      Antlia makes a lot of filters. I like the Antlia RGB filter. Their narrowband one is good but too narrow for EAA

    • @AZASTROGUY
      @AZASTROGUY Před 5 dny

      @@peterleveillee1321 I only tested their RGB and narrowband. The RGB is good but the focal length of the narrowband is different and requires refocusing. In EAA you're doing a live public event and want to minimize non-presentation time so I prefer filters that can be swapped and no refocusing is needed. I don't know if Antlia makes a parfocal narrowband filter.

I purchased a ZWO ASI178 four years ago to use with my Quark attached to a and Orion ED80 F7.5 refractor. The ED80 was my original DSO scope that was collecting dust so decided to make it a dedicated solar scope. Needles to say I got side-tracted and did not do any solar imaging until now. After watching the this and other videos I know the 178 was not the best choice for the longer FL setup using the ED80 with a Quark so I purchased an ASI174MM Pro. The images are much better. Thank you for the review, I'm looking for a starter HA Solar scope and the 40 seems to be a good one to get my feet wet. Do you have recommendations on the camera to pair with it? And is the 5mm blocking filter a good option? There's a 6mm and 12mm option with the scope (6mm is a small increase in price, but 12mm is more than double the 5mm price.) I can't see dropping the money on the Lunt 100mm until I know I can make use of the 40mm in my seeing conditions. Thanks again!

      If the budget can handle it, the 6 mm blocking filter would be a good choice. The 12 mm would be overkill for this aperture. Regarding cameras, you should look at my separate CZcams tutorial on choosing a camera for a solar telescope. Good luck!

    Many thanks, Mark. I'm awaiting delivery of my Lunt 50 and it feels like I made a good choice, given the performance you acheive with the 40. The 60 would be nice too but I can double stack a 50 for less cost than a single-stacked 60.

      And? How do you like it? I have a C11 and a C14 but to refractor so far…wonder how that is going to be…

      @@philipps3988 It's a great F7 APO. But I already have a TEC140 and a TEC160 so I don't really need that aspect of its capabilities. I have tested it in 'night' mode and it performs well. It's in my review.
