I was gifted that pot from my grandmother a long time ago, but it was given away, thinking it was cast iron, but that makes my mouth water thinking of the ridiculous good taste of that gravy.. That pot looked like a cast iron skillet with all the use. Thanks Brother!
This is how my parents taught me to cook it. Dad was from mobile Al and this was a staple on our table weekly. Only thing I do differently is I add one or two Serrano peppers to the pot when I add the water. I just take the tops off the Serranos and throw them in. Perfect amount of heat to complement the gravy.
I want to say how much I appreciate this recipe. I haven’t even attempted to make this in at least 10 years but this is what I grew up on (Not just breakfast-anytime) and the exact method my parents and grandparents used to make it.

Chef, using prime rib (or ribeye) as gravy steaks is pretty fancy. I’m not fancy, I’m just a fella having fun with a food fire and phone camera. Therefore I will try this with chuck roast instead.

Fellow Chef here. I also enjoy growing my produce, but don't have much of a yard to use. I would have really liked to see how many potatoes you ended up with when using a 5 gallon bucket like the one in the beginning of this video. Be a great way for anyone to grow on an apartment balcony or patio. For the die hards they could decorate them in some manner and add them to their landscaping. I guess there's a bunch of things that you can do with this. LOL. Thanks Chef...

@chefbourque yeah. They good to cook in. When lived in Louisiana I had many dishes cooked in em .....one the best I remembered was a rabbit smothered in a Cajun gravy similar to yours. Delicious. Am just kind of a health nerd in a way I guess. Some studies show scraping aluminum pots with stainless steel tho probably isn't the healthiest practice. That don't mean what's cooked in them isn't absolutely delicious tho. 😋
