Politics and sports - a winning Formula?
The American elections are in full swing and Donald Trump seems to be popping up at all the big motorsports events. Is Joe Biden missing a trick here? Republicans have NASCAR and Democrats could very easily 'have' Formula E which now races in Portland. But it doesn't look like the administration or Joe Biden knows that Formula E even exists.

We will make sure he doesn't escape
i think crypto and any form of gambeling sponsors should be outlawed. But most sponsors arent advertising to the F1 fan since 99% is irellevant for normal people. Its more like they are advertising to other Buisnesses.sponsers
That is an insanely short track! I've been on go-kart tracks that were longer 😂
Hi Toni! I found you! Love your content. I thought I was the only political nerd that also follows F1. Looking forward to your interview with the Ferrari guys
Why los angeles daytona was better
thank you for all the information...
Great 👍
i love this content! and am definitely finding a way to go to the formula e race in portland!
I hope you can make it happen - prices are really affordable, most of the time. And thanks for the kind words.
Formula E has been consistently unable to use Formula E races to raise awareness of Formula E, I don't see how Biden engaging with it really gets him anything. I like FE, I want it to succeed, but it has no fans and no relevance outside of a very niche community.
I agree partially (actually almost entirely) - but FE does have very vocal and dedicated fans and it is the most relevant motorsports series we have today (how can it not be). But you are spot on in that it seems to struggle to create hype and excitement around the series even though the racing product is soooo good.

I'm surprised that Tesla, BYD and other EV manufacturers haven't entered this championship and only the legacy automakers and their customer teams.
I HATE BENJAMIIN
Put away the phone and just enjoy the lap.
It was my literal job to film and document the lap but thanks for the tip
This was absolutely surreal to do and I was left speechless. Thak you FE for making this happen
Do they all speak in code then ?
F1 teams going to cause WW3 is what I got from this
Well that escalated fast 😅
Well that escalated fast 😅
The madlad actually won the race with his sim racing team too the in the early morning of the race day . He only had to do 11 laps in the online race for it to register as a proper participant in the race, but Max went ahead and did 35 laps and considering that this is his hobby and his teams mates are professional sim racing athletes, Max was only 0.5 seconds behind to all his pro teammates in the average laptimes and stint pace which is wild + he goes on to win an intense race where the RB is clearly not the fastest car on track that day (Mclaren was easily catching up and overtaking him in the last few laps if not for the Max’s X factor and his skill to manage the gap on low ERS too ! )
He's lucky to have a car that can match his ability. There are half a dozen drivers that would have 3 more championships instead of him if the roles were reversed. I'm in awe of the six bespoke cars within a tenth over a quali lap.
She thinks 24 is too much loooooooooool
When you are in my comment section you don't comment as if I'm not here.
Baseball teams play 180 games a season. 24 races isn't too much, it doesn't dilute shit. Teams need more drivers to rotate in and out, same with mechanics. Imagine if each team had 3 drivers to split between 48 race spots (24 races * 2 seats).
Baseball and F1 are no comparable just like any NASCAR and IndyCar driver will tell you travelling within a country (no matter how big said country is) is just not the same as travelling around the global and dealing with that kind of logistics /set-up and jet lag.
Hopefully next year we can have a whole season without the fat muppet constantly talking about food instead of F1 and being a drama queen with Kravitz where they just gossip about F1
Why would putting the steering wheel back on matter in an emergency situation?
In less dangerous situation this allow crew to steer and move the car out of the way, if the situation extremely dangerous like the car lit on fire they don't have to add back.
It's good practice and training for the more mundane moments when they may have to exit the car and leave it on track. Without the steering wheel, the marshals can't move it anywhere.
