Nice!
Sound like 1991 Flxible Metro that were on their last leg at Chicago CTA after 1997
anyone know anyone selling a 870 or Metro bus I would love to buy one
Mc9 sounding good 👍 the last one I drove just as they were retiring them was Indianapolis to Chicago and she would run!
Is that an NJ Transit Authority city bus from the 1960s, 1970s or the 1980s?
That Air Starter was a Beast like NYC RTSes and Orion 5s and CT's MCI Classics, This sounded like CTA's 1995 Flxibles
I just wish you'd sat up front to view the driver shifting gears.
Sounds just like a RTS II
Woooooo yessirrr!
Is this a fan bus now???
VH9 Allison Transmission great combination
Love how the automatic transmission (which I prefer in one of these) down shifts the engine as he slows to a stop.
Lot of these flixibles sound like the GMC RTS and the MCI Classics
1:36 - beast mode activated! When those lights went off, it was on 😍🔥
This sounds like an 8V92 rather than an 6V92.......it has that throaty deep roar to it.
How can I get in touch with the owner of this bus?
At least NJ Transit sells them unlike the freaking nyc mta who has to scrap almost every unit!
Judging by the blue seats and the ex nj transit paint scheme. This is probably one of those flexible buses that the company bought back from New York City due to a cracked A-frame problem. In which those were repaired and sold to other agencies like NJ transit.
Correct
Why did they get brand new motors if they were to retire in two years?
7:27 Tho
And here I am listening to this one again! OMG! Cannot get enough of this bus!
POS
Correct me if I'm wrong but is it a 6V92TA or 6V71N Detroit Diesel engine
I would love to see this bus anyone know where it is located
Everyone misses the Flxible Metro B suburban and Transit buses they are number one in New Jersey for everyone
These newer buses are Computer controlled and fine but I prefer the older buses like 5036 and 6106 one of those is getting restored back to the factory condition
I like to pretend to go to Philadelphia and back to Atlantic city when watching this one those were the days when it used to be the C101 line them switched to the 551 line in order to stop the confusion
Is the VH9 Allison Transmission different because it's almost sound like the HT740 which it debuted in 1973
It's v drive where as the 740 is t drive.
I'm from NYC is that a Brown MCI classic I see in the background
Nice audible recording!!! And I have been through a lot of recordings
And I am waiting for someone to get an ex Njt Volvo B10M. I rode those one time back in 1999 coming back from Freehold (route 139) and that was it.
Ÿg
I've missed ridding those buses from Atlantic City Municipal Bus Terminal At Arctic and Arkansas Avenue Wich it was demolished in the late 90s and the second bus terminal at Atlantic and Michigan Avenues to Philadelphia Greyhound bus station at 10th and Filbert streets with my family the older buses are better than these newer buses with engine code issues like those Cummins ISX12 engines
Sounds like the Flxible Metro
That Bus Looks and Sounds Great ! I Grew Up With 1128 . Buss 1128 Was Operated By NJ Transit Hilton Garage.
Tony este autobus le hicieron un repower, suena a 6L71TA, I think Tony, this bus makes a repower to 6L71TA
Grew up riding these buses on the 400 and 403 in the Camden area.
Camden Newton Avenue garage had those buses too like the 404 405 407 413 419 450 and 451 before the nova rts enter the service believe it or not me and my grandmother rode a Flxible Metro B suburban 40096 6T I believe it's the 3000 or the 3100s series from Camden Walter Rand Transportation Center to Cherry hill Mall back in 2001 our only ride we had nova rts buses after NJ transit retired all of the Grumman Flxible 870 ADB buses in 2000 and 1596 it's at the Lakewood bus garage with all of the older buses are from the past
Beeline (Westchester County) stand up!!!
And unfortunately for the 1994 Flxible Metro D city cruiser #1966 have a head injury it was enough to use that bus for parts thats the sad part rest in peace from 1994 to 2017 but it's a great parts bus just bad decision for whoever wreck that bus in the first place when who's driving that bus
The 1981 Grumman Flxible 870 ADB PA1128 got a happy ending safe at the Hoboken garage where it doesn't get wrecked unlike what happened to the Flxible Metro D city cruiser #1966
That engine gotta be a 6V53 N or TA Detroit Diesel engine with 4 speed manual transmission there were no Allison Transmissions back in the 40s and 50s only the 60s and later even automatic Transmissions weren't built until the 60s
Classic commuter fishbowl. These were 96" wide instead of 102" wide, like most of the 40ft city transit versions with the exit door on the right mid-section. The commuter coaches could really get up and go!
It had that early 80's mid-pitch sound/hum to it.
Wooooooooooo shiiiiiiiiiittttttttt
Love the growl in the beginning! I wish i had Flx videos.
Caterpillar C13 engine with ZF ecomat 5HP 590 automatic transmission
grummanflxible 870 adb buses will cross my mind I've been on those buses back then when njtransit have 600 plus buses were ex New York City Transit Authority buses the 6V71 N - TA Detroit diesel engines were the beast the Cummins diesel engines bites big wind even the L10 engine too
Atlantic City Transportation Company had those 35 ft.102 buses when it was new jersey department of transportation until nj transit take over the the whole state and local routes such as the A1 through A9 known as the 501 through the 509 as well as the 101 102 103 104 109 known as the 551 through the 559 and 319 things are different back then
wow this video was posted when i was 7 and now im 18 STILL LOVE THE SOUND
