I had Pink/Green hair and went Full black, overdressed on Plateau Boots in the Club a Long time: many man told me, I Look arrogant and they dont like „Girls like me“ (but I get less man Talking to me… What I liked) But the really FANTASTIC Thing was: woment treated me like Friends! Esspecialy women who did Not feel confortable in the Club streight up went to me and told me (Every Night at least 2 women) they later told me I have „Harley Quinn Vibes“ and they felt Like I would Support them 100% (what I obviosly did… I Know the Security there hehe) Maybe it was because the Style or because I felt really good that time

In media, I imagine, the male gaze representation is prevalent because more men make the movies, and any representation of the characters is very limited to a few hours at best. In real life, I think it's trickier. As animals, sex is in the equation for us. Also verbally, I think men and women can express likes and dislikes differently. Words are words and in matters of opinion you are free to take what you want. Also, fashion is generally an entirely different concept for men and women, with most men not interested at all, so that plays into it as well. The "sexy" outfit immediately shows to people your confidence in your body, which is sexually and mentally appealing, so men were stimulated in both ways having one lead to the other, women were stimulated only mentally. With the "style" outfit, men don't get such a clear impression, because they don't know what your outfit means, but women are still stimulated mentally. That's what I've been thinking.

My first thought at seeing your female gaze outfit was that it reminded me of the stereotypical lesbian outfit: the baggy clothes, the kinda boxy jacket, even down to the baseball cap. I initially wondered what made that association click in my head, then I realized - duh! - if a woman isn't into men, she probably won't try to cater to the male gaze (and who wants to get looked at like that anyway?), so she probably will dress in what she finds comfortable, or what gives her a confidence boost, etc. etc. How neat!

EXACTLY women are taken seriously when they're covered up, and not viewed as objects but more as humans Coming from a muslim women and a hijabi, thats exactly the point of the hijab, we are ordered to wear it and cover up not to torture us, its not that we're oppressed, its just so that we dont go through the pains of being harrased by men to understand the fact that we need to cover up, we're taught the "male gaze" dierectly from the start to protect ourselves I appreciate the courage you have to do such an experiment, walking uncomfortably in an outfit that will surely pull perverts to show us that we're objects to men when we show them our physique. And something i like to note that, women are taught nowadays that power is when you're courageous enough to wear whatever you want, but thats just wrong, yet women try to defend this statement, so the compliments from women in the male gaze outfit were more dierect and loud While in the female gaze outfit, women are stunned by your beauty, the beauty that isn't sexualized, but are afraid to tell you that since its opposite to the fact women are trying to accept

I've had men compliment my outfit respectfully. I have a really fuzzy sweater and one guy said "Your sweater looks very comfy". I also have a long colorful skirt and a guy just said it's pretty.

I’m surprised that women are shocked by the men behaviour with the « male gaze » outfit. Men are first attracted by the body then the mind. That’s a reality. If you dress sensually and sexy, you will attract the men who thinks that you’re easy. They take that outfit as an indication that you’re here to play and not be serious at all. They look at your body not at you. But on the « female gaze » outfit you look more distant, I mean by that you don’t look like you are out to get them. That’s why it’s easier to compliment you when they’re with their partner. You look cool. And we as women know that we rather dress ourselves for ourselves and the women out there. Hearing a compliment from other women is the best. You all know it. In French we say : « l’habit ne fait pas le moine. Mais il y contribue grandement » (the clothes don’t make a monk. But it helps a lot). You’re not what you ware but people are not in your mind and they don’t necessarily see you as the image you try to project.

I just gave up on complimenting women. I love fashion and I've got all kinds of outfits but when i try to tell that to the opposite sex, its always assumed im hitting on them. Women just don't seem to like compliments from men, and maybe thats because of experiences like what she just had. 🤷🏿‍♂️ The guys respond a lot more positively to compliments, so ive learned to just stick to that.
