Grouch is very special to me and I feel like this man has helped save my life multiple times and I was so grateful for the opportunity to tell him that last time I saw him at velvet jones in Santa Barbara with luckyiam scarub and some openers grouch was helping after the show I pulled him aside and he graciously lent me his ear and full attention like if we were the only two there. I doubt he is able to remember this but he’s genuinely been a true spiritual guide for me whenever I unfortunately see myself entering back into that dark place (which I am currently experiencing hence how I discovered this video) I instinctively begin listening to his music and hearing some of those speak to my soul in a way that is like therapy. Born + raised there until coming to the US for middle school and there's a trauma with that realization; being denied legitimate by your own people, watching your friends treated as criminals while receiving a thumbs up for your whiteness - that identity crisis can certainly crush you.
