(FRITS #64) Pelita Air Economy Class Flight Experience - IP244 Jakarta CGK to Yogyakarta YIA
SEATS FEATURED:
Economy: Recaro BL3510 seats
A very nice first impression on board Pelita Air.
Since Pelita's relaunching in 2022, I have been dying to try this airline, and finally, I got the chance. It all started on Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta Airport. With around 5.5 hours of transit time, I made my way to the domestic concourse still with plenty of time. I checked in around 4 hours before the flight and was attempting to switch to IP242, the earlier flight which turned out was no longer operating. Nevertheless, the ground staff gave me the chance to check in early, and I was soon headed to security, and to the gate, with around 3.5 hours to spare.
My aircraft was an ex-GoAir Airbus A320, PK-PWC, Pelita's 2nd Airbus A320. Boarding was done through gate 14's remote gate (14R). I was then directed to the bus, which took me all the way to the plane. Despite being a second-hand plane, the cabin was fresh, clean, and comfortable, in a very nice condition. The seats were still original from GoAir, a bunch of Recaro 3510 family seats (old SL3510A). It was easy to operate, comfortable thanks to the thick padding, and clean. There was only a safety card and an airsickness bag in the seat pocket, however.
Take-off was pretty much only slightly late, and then, I got to enjoy Pelita's In-Flight Entertainment service, branded "Starlight", using the Tripper app. It was speedy and had a very good layout, however, it had slightly less contents compared to Batik Air. The crews then commenced the snack service with the same enthusiastic, friendly, courteous, caring, and warm attitude. Due to this being a 45-minute flight and there were 180 passengers to take care of, the crews seemed a bit rushed and that distorted their friendliness a bit. The taro bread that I had was presented nicely in a separate box, and the taste was delicious albeit slightly sticky and rough.
The landing was 5 minutes early, and I disembarked last again because I wanted to take pictures with the crews. The purser, without a doubt, okayed my request and called the entire cabin crew forward while the ground staff members did their job cleaning the plane. The crews were so friendly that instead of me asking them what makes Pelita Air different, they were the ones asking me how my first flight with Pelita was; and that was the point that I gave my origami to them, which they found cute. Once done, I made my way to the bag claim area where I only waited less than 10 minutes for my bag to arrive.
Overall, Pelita made me love them at first sight, and while they were far from being Starlux despite both being new airlines, they had a great start and I can see them being Indonesia's Starlux.

    I didn’t know that Safran also makes ife screen as well too. I thought it’s just only Panasonic or Thales that only makes the IFE screen. This is not popular as both of them but I think this is cheaper than both of them probably. Also it has good layout selection than the rest. Thai Airways probably didn’t had enough money to buy Panasonic ife system that’s why they stick with Safran rave like Philippines Airlines. And your are right the economy seats are colins aerospace pinnacle seats as I can tell from the front part of the seats but the rear doesn’t look like it. But the back is a different style which had a cup holder ,tray table and ife screen. The ones on their A350-900 matches the website.

    • @LoneStarFlightReviews
      @LoneStarFlightReviews Před 5 dny

      Safran's IFE screen and systems are previously known as Zodiac. Starlux is using the same system too. And yes - I believe these are slightly customized Collins Pinnacle seats as they look 85% similar, except for the traytable. Surely all of these can't be old gen Safran Z300s like what Air France has on their older B777s.

      Did you by chance find it on Skyart? Because they said these are Recaro CL3510Bs, which is true since TG did install some of them, but not on this plane as the design looks different. The seatback design screams Sicma to me, but I'm half-sure. You may be right. I'll check again.

      @@LoneStarFlightReviews the older 777-200 has Recaro not the 777-200er. These seats are the same as the Boeing 777-300 ,3 older A330-300 ceo which was retrofitted in 2019 and both A340-500 and A340-600. I fly on the on both A340-500 and A340-600 since I was little and the Boeing 777-300 once in 2015 but I remember these seats. All the A340 are 2-4-2 for economy and Boeing 777-300 is 3-3-3 configuration like all of their Boeing 777 fleet. The 777-300 business class has 2-3-2 configuration unlike the 777-200 and 777-200er. A340-500 has 2-3-2 for premium economy ,all the A340 has 2-2-2 for business class. A340-600 is the only A340 with First class. The A380 also has Recaro economy seats but they are a bit different with the tray table, ife screen and the placement of the ife remote.

  • @LoneStarFlightReviews

    Correction: A search on several marketplace sites proves that this seat model, while still in the 3510 family, is technically NOT the newer-model SL3510 used in easyJet: this is the older model. It does, however, bear some similarities with easyJet's, with the exception of the smaller traytable and armrest in newer SL3510s. Also, judging by the larger traytable and armrest, I'm banking more towards BL3510 rather than SL3510. Pelita mostly uses BL-series seats instead of SL, and the seats here are the exact same seat used by Philippine Airlines on their A320s. The pre-bonus scene was recorded on the Hitachi AT100 train of SRT Dark Red Line bound for Bang Sue at Kan Kheha.

