stabat mater is the suffering of the mother. it's about the agony mary felt watching her son die. whether you're a believer or not, jesus of nazareth was a person, and he had a mother who loved him. that's really what draws christians to jesus: his humanity.

Definitely a unique take on what is one of my favorite songs. You all managed to hit the emotional threads as well as Ochs did while bringing your own voices and style as a group to the fore. All said, a powerful and well sung performance which I will be continuing to share with others. Thank you as always for another solid performance.

I am a new fan. I have all the Noelle Sing We Clear albums your dad made, Ms. Breunig. Great big fan of John and Tony. I just finished listening to Recollections/revolutions CD borrowed from a friend who got to go to the Berkeley concert recently. I couldn't go as I no longer can drive at night. I love that you included "Few Days" from the CA gold rush and "Which side are you on?" one of the early union songs and the tune to Johnny O Braideslee with new words. It is originally pretty radical about a poacher in the king's forest. Those songs were highly political in the 18rh century-where poachers were hanged, transported to the colonies or imprisoned. Ewan Mccall recorded some ofthese songs on one of his many ballad albums. I would like the lyrics and liner notes for Recollctions/Revolutions but they are not available on the website yet.