Did the FIA and F1 penalize Grojean for not putting the wheel back on after that little shunt he had a few years back? LOL
How do f1 cars get across the sea
air freight mostly. Some extra parts are put on boats when they aren't urgent and teams have a handful of different parts at any given moment going to the next location
Which races would you axe? Personally I love having so many races. But I do get that it’s a lot to ask of f1 staff. Plus the chances of me watching all 24 races is unlikely as I have a life. 😂
I love watching pitstops and am even more impressed it's a second job. Do pit crew members get paid extra in addition to what they earn for their original garage jobs?
I believe they do yes. And then of course there is the unofficial 'pit stop' championship that they all get very excited for and work towards. The Red Bull team talks about this a lot
@@tonicowan-brown Thanks for additional info. Hadn't heard about pit stop competition before!
So what is it then?
As I say in the video, in F1, it's Ferrari sparkling wine. Also it has nothing to do with SCuderia Ferarri
F1 becoming fake😂😂😂
Yep
That’s how my robotics team does it at FRC competitions too!
Hotest hair ever
Great video!! Do you know the difference between all the accreditations colors or Journalist Paddock vs Journalist PitLane?
Do you get access to paddock with media accreditation?
yes you get access to the media center and the Paddock, not paddock hospitality
@@tonicowan-brown thank you! Do you get access to the pit lane or that’s separate?
Pointless and boring
🪶
Well you are not the target then .
I think it is but its also a downgrade imo. We have no choice but to use formula e lol its like when losing weight you have no choice but to eat less meat and more lettuce xD
I certainly hope it's NOT
The yanks took over f1 and are trying their best to change it from racing to a show with shiny colors and insufferable people,as well as garbage drama shows on netflix. Not to mention adding terrible tracks and fake saturday races. It's a shame that the wrong country is in charge of f1 now..
I really loved the last few videos, but keep getting distracted by hand movements. Anyways, I'm interested if Formula E will go slightly towards EVs like McMurtry Speirling and Rimac Nevera similarly like how F1 had Aston Martin Valkyrie and Mercedes AMG ONE? And also, how can Formula E be enticing for Sim Racers? And lastly, what is Autonomous Racing League?
Fantastic Video, as always - have driven me to understand more about Formula E. thank you!
Im so glad to hear it was helpful
O lo é fórmula E bit The sound off F1 it’s amazing
I simply chatted my way into the Mexico GP in '88. Times have changed haha
Just stumbled across your channel. Love the videos. I am a Fan of the f1 battle beside the track. The engineering, the technology the race on the edge what is possible rulewhise. Looking forward to your new Videos.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment and thank you for the encouragement 🙏
such an interesting interview🧡 I will definetly be putting this book on my to-read list
so glad you found it interesting
@2:17 - also, working photographers receive media passes - whether they are working for photo agencies such as Getty, or local/national/international publications. I've worked with both international publications as well as photo agencies. Certain criteria is also required - not just anyone who has a camera is granted accreditation. Additionally, a "Still Photography" sticker is required to be placed on the camera in order to be able to have track access - also required is a Media Photographer tabbard allowing one to access the track's service road to be able to photograph safely from the track.
This is really great toni! The conversation was so smooth and I can hear the interest and excitement when you both speak! Definitely gonna check out the book now!
Thanks so much for the words of encouragement. The book is such a phenomenal read
I've read so many books about sports, specific series and F1 in the past decade and this has to be one of my favourite. If you want to get the most complete overview (without too many details but lots of anecdotes) this is the book about F1 I would recommend.
This was such an educational and interesting video! I love the longer video format ! :)
Thank you so much - appreciate you taking the time to say this 🙏
This article was better written than 90% of the stuff (mostly about automotive journalism) I read on R&T.
Girl say words. No use brain. Head empty, echoes. Whistle, whistle.. walk my dog..
This story highlights the primary problem with F1 today. 90% of what the sport is....isn't even sport, it's artificially created drama. Only 4 champion drivers with only 2 manufacturers championships over a 13 year period. The championship is decided before the first race so you've got to fill the airwaves with something. Since their decision to write off the American market (TV ratings have tanked in the US) I'm anxiously awaiting Liberty Medias inevitable bankruptcy and F1's new owners.