  • @LoneStarFlightReviews

    UPDATE: I'm afraid Aerolopa provided me with the wrong information. After checking on several sites, my guess is right: the seats are Recaro BL3710, and not SL3510. The SL3510 and 3710 comes with smaller traytable. The pre-bonus footage was shot on a Keikyu N1000 train on a local service bound for Shinagawa at Keikyu-Kamata.

      Saw your Business Class video because one of the FAs (Dorlia) on your flight was also on my flight from SFO-TPE. I can nitpick that they should have set the legroom to 33' for economy since JAL, KE, NH, and OZ do so, but again, it does not matter much because the seats were already so wonderful in most of their aspects. Tbh they made me forget about JAL, ANA, Korean, and Asiana, and they have definitely raised the bar! Thanks for watching!

    I have a flight booked. It's good to khear things are running smoothly. Too bad their departure gate is in another terminal (or is it a new wing of the International terminal, I heard it's a bit of a walk, but htne San Francisco is such a tiny airport anyway, compared to Asian airports these days. I like transiting TPE because for now they don't recheck flights incoming from the USA - no security line! - and returning home they let me leave my electronics in my carryon - Korea insists ALL electronics come out, and I travel with 2 phones, a phone repurposed for PMP (portable media player), an iPad, and a Surface. Hong Kong is a no-go for me as well, since Cathay has a manual security re-inspection, at the gate, for flights headed Stateside (they even ban refilled bottles! refilled at their airports own fountains!). TPE is a little drab for an international airport, and my transit departure gate is posiitively ancient. Of the region's terminals, I think Korea is the nicest (if you get past the rude transit security), Japan (both Tokyo and Haneda) are a close second, Hong Kong third, and TPE feels more regional than internationsl.

    • @LoneStarFlightReviews
      @LoneStarFlightReviews Před měsícem

      TPE's Terminal 1 definitely looks ancient because it was from the 1970s - but not Terminal 2 for me. But for me, merely because of the attitude of the staff at security and the ground staff overall, I would place HND and NRT first, TPE second, HKG third, and Incheon last. As you said, Incheon seemed to be filled with people who were unhappy with their jobs. Terminal-wise, I'd say HND > NRT > ICN > HKG > TPE. Same with the PreCheck staff at SFO who rudely told me to take out laptops and shoes even though I have PreCheck and satirically told me that "you're supposed to hold your TSA PreCheck card" (tbh, this was my fault too) as if he knew I was a newbie, which I was. I was about to call a supervisor, but considering TSA said that even with PreCheck you can still be asked to remove your shoes and laptops, I call that business as usual, except for the rudeness. DFW and LAX TSA are way friendlier for me and DFW TSA even guided me on how to use PreCheck. I still managed to get past security in 2 to 3 minutes anyway, and at the end of the day, I've been through Incheon in the past and they were similar, if not worse, in rudeness. I would put BKK security in the same level of rudeness too. Terminal-wise, I have no complaints about SFO because they're way smaller than LAX which I liked. I was able to transit from the B gates back to the B gates again in just 25-35 minutes compared to the 45-55 that I took to transfer from TBIT to T4. Thanks for watching!

    That's awesome service from Starlux. JAL and ANA seem to get a bit more expensive than they were in the past. They both have excellent service, and so is Starlux. That's so nice of the crew to give you so many souvenirs. Btw, I have already eaten congee on EVA AIR, and it was bland as what you got on this flight. And that's the only time I chose it... I always get another option but not congee.

      Agree - I don't want to spend $1500K++ on JAL and ANA (even when booked through United/AA since I am both a MileagePlus and AAdvantage member) when I can get roundtrip tickets on JX for $350-500 less (and I am also a Mileage Plan member which Starlux also partners with). Indeed, the crews were so nice! And....yeah. I ate congee twice onboard a plane; one on CX and one on JX. CX won hands down, they were the closest to my grandma's 😂 EDIT: Just realized I also ate congee on JAL. JAL won hands down in that case, CX close second. Thanks for watching!

    You should try All Nippon Airways (ANA) instead of Japan Airlines (JAL) Skytrax Airline Ratings is the most accurate Airline rating, ANA is #3 and JAL is #5. If you ever go to Tokyo again you should try flying ANA next time, you may get a better flight experience

      I saw this comment coming since I would love to try ANA if not for the exorbitant price from both their site and United's site (which is why I ditched them in favor of JAL in this video, and again in favor of the world rank #39 and the runner-up of the World's Most Improved Airline, Starlux, this Spring) I must say both airlines are pretty much on par and it is hard to poke the holes of Japanese carriers, and I'll definitely try ANA if I have the chance.
