    AND this is why I'm ashamed to be American. So many ignorant people post on the internet! (I apologise because she's not how a great majority of us are!) Why can't people just appreciate music? Doesn't matter who it was written or used by... Max Raabe sings beautifully and in a style that seems to be a lost art. It's because of him quite a few people I know got into older music.Personally, I've loved this song since my German neighbor used to sing it. Wonderful that you posted it! Thank you!

    Please see the youtube videos of Raabe in Israel: he had a number of concerts there. The concerts were sold out and the audiences were mixed... holocaust survivors and their grandchildren. The elderly concert goes wept...at the memories of happier times BEFORE the horror. Get your facts straight.

  • @SeeWoelfin
    @SeeWoelfin Před 11 lety

    You are rather uneducated I am afraid. This music is mainly from the pre-Nazi era... most of it even before 1930. Most of it was written by German Jews and was therefore not much appreciated by the Nazis. The way Raabe sings is a style that was popular all through europe and even in the US at the time.

  • @SeeWoelfin
    @SeeWoelfin Před 11 lety

    Guess you know what your average Iraqui thinks of Rock n Roll then... P.S.: If you did know any German, you would recognise that my gender is inherent in my Nick: Woelfin is a female wolf.

  • @SeeWoelfin
    @SeeWoelfin Před 11 lety

    I am afraid you are wrong there. They certainly did recognise good art... but it had to be ideologically correct too. Literature and music and the fine arts too were hijacked to propagare a political agenda. The problem with most of the repertoire that Raabe sing is: the authors and texters were very frequently German Jews, who played an enormous role in the cultural scene of the 20s and 30s.

    I do not hate America! Without your help, the Netherlands would not be a free country. But I hate politicians, that do not care about the decisions made by the UN, since it was founded to secure "international humanitarian law". The invasions were declared illegal by the UN, before they started, Bush and Rumsfeld "cheated(?)" on the UN and the 193 nations belonging to it. - Again: I do not care about countries at all. There are some "idiots" belonging to every nation, since all are only human..

    2) I guess, you think that invading Iraq and Afghanistan was the right thing to do. Yet, the invasions were declared illegal by the UN! When Truman signed the UN charta, it became part of your constitution. Bush did not care and still invaded both and cheated on all of americans allies. Today, most european politicians think that the risk of terror is even higher, then it was before the invasions and killing of Hussein and Osama. (Revenge) - Did you know that, or do you just know US propaganda?

  • @dunjak111
    @dunjak111 Před 11 lety

    Holy cow! You really fell to that propaganda shit?! In WW2 a lot more people died through german hands, no doubt! But that is no excuse for Americans. Doing the same (killing innocents) just makes you equal with the Nazi. In european documentations, its clear, that the US wanted to "test" the bomb. No "warning shot" and the US did not even target military structures. The american regime wanted to see the devastation done by the bomb for real. Thats a fact in the Netherlands and in whole Europe..

I really don't want to fight WW 2 all over. I could also bring up how many millions died because of Germany. What's the point? It just brings up old pain. War is evil and should never happen. Some evils are worse than others. Let the dead rest in peace. 3,000 innocent civilians died on 9/11 as well. Does it all even out? NO!

  • @Sasha1939
    @Sasha1939 Před 11 lety

    Those are facts, brought out by independent sources post war It's on film.. A tragedy - but choices had to be made. Don't forget, Japan killed innocent civilians in China, Philippines, Taiwan, etc.. Japan told its people to "fight the enemy to the death". Japanese military put civilians in the path of certain death. Where was the Emperor? He needed to take charge sooner. Let's not fight the war all over. It's pointless. Go to Roberto Carlos,"Que sera de ti." That is worth our time.

  • @dunjak111
    @dunjak111 Před 11 lety

    The bomb was meant to kill civilians. Women and children, whos shadows are still visible, burned into the sidewalk. They did not even try to bomb military buildings, but a whole city. Dont fall to the american propaganda of that time..

  • @Sasha1939
    @Sasha1939 Před 11 lety

    dunjak111: RE: Hiroshima & Nagasaki. Japan was warned to give up or suffer terrible consequences.. Kamikaze's were killing thousands of Americans.Japan refused - so Hiroshima. They were asked again to surrender, that another bomb would drop if they failed to comply. Japan still refused - thus Nagasaki. The Emperor finally stepped in & told Japanese military to stop, the war had to end. Many different views. Japan's military meant to fight to the death, U.S. wanted it over. It had to stop.
