What I Service on My Toyotas
zhlédnutí 15KPřed měsícem
Many of our customers and subscribers have told us that Toyota dealers have recommended that they only change the oil in their Toyota every 10,000 miles. When we posted our Latest Honda video, many of our Toyota fans also mentioned that the dealer said the same thing about their Toyota's CVT fluid. In this video, we explain the service intervals we use to keep our Toyota Camrys running for 200,...

Great video. As a senior, I not only agree with you regarding warranties, but I'll add ANY EXTENDED WARRANTY!!! Appliances, tools, tires, home, lawn equipment, etc. It seems that whatever is broken, that part is not covered! I simply refuse to purchase any extended warranty on anything now. I watch a lot of auto repair videos on CZcams (I am a retired mechanic) and everyone of them say "stay away". I am surprised that many independent garages don't refuse any warranty work. All the work you folks have to put into filing claims and not getting full compensation - I would walk away if I had my own shop. If enough garages did this, perhaps these warranty companies would shut down. I have a 12 year old car and they still are calling me saying my warranty is about to expire!! Keep up your excellent videos.
Take your money and put it in an emergency fund
Both are great for their quality, longevity and reliability. That's why Toyota Tundra and Honda Insight are my favorite cars for different purposes.
IMO, what's REALLY causing the problem is...the government. What a surprise.
About half way through your video I was thinking "Why would this guy even accept those junk aftermarket plans". Great video !
Only buy the manufacturers warranty. Direct from ford, gm, etc.
no warranty is worth it. Better off just building an emergency fund
Mazda Is Always The Answer
DO NOT buy insurance for things you can afford to cover yourself.
The dude is a liar. 😎 TOYOTA CVT TRANSMISSIONS ARE THE BEST. EVERYTHING ELSE IS JUNK. TOYOTA RAN CVT'S IN ASIA FOR 10 YEARS BEFORE BRING TO THE US.
Endurance is the number one warranty.
Great video! I really wish you were my mechanic!
Auto repair shops need to start telling these warranty companies that if they want full tear downs then they have to authorized and pay upfront to protect the customer. Those warranty people are evil. 😂 full tear down so they can find a way out of paying and stick it to the customer.
Everything is right on,except the cabin air filter. My opinion should change every other oil change.
Great information!
I spent $7200 on an extended warranty for a 2018 Silverado.. It's getting a new motor, someday, allegedly. It's been in the shop since February 3rd. I've been going back and forth with GM over this. I had to buy a freaking car! The warranty gave me a rental for 10 days, the dealer. BARNS CROSSING CHEVROLET in New Albany, Ms 38652 does not do loaners, and it would have cost me over 1k a month to rent a Camry. The above mentioned dealer tried to get me to just trade the truck in and offered me 3k below KBB rough trade in. It is far from rough I take care of my vehicles.
When I was married my wife wanted to buy one for 4 cars at $1,800 each I said no every time out of all 4 cars we had one belt need replaced I saved us thousands of dollars. She bought a car after we were divorced and bought a warranty.
I bought aftermarket warranty years ago and had a transmission problem. The mechanic said it was probably a valve body or valve issue. The insurance would only coverthe work done on the valve ONLY after the transmission was disassembled. All labor except for the time to replace the defective part wasn't covered. They have been out of business for a long time. Live and learn
My 2011 Camry hasn't needed any major repair. Doesn't even burn oil. Wife's 1998 Rav4 just had the original exhaust replaced. Everything including the AC still works. Still original.
Has anybody had any problem with endurance auto warranty
I totally believe it. However, I have never had a claim denied or had to pay anything more than a deductible. But, Im not sure if this makes a difference, I always go to a dealership for warrenty. Things I know are not covered, then I go to a local mechanic I trust. Sorry, dont know if that makes a difference. In addition, warrenties dealership offers are always negotiable, if it's taxable, its negotiable. Cool channel btw.
The GMMP warranty from Chevrolet is actually quite good. No issues with claims at all
Yeah they'll promise you a rose garden, but WON'T tell you that they AIN'T gonna cover shit! Whatever goes wrong with your car they'll say- oh that's NOT covered! I'm an ASE Certified Tech, have seen it sooo many times! Nowadays they got clowns like that retired rapper telling you, oh just get Car Shield! DON'T believe them people, I've seen them deny repairs SOOO many times that honestly when they, sometimes do pay for something, it's something minor
A Honda dealership pesters me monthly via an email from the owner (yeah right) to purchase extended warranty coverage. It's an 18' accord with $59K. No thanks!
they're always like your warranty is about to expire. and I'm thinking I don't even have a warranty left to expire.
as someone who has done most of my own work on everything I own I would rather put my money in an account then pay a shop directly. I usually have an idea of what the parts are gonna cost and how much is involved in a repair that I don't want to do myself.
The only warranties I like are from the manufacturer. I still don’t buy them, but they at least get me to read the fine print.
