Good job brother.
Nice looking place you have there Chriss. How many acres you have? You need to do a tour of CK Cycles for us all. What state you in? Awesome work on the Banshee. I would love to get my hands on a Banshee engine to swap into an air cooled Yamaha YZ 125 chassis.
Thanks for the compliments! We are fortunate to be on 10 acres. Looks like you have some nice work going on over at your channel. I just subscribed!
@@CK-Cycles, thank you!!
Sounds wicked! Need to get it out on a back road and let her eat! 🏁
It is a mean machine! Might need to keep my eye out for one to rebuild.
Great video. This was just what I was looking for. Not a lot of info out there on what solution to use for carburettors. Most point to expensive & nasty chemicals.
I'm ready to hear that Banshee wail!
Not stock jets :)
Well she sounds good. I’d love to have one of those. Good job Chris.
Thanks
U da man.
It's coming along!
@@CK-Cycles I’m am always amazed, how whatever you touch works again. Mechanical wizard you are.
Slides, not floats. Floats are inside the carb bowls.
Yep, may have misspoke.
@@CK-Cycles slip of the tongue, can happen to anyone. I am busy with an '81 XT500 and a '79 TT500 for my own stable. Your videos are great. Keep them coming. From Greg in South Africa.
@@gregorystroud6119 thanks! XT is a great bike to work on.
Carbs can be a pain. Good luck brother.
I love listening to those 2-smokers. You said the carbs weren't running the stock jetting. I see there are aftermarket pipes on the bike, are there any other modifications from stock besides the pipes that you know of?
WOW! Never seen a stator that bad in my life.
Nice video, thanks :) I have VF 700 -86 myself too. Do you need to take off radiator if you want to remove carbs?
@@tapiotolonen7728 I was able to remove the carbs without removing the radiator but it was no easy. I ended up removing the radiator though anyway and it made installation of the carbs much easier.
By the way: stator ,ignition coil source and light coil should be isolated from the plate.....?
Hi ! Do you know if ignition plate must be isolated from the frame? Thank again bye
@@Claudio-si7iw In my example it is isolated. That is a good question and I should have pointed that out. Thanks.
Hi! How do you set the tester? The image is blurred.thank bye
I set it at the only Ohm setting it had.
Was this a project you worked on in secret, and then surprised him with it? You must have been on a shakedown run... I don't see any fishin' gear. 😁
No secret… he bought it and I just looked the outboard over. We were out to test everything and make sure it could haul a decent payload 😬.
@@CK-Cycles Looks like the test was successful. 😀
can I ask mileage originally and especially how much did you get the bike for/pay? im looking at same thing with kicker pretty much it has a title as well-and from michigan
When do I get a ride??
Anytime!
Nice
Good job brother
Spoiler Alert..... ever hear of a TORS Delete? 😃
@@CK-Cycles nope.
@@cainbeeping8480 stay tuned then.
@@CK-Cycles will do.
I vote you install a big-bore kit! 😝
May be a great project for the winter.
I know I've mentioned this before, but you make this stuff look easy. Super good video. I have the same bike. So is there no oil in the forks? Mine is in really nice shape, but I've never done anything with forks, so I've been dreading the job.
I will be honest… this was a tough job. I had to adjust my expectations for the rebuild. They are functional and not leaking. So I had to be good with it… and I am. They will probably work great for the life of the bike.
@@CK-Cycles I implore you to please get this little bike on the road again. They're incredibly fun. I'm outside Detroit MI., and I cannot take it out without getting compliments everywhere. I don't drive it too much, because it's historically registered, but I love the bike, and love how many compliments it gets. Best of luck.
One can add a portion of Isopropyl alcohol to prevent foaming.
Back on the 125 again! I figured you must have been waiting on a few parts for that bike. Maybe you need a couple more projects to work on Chris? We need more content! 🤣
Good job brother
Thanks.
Great video
Thanks
@Chris, besides knowing how to start your XT500, you also know how to make it look a lot smaller than other XTs 😮
I’ve got a 76 no window XT 500 - Make sure the switch is in run Choke down or on Ignition off Fuel on Compression lever in / pulled Kick 8 times No throttle Switch ignition on Compression lever in / pulled Slow kick down all the way Back to top Slow half kick down Back to top Full hard kick No throttle Usually 3 to 3 kicks When she starts let her warm up Enjoy 👍🏻👍🏻
Looks like a full time job to mow that lawn.
It does take a while!
Those drag bars are definitely not stock. Couple those bars with the wear on the rear tire tells me the previous owner liked doing burnouts on that bike! I think you should stick with the drag bar theme, it suits that bike.
Well she lives and rides. I would definitely fix it.
Good job brother
Thanks
I have an xt500 and a tt500. I've never used or looked at the window.
back in the old days i used to make crude drawings and label's on critical areas of disassembly.
Hearing her start up made my day. Good luck with this project. I look forward to your future posts. Cheers, from CAN
From the looks of that rear tire, I bet they did a ton of burn outs.
Engine sounds fine Chris. A bit of cosmetic damage though. May need a new rear tire. 😆 Looking forward to watching you dig into this one.
Wow, that's the kind of bikes I get most of the time.....needing lots of work. But that being said, it's a great way to save money on a good bike. Sounds good buddy, will be watchin you work.
A great project. She sounds great
Hey brother
Title "Points gap. . ." What was that Points Gap again?
I believe around .35mm but would need to check my manual to be sure.
@CK-Cycles seems mine is breaking a quarter turn after the F mark, maybe because I'm using a digital multimeter?
Are you ready.
Nice
Good job Chris.
Nice
Magna-ficant.
Yeah that's awesome I usually kick through it with the decompression lever in a half a dozen times to get things flowing with the oil. It's the 76 model that does not have the little window I have one. Thanks for making the video your help help out quite a few people
Thanks for the comment and the pointer!
Great video! Thanks for going into depth with each part. When replacing parts such as the crank seals, where do you get them from? Is it an eBay kind of job?
I have not bought seals yet. When I do I will try to let you know from where.
It’s nice when you can find new ones.
