You can lift 300lbs many times per day, in the heat, when you're fatigued.....you Won't be lifting 500lbs, trust me.....even 300lbs can feel heavy in bad conditions, But at least it's Manageable. I don't care how strong you are! I've been bodybuilding my whole life.

I want them all! But I'll settle for my new CB500X. I just ordered crash bars, radiator guard, kickstand footprint enlarger and paddock stand. It's done a whole 830Km. Taking it to Bairnsdale in a couple of weeks for 1000Km service.

I recently bought a Royal Enfield Himalayan. Its a bit heavy but not so much I can't pick it up. But I'll be honest if it was any heavier there is no way I would take it off-road. I grew up on dirt bikes and a bike and dirt = dropping it from time to time. And you are correct about the manufacturers convincing people this os how it needs to be. Its not. It is and always will be lighter bikes rule the dirt. It has to be a balance of both on and off road and sadly these big avd are not it.

Yank here and I agree with my countrymen from the USA. In the State of Florida where I live 80-90mph(128-144kmh) on the highway is standard. Plus the trucks\suv’s\semi are mostly very large and you will have to pass them. I prefer the middleweight bikes as I am getting older, so kilos matter but power is equally important. Unless KTM addresses the CAMshaft failures on the 790 I would not consider either the 790 or CF's version.

KTM 790 weighs more than the 1290 SAS ( dry).

So what are the bikes typically ridden in Southern Africa off-road. Can't be adventure or any that stuff as they are quite cheap The ones on farms and ridden by teens

Don't know much about bikes as only bikes I've ridden in Africa were what we call farm bikes and I was literally on a farm.. Occasionally I rode to the local shops But clearly bike manufacturers are doing a number on the buyers How come buying a car isn't as complicated 🙄🥴 Clearly a scam

When i saw the title saw affordable i came in running to watch it. Only to realise affordability is relative Dont know of the bikes i see and we call as off road bikes among black zimbos sold by China in Zimbabwe Brand new i get a Chinese motorbike that's good for me and my missus to ride on the farm and dust roads across Zimbabwe, same in Mozambique slightly even cheaper and decent on tarred roads. Grand total about 1000usd Ill stick to Chinese as its a hobby for me not something i take too seriously

Drove a GS 1250 for years and years. Switched to Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports L1000 DCT 3 years ago and I never want to go back. Just got back from 3 weeks through the Balkan countries - with a lot of offroad (TET app) - and I am still in love with this one!

I would love a sahara 300, it would be perfect for getting around the desert in california!

Great review! I was a bit afraid that Rally would be a worse bike and that is why you didn't chose it. But it turned out it's just a perfect bike for me. Designed perfectly spend more time on the pawed road and do only light enduro

Easy solution, get a KLX 300. Arguably a better bike anyway.

SWeet bike... But the KTM 690 has 20+more hp and torque. About the same weight. I so really like how it's set up though.. Silly to pay KTM prices just to have to spend a few thousand on upgrades and protection.

Well, I need to ask myself how to define "serious offroading". I can't expect that my road to wherever while "adventure riding" is anything less that 90% of asphalt, but this 10% "offroad" section is unknown - can be gravel, can be rocky. I'm trying to choose right boots, and I'm in the pickle. Especially that I can't afford buying a pair for every ocassion.

I think the proper niche for bigger "adventure bikes" is road touring with the option to MAYBE drive a gravel road here or there. Just dont buy into the marketing BS. These are not offroad bikes, and they were never meant to be.

I can't believe you missed literally the most versatile dual sport ever made, the KLR650. The KLR has more recorded miles than any of the bikes you listed plus it is cheap. The down side is that it is heavy however it has a 6 gal tank. It is the gold wing of dual sports as there are guys with over 200 thousand miles on their bike, original motor. The nice thing about the KLR is you can strip it down to nothing, put knobby tires on and tear it up one weekend, the next, put all the farkels in the world back on and cruise down the highway at 75 MPH. I think it's funny whenever I watch these Australian guys in their husky, ktm bikes not include the KLR, but when you watch their stuff they are always breaking down and having to replace stuff. My KLR has two upgrades, progressive springs, and a top gun rear spring. I've taken it on single track, trails, off road and highway. Never had an issue. My second place bike would be the DR600 then the DRZ400. All the other bikes you listed are crap and require way too much modifications.

the 390 is definitely super intersting one can appeal many 300L users like me.... but for this year Summer adventure is definitely a 300L one! my second one ready to hit the trails after my first one with which i had 40k miles of lovely adventures! always the best Sulid love your videos! Silvio Uk

You would think with KTM being in bed with CFmoto they would bring out a more refined 450MT, Shed a heap of weight and lower the fuel like a 790/890 fuel tank, maybe improve the suspension travel. A premium ktm 450MT as it is its very heavy for a 450 as a budget cfmoto.

I think you are posting the image of the expected KTM 390 rally when talking about the 1390. LoL there is 1000 cc difference. Anyway thanks for your great content

If you are on a budget just get a Royal Enfield Himalayan. Its not going to win races but it will finish them.
