i used to think that if i skipped the gym, i was lazy. or if a rock chipped my car window, that i was unlucky. everything that i did or that happened to me had to MEAN something, right?
on bad days, that belief extended all the way to mean something about my whole life... if i was lazy, then maybe my whole life was f*cked... i would never amount to anything.
but in reality, sometimes a sad moment is just that... a sad moment. and like everything, the moment will pass eventually.

    Here are my 5 top tips that I think you should know if you want to learn how to manage your stress and anxiety with meditation 👇 🐞 Have a plan! A good program will take you step-by-step through everything you need to know. Each lesson will build on top of the last so you can lay a really solid foundation for your practice. You can learn more about Become Club, the program I teach, through the link in my bio. 🐞 Set your intention and know your reason for meditating. Do you want to be calm? Maybe you want to be someone others can lean on? 🐞 Have a system for tracking your consistency. Write it down! Keep a historical record of all the times you meditated so every once in a while you can look back and see if you've been consistent and if you've stuck to your plan. 🐞 Make it into a ritual. Did you know meditating can be cozy and enjoyable? Yes! Make a cup of tea or light a candle. Find a patch of sunlight. Find a way to it that works for you. 🐞 Do things purely for joy! Not everything needs to have a utilitarian purpose or be in the service of a greater outcome. You can do things just because you love them.

    the best way i can describe my anxiety was like i was a duck paddling on the surface of a pond, afraid that a shark would swoop up from underneath at any moment to drag me down. i seemed fine on the surface. i was organized, responsive, detail-oriented, and getting my work done on time. but underneath the surface of the water, i was paddling for dear life. from what? i couldn't tell you. but i always felt there was something lurking there. even though i was being praised at work for all the projects i was managing, i felt like it would all turn to sh*t if i took my eye off my email for a second. but at the same time, i was unfocused, getting distracted by every thought and never felt like i was spending my time on things that actually mattered to me. on the weekend, i'd feel bored and disappointed because i couldn't escape the crushing question - is this all there is? today, i'm mentally stronger than i've ever been before. i know when to work and when to rest. my inner voice is kind !! she tells me that i'm doing a good job and i believe her !! i'm proud of how much effort i've put into understanding who i am. when these moments of peace come around i feel them deeply. not because i'm worried they won't come around again. but because i'll never forget what it was like when they seemed so out of reach.

    Yesss I relate so much, I left my $220k job in tech because I could not do it anymore, it was so soul sucking but I think we need to have those experiences to learn what we don't want

    Do you ever sit down to meditate, and suddenly your clothes are itchy, your legs are twitchy, and the longer you sit, the more you feel like you're going to jump out of your skin? This is an INCREDIBLY common experience, and sometimes these sensations can feel like a huge pain in the *ss, getting in the way of feeling calm and peaceful. I have a tip that you might try. Next time this happens, instead of ignoring the feeling, bring your full attention to the fact that this is a strong feeling in the body. And when you feel the urge to fidget, pause just for a few seconds to notice what that urge feels like. Is it like a burning sensation in your leg? Or an aching feeling? Breathe! Does it come with any other feelings? Maybe frustration or the feeling of wanting to make it stop. Are you annoyed that the feeling is there? Just notice all of that. And then simply move your leg or scratch the itch, and notice what that feels like. Maybe relief or release. Gradually you can also watch as the desire to fidget fades away. Then stillness. And then maybe a few minutes later, you feel the desire to fidget arise somewhere else in the body. Over time, you might find that as you're watching, noticing the feeling, it might pass without you needing to move at all. Or not. Either way, don't stress about it.

    Here's what you can do to stop overthinking instead of getting stuck in a never-ending cycle of thoughts: Start to see your thoughts as mental events that come and go, and realize that you don't have to believe or engage with every single one. Once we do that, we can learn to recognize when rumination is likely to happen and choose to go down a different path before it spirals out of control. Doing this can help us separate which problems are real and which ones are imagined. Staying out of rumination mode will help us tackle the real ones more effectively and with more clarity. I've created a library of guided meditations here on my CZcams channel to help you practice becoming aware of your thoughts.

    mindfulness and meditation is full of these little paradoxes. but that's what makes it so interesting! life is nuanced and two things can be true at the same time. so many of us (myself included) consider HARD WORK to be one of our favorite tools. we've been rewarded for it our whole lives. for me, I know that I'm an extremely hard worker. i'm methodical, organized, and thoughtful. i've worked really hard to cultivate these qualities in myself and I consider them some of my greatest strengths. what we have to realize is that resting and learning to be in the present is an equally powerful skill. by cultivating these seemingly opposing skills we become more well rounded. the best version of yourself is able to work when it's time to work, AND able to rest when it's time to rest. one doesn't take away from the other - they add up to a complete whole.

    Great update Amber. I think you are only 2 months in so give yourself some time. I remember sleeping a lot for the first few weeks because I was so burnt out and drained. I wish you the best of luck on this entrepreneur journey you are on. When you look back, this will have been one of the best things you did with your life. Trust the universe :)

      I have lots of tips for this! I’ll make a video for you. In the meantime, I’d recommend experimenting with keeping your eyes open when you start to notice sleepiness creeping up or switch up the time of day you are practicing. Keep me updated on how it goes!

    One of the most common things I hear is that it's hard to find time for meditation. You're busy, and you have a lot on your plate already. So, the thought of finding 20 or even 10 minutes a day to sit in silence doing NOTHING can feel impossible. But trust me, if we want to feel PEACEFUL in our minds and hearts, doing "nothing" is a skill that we have to learn! That's why I love habit stacking -- you can build the new habit of daily meditation by taking advantage of old ones, the things you already do. So if you already are in the habit of going on a walk or going to the gym, I have a great 7-minute, guided meditation for you that you can easily add on to your routine. Start easily habit stacking your meditation practice onto your workout habit on my channel!

    Amber, first you have a real soothing and nice voice. It's like silk in my ears and just calms me down. I love it and you would make great guided meditations. Second, I understand the challenge you are on because I am in a similiar situation. I am 38 and making $200k in a remote position. My parents are also immigrants and I was born in Pakistan but came to US when I was 9. It's incredibly difficult to just quit your job, espcially as my company has invested so much into me in the last 3 years. But I am so misaligned as I don't want to work in a corporate environment again and want to quit and find something else. I am just drained at the end of the day. On the other side, I don't know what i want but I find it very hard to discover anything because I give all my energy to my job. I plan on leaving but fear takes my mind, same as you where I think I can do things better or I won't land this kind of job again. I am glad you had the courage to trust yourself and go with your gut feeling, especially after you tried fixing everything else. Looking forward to seeing your progress on this.

    Just a few questions for ya: Do you ever have those days when you just wake up not feeling it? When it feels like there's a pit in your stomach and a fist clenched around your heart? When you feel this way, do you know what to do? Or do you just go through your day feeling crappy, hoping that it wears off, and maybe being a little snippy with the people around you? If so, save this post -- start by breathing in through the nose. Hold it in for a count of 3. Pause. And then exhale through the mouth with pursed lips, as if you were breathing through a straw, until the lungs are completely empty. Repeat! And don't forget that everyone has days when everything feels harder than it should be. You got this.
