If you look carefully at 1:16 you will see two dead Confederate soldiers. The one in the back is the same fellow who was the "Sharpshooter". He was dragged several yards to be photographed at the sharpshooters den.

My ancestor was wounded at Little Round Top. He was taken prisoner before he was allowed to go home via a prisoner exchange.

The kids of today have no clue to our great history. What a shame, they don’t even know the state capitals or the names of our Presidents. I blame the teachers and the administrators. It’s really pathetic.

Very interesting to see how forests have grown and how monuments have been placed. When you visit Gettysburg and other battlefields it is hard to imagine the carnage, the horror, the death, the panic, the sweat, the fierceness of battle. There is always a hint of melancholy too, especially on misty mornings or in autumn or winter and you wonder whether all those dead souls lie easy under that sacred soil. It is good to take children to see these battlefields. I grew up during the 1960s when the Centennials of all these battles took place. One summer my parents took us three kids to all the VA battlefields and we went from one to the other by car. I especially liked any displays of uniforms and equipment, which really humanized battle for us. This instilled in me a great love of history. We loved getting little souvenirs of these battles to remind us of this trip.

I have been to and photographed so many of those exact places many times, and I never tire of seeing them.

We posted a thumb's down, poor commentary , no closed captioning, hard to understand what was said.

None of the truths, about the suffering of those who came before us are in the history books. I had family on my dad's side who fought in World War I and then volunteered for World War II. He was found by one of his sons, had hanged his self.

Gettysburg still looks a beautiful place, if this was Australia that land would have been built over by greedy developers and corrupt local councils with granny flats in places where kids used to play..
