Autoglym Snow Foam Lance vs Amazon's Cheapest Review
In this video, I compare and review my existing Qooltek snow foam lance with Autoglym’s Polar Blaster snow foam cannon. At the time of purchasing, the Qooltek snow foam gun was the cheapest on Amazon at £18.99. Both products are compatible with Karcher pressure washers which is what I’m using to conduct this test (Karcher K4), along with Bilt Hamber Touch-Less as the snow foam product.
To ensure this is a fair test; I calculate the Panel Impact Ratio (PIR) for each snow foam lance. I also compared the differences in design, useful features and which snow foam cannon produces the best foam.

      I suppose the first step is to figure out what is blocked. If you unscrew the lance from the tigger, does water pour out of the trigger when you press it? If so, the blockage must be in the lance or the spray tip. Can you disconnect the tip? In my video I unscrewed the cap on the tip to reveal the white pin holes nozzle; I didn’t try pulling that out but I assume it will. This is what happends when u use an aqua stop hose fitting the pressure gets trapped in the machine and can crack internal components

    • @SwiftDevelopments
      @SwiftDevelopments Před 11 dny

      The advice is not to use AquaStop valves because they can starve the pump of water if they restrict the recommended flow rate. This particular issue is after the pump has pressurised the water, so it has no bearing on the issue. Relieving pressure in the hose and pipe after use before packing away will help prevent this part splitting. Also ensuring the pressure washer doesn’t freeze in winter should ensure water in the plastic parts doesn’t expand and crack the seams.

      Hi @JonnyD3ath, I did get it checked out at a reputable tyre shop I trust before creating this video and I was told it wasn’t a write-off; but to keep an eye on it to make sure its condition doesn’t deteriorate (which I’m doing frequently). I would recommend anyone in a similar situation to seek professional advice when safety is concerned.

  • @craigchamberlain
    @craigchamberlain Před 28 dny

    Well produced video but I would hope an MOT tester would call that out as not safe. If I was an MOT tester and saw the original damage I would probably let it slide but when you see the damage covered up like that, you just can't know what is underneath. It's like finding underbody paint coated over a rusty floor. Also, when torquing up 5 bolt wheel bolts, don't do them one after another like on a clock face. Instead do them in a sequence like 1, 3, 5, 2, 4 and try to finish on the locking bolt if one is fitted. Then always release the locking bolt first using a breaker bar when loosening, before taking the rest off with an impact wrench if you have one. Never use an impact wrench on a locking bolt. Not saying that you did but just clarifying. Ideally have a spare locking wheel bolt key in case the original breaks because it never breaks at a convenient time! Don't ask why I know this! :)

    • @SwiftDevelopments
      @SwiftDevelopments Před 25 dny

      Hi @craigchamberlain and thanks for commenting. I did get it checked out at a tyre shop I trust before creating this video and I was told it wasn’t a write-off; but to keep an eye on it to make sure its condition doesn’t deteriorate (which I’m doing frequently). Although I did mention this was cosmetic, in hindsight, I should have clarified in the video that anyone thinking of doing this should seek professional advice before performing a repair to make sure the tyre is still roadworthy. Your guidance regarding torquing wheel bolts and use of impact wrenches is sound advice; you are correct in stating they should be torqued in order (1, 3, 5, 2, 4) to ensure an evenly distributed clamping force. Looking back at my video, I’d originally used the correct order when putting on the bolts, but realised I used (1, 3, 4, 5, 2) to tighten them, before checking with the torque wrench in a clockwise fashion (I’ve since redone it just to be on the safe side!). I too experienced an issue with a shop that naively used an impact wrench to remove tuner style wheel bolts and split one, which meant I then had to get a sacrificial hex socket welded into it to get it out. Using a breaker bar to loosen them first is a much safer option.

    I have bought 3 pressures washers over three years. Suspect for any washer is the aluminum/zinc die cast housing used, which is subject to corrosion and a frozen pump. I got one season out of the first two washers. Go to use it the next year and "ZERO". Lock up. Looking at the inlets there was corrosion all over the casting. Comes the third pressure washer. On the first two I used the flush and store system liquid through the pump and put it away for winter. That didn't work. Third washer, put hydraulic tool oil (4-5 table spoons) into the water inlet and ran the pump for about 10 seconds. It flushed out water and left an oil film in the pump. I have had this last pressure washer 3 years now and it starts up every year after winter. And the pressure is still strong. Frankly, I think these manufactures should be coating the die cast housings with corrosion resistant coating. I am a product engineer of 45 years, and designed automotive parts with corrosion resistant coatings to withstand freezing rain, heat, and road salts. I can tell you I never went back to the manufactures washers that only lasted one season. My current washer is a Sun Joe and it is holding up.....with the oil purge included.
