Having been an industrial maintenance electrician sines the early 80’s I just like to say how spot on you are. Control and automation isn’t something you could ever get into on your own, it just isn’t going to happen. I did lots of programming in my job but always had the security of being employed by a company. When I set out on my own in 2006 I did very little programming it was just too risky. So many different PLC’ and programming tools, way too easy to shut a site down or wipe a program (not many of my customers ever had backups😳) was working on a project a few years ago when the software guy shut the whole site down for several hours due to some bad code, sure glad it wasn’t me. Self contained automation panels can be great little projects to get a foot in the door but again a good knowledge of safety protocols is essential

Hi Mate, 1. Why are you doing this project/business 2. Do you want to/ can you magnify value (personality driven, only YOU can do it) or multiply value (system driven)…. Sounds like magnify. Niche it down!… you can multiply at some point in future, either by having another you, or creating a system to deliver. 3. Forget everyone else, all the books, all the advice. Go climb a hill, jump in the sea, get out on a boat. And what ever comes to you then. Do that. The solution is in your head/heart already for the next step. Get out your own way.

yup i agree. with that plug on the cable it is useless. also.. don't fear the power, respect it instead and make sure you never touch the exposed wires while it is live.. i service and repair (and sometimes rebuild) home electronics myself so dealing with 220v ac is quite common for me without the need for insulated boots or rubber gloves. sure it happen that one gets a small zap once in a while but it is fine. not worse then getting burnt on the heat gun or soldering iron. tbh if you have good pain tolerance and control over your reaction you will be fine.

It's a cold start problem? Start writing it down and breaking down into the most next atomic goal/objective? Identify the possible minimum effective dosage and thresholds needed to crack the next atomic goal. You know enough to make progress and solve it. The assumption is that no off-the-shelf can solve your problems in your context. If the non-existent vendor/Guru/mentor is holding you back then what do you do?

Ppl that sell education are hacks. Education should be free to anyone interested and motivated enough to learn it, if anything ppl should get paid to learn through OTJT. Ppl that monger information for compensation are the scourge of the earth.

Try to take a complete break for a few days; let your subconscious find a good solution. You are young, if you do one thing really well that will pay off in the end no matter what.
