the good guards like. (literally giving the good guard the same BS) I am in my 5th year with the client company I have worked for and loved to come in for. I know everything about that building. But since the new security company takes over on my 4th year there and we transfer over. I am also one of the best and 2nd last officer that has been there the longest. They are just giving us loads and loads of BS. Now I am consider quitting the company and getting a new job by the end of the fall season.

I worked as a call in guard for 1 month then I got placed at a school for 3 days well they really liked me there so they asked my bosses to put me there full time. Of course I agreed. My problem was the school didnt have anything. No Silver trac no DOR/DARs nothing. So I did end up getting them to get me paper DOR/DARs because i caught a kid with weed and had to call the police but now im dealing with finding electrical wires hanging out of the wall and bolts lose and missing from the hand rails and im just wishing i had silver trac to take pictures and report quickly cause i also send messages to the custodians and they usually fix it quickly or order the parts for it. POLITICIANS SHOULD GIVE SECURITY OFFICERS A BETTER MANDATORY PAY RAISE AND MORE AUTHORITY'S EVEN IF IT MEANS MONTH AND MONTH OF EXTRA TRAINING AND CREDENTIALS. I BELIEVE SECURITY WILL PLAY A GIANT ROLL IN OUR FUTURE AS OUR ECONOMY SLOWS DOWN AND WAGES STAGNATE PEOPLE WILL BE MORE LIKELY TO CAUSE DAMAGE OR BREAK LAWS. SECURITY OFFICERS ARE THE REAL FIRST RESPONDERS HELPING CONTACTING MEDICAL OR POLICE HELPING OFFICERS WITH ANY ASSISTANCE OR TAKING CARE OF MINOR OFFENSE KEEPING OFFICERS FREE TO DEAL WITH WORSE EMERGENCY. IF THIS KEEPS UP SECURITY OFFICERS WILL PACK UP FOR A MCDONALD'S JOB WHERE AT LEAST THE MINIMUM IS MUCH MORE THAN ANY SECURITY WORK OFFERS IN MY AREA. POLICE DEPARTMENT WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE EVERY DAY VAGABOND, SOLICITORS, THE OCCASIONAL CRACK HEAD HARASSING TENANTS OR THE CRAZY HOMELESS THAT YOU TELL TO LEAVE 10 TIMES A DAY 5 DAYS A WEEK. IF SECURITY OFFICERS DONT RECEIVED THIS AUTHORITY THE GAP BETWEEN LAW ENFORCEMENT AND EMERGENCY RESPONDERS THAT NEEDS TO BE FILL DURING A DISASTER OR EMERGENCY SITUATIONS IN AMERICA WILL BE FILLED BY EVERYDAY CIVILIANS INSTEAD OF SECURITY OFFICERS LIKE THE NATIONAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE PASS DURING 911 STATED.
