what's the difference between a confederate solider and a union soldier?
A confederate is a yellow belly snake and a union is brave and strong!

strega206 If the Confederates were such yellow bellies then why did 2 yanks die in the war to 1 confederate?

      That was an ignorant statement.
If the Union had as brave and steadfast soldiers in their army, they would have won thed war in a year or two at most.

That’s why the innumerably outmatched Confederates - less means to produce supplies, less men to fight, less international allies - fought for five years in a war they were doomed to lose from the start. That’s why they fought without shoes, some without guns, and went without good food for months at a time. The Yankees went through much the same, but as the saying goes “if you shot one five others would just take his place.” The north could afford losses. The South couldn’t. They paid the price for their strategic errors, that much is true, but calling them cowards?
The only cowardice among those fellers was some officers, like Pillow and Floyd. But the soldiers? You put yourself and their shoes and see if you’d take kindly to being called a coward when you go fighting on against overwhelming odds.
