Land given to them in a land grant= stolen after genocide and land theft of indigenous people. Built wealth on tobacco= sat down while african slaves built their wealth. Stop glorifying these kind of people.

As a distant cousin, I am inspired by this cause and this story. It was the Civil War that caused a rift among some brothers in Maryland, and my branch descended from the ones who believed in the Union cause. Even in my line the names Francis and James continued, which is interesting, because it was a Francis who first settled in Maryland from England-probably York-in the 1600’s. I will look for the foundations website. I would like to do what I can.

Now this was great! I have a heart for historical preservation of old properties like this. I would love to see it restored.

Black neighborhoods have more crime. It's a problem with the culture. Blacks and whites have different cultures. Let them both have their own spaces and stop forcing integration. Problem solved! We can all live in this world however let people feel comfortable in their own natural habitat! Everyone is better off that way. We have learned this more post pandemic.

What a sad mistake they have made. This home could have still been a slice of History that so many people could have seen how grand the home was for the people who lived their dreams. They could have done like Builtmore has done.

Why is the history of society not jumping on this for when it's destruction keep it up to date

Time to get together an historical association to clean and then rebuild this sight as an important museum. I cannot believe that determined local people cannot undertake such an important project?

swam there played there, spent a many nights in that old building as a teen with my best friend we went fishing there. im gonna miss that old building with all my heart. i was born and raised there just 2 miles west of the old building. and used to walk down to it every summer with my best friend.