In some states, you can research the companies via the insurance authority of the state. Most states require companies to allow you to cancel the extended warranty, 30 days for a used vehicle, and 60 days for a new vehicle. Since they are taxable, they are negotiable, I am considering one for the first time, and I'm researching them before I even decide on what car I buy. It's a can of worms, supposedly there are third parties that offer extended warranties, getting the price beforehand allows some negotiation with the dealer.
I have a 1990 Silverado with 360000 miles on it. They call and say "our records show that your automobile warranty is about to expire or has already expired." You think?
My wife's friend bought a new truck she bought a warranty ask her why new truck factory warranty. They were auto deduct from her bank account. Had to change account number to get the monthly deduction to stop
I had a warranty pay out 11k on a ford escape worth 12k, this video is just as anecdotal as my story.
This is any warranty company. I've had, as a contractor, had a home warranty APPROVE an estimate, and then AFTER THE WORK IS DONE tried to deny or negotiate line items on the invoice IDENTICAL to the estimate. Dealing with the warranty company typically takes longer than the job itself.
Can you recommend any aftermarket warranties that are better than others?
Can you recommend a garage in the Provo area? My son and his wife desperately need a good garage like yours but they are 1 hour away from you.
since cvt is 'fragile', why don't manufacturer treat it like timing belt? it needs to be replaced at certain mileage. is it cheaper to replace the cvt belt before it breaks?
Did you have any experience with Mechanical Breakdown Insurance from Geico?
I moved in January. I forwarded all mail to my P.O. Box. I have received no mail at my home --except from Carshield. No-one could find me but them. Two mailings. With this kind of marketing expense, they must be trimming the claims budget.
This is why I don't pay for extended warranties. It would be nice if someone else paid to fix or replace an engine or transmission but I can't count on that.
Great info it really has helped me so thank you
I know 3 people who have Carshield. Two of the three were refused payment on claims.
I've always been told on the Toyota side (Lexus) the service interval recommendations are coming straight from the MFG - and it's 10K at Lexus as well. Disappointing to now see Honda following suit. With GDI, Turbos, High Compression, smaller displacement and full synthetic being the recommended oil you'd think the 5K interval could not be stressed enough and that there'd be a hardline by the manufacturers to push their dealers. Makes me wonder if MFG mindset is one that if you don't recommend a 10K interval for oil than it's perceived you're building an inferior engine.
I havent owned many cars myself, maybe 6-8 of different brands (Japan and European) and I change oil somewhat between 10k kms (6k miles) and 7.5k miles and have never ever had engine issues with any of the brand (no minor issues like burning oil as well) so I think 5k miles is a bit too excessive, nothing wrong with that but a bit too much. Of course, that is just based of my very limited experience
I am so happy I stumbled onto your place = i had no idea warrenty went like this and am very happy you shared this info !!
I feel Honda reliability has been going down. I have zero confidence on their CVT transmission. And they been doing other parts and add ons that I just don’t think are as good as 2010s Hondas
This is without a doubt the best explanation I've ever heard about aftermarket warranties. Years ago I purchased a mini Cooper Clubman and purchased an aftermarket warranty through mini but it wasn't a mini warranty. There were several red flags that if I wasn't purchasing the warranty for the benefit of my wife I would have passed. I also bought a scheduled maintenance package which was okay but cost too much. Today's vehicles are computers on wheels and any warranty that doesn't include electronics isn't worth consideration. That vehicle was towed to the dealership 3x the first year of ownership & because it still had the manufacturer's warranty all costs were covered. I never had to use the extended warranty and still own the car. BTW... I just subscribed to your channel 👍 I think the only warranties that are worth considering are the ones offered by the dealerships through the manufacturer. Some companies like Toyota offer extended bumper-to-bumper warranties that if purchased new with the car seem to be a much better value and can extend the warranty for up to 7 years.
Just found this channel and I love it ! If I need a mechanic, I’ll be going to your shop ! Thanks for the content and keep it up !
My 2015 Honda civic cvt transmission went out at 138K. The dealership advised when I purchased the car brand to never change the trans fluid!
I blame the government, the CAFE standards are responsible for these crap small displacement turbo direct injection garbage, as well as high oil change recommendations. But it's all smoke and mirrors, Now people are told to drive around for a while because they'll get oil dilution if they don't, and having to buy a new car has a carbon footprint making and disposing of all these new shitty cars. Meanwhile, the consumers go broke.
I've been in the car biz since 1972, I don't think we need most of these new features car makers push on us, they the car makers are in a race between themselves to bring new features to us whether we truly need them or not, but people are forced to buy these cars as that's what's out there when we go to buy a new car, in many cases things come as standard so we have no choice, Sadly the more we have in a car means there is more to go wrong, gone is the day when things are easy or cheap to fix, In particular I dislike the less knobs and buttons which we can operate by touch and feel, today more and more is on a tablet or screen and in order to use that we have to take our eyes off the road which seems so dangerous to me. We cant use our cell phones but we have to focus in on a screen, it makes no sense.
Might as well take your money and flush it down the toilet
