Would you ever explore an abandoned zoo if you got the opportunity?
Yes I would.
Can't wait for that Dogpatch video. I went there about 6 years ago and didn't even realize what I was driving up in too.
I remember the lion getting out, but didn't know anything about the zoo it came from. That's not the only case of escaped lions in Arkansas though.
ThanX for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Definitely never heard of this place
My parents and I lived there. It was sold to a man named TJ Coker who lived in Texas. We rented the property from him where my parents had an antique shop in the center building. Beautiful place for sure. Glad to know it’s now used for Gods work
Thank you for the additional information! Never knew the names of the people who bought it from Hallie
Do you have any memories of Hallie’s zoo? Would love to hear your story!
My grandparents and mom ran it and 2 siblings worked there from summer of 74 to 78, I think. My grandpa and mom came up with their own bbq sauce recipe and people from all over the country would stop in just for the bbq. Anytime one of us would try to get the recipe from mom, she'd always leave something out. lol
Most of the animals were placed in other zoos. I heard a pair of black panthers were let loose when they couldn't be placed. In the late 80's early 90's, we'd see a black panther in the Chimes area, occasionally and he'd get pretty close. My son saw it in our barn and then all my kids witnessed it stalking deer and gave chase when my daughter threw her arms up and yelled to scare off the deer.
The political connection Ormond had was Bill Clinton. My mom also cleaned house for Ormond and she mentioned him paying her extra to cook a dinner for him and a guest (clinton), she said she never liked clinton but never would say why.
Hallie sold it cuz he didn't want it to make money and it did. He was upset with my grandparents because it was a money maker. He wanted a tax write off.
I'm fine with the drug and alcohol rehabilitation center ( as long as they are medically responsible with the patients who come in) but yea Arkansas sure needs more damn churches........(yes this part is me being sarcastic.) I do live in Arkansas and I don't exactly have an issue with Christianity or any other religion but there's so many damn churches in this state, it's like Walmart except there's way more churches than walmarts in this state. Lol
