    Thank you for this video! I would also like to do a hydraulic brake conversion, but I have far less experience with bike maintenance. A few questions: 1. Do you know if this would be a similar process with SRAMs TT hydro brakes? I replaced the 105 with SRAM Rival AXS including blips/clics, so would want to stick with SRAM brakes 2. Was this project worth the effort? 3. How well does this work and do you have any problems after using them? 4. Having relatively little experience, but access to all of the tools, do you think that it’s worth trying myself vs paying a bike shop?

    • @howtotriathlon
      @howtotriathlon Před měsícem

      @@italiansurprise I haven’t worked with SRAM components, but I imagine the process will be similar. I did it myself because I want to know how my bike works so I can fix it during a race, when I may not see a mechanic for a long time. It will be much simpler to have my LBS did it for me. The only problem I had was that I didn’t tighten the rear bleed valve enough and it leaked a small amount of brake oil on the disc, causing it to screech all the time.

    Report after my first ride: I did a 30 mile bike ride to test out the tube and it felt pretty good. However, I noticed that the tube was losing air very quickly. I took the tube out and found a tiny, needle-sized puncture, so I don't think the Ridenow is more resistant to puncture than a standard butyl tube. I had a Ironman 70.3 race last weekend and I didn't want to take any risk, so I ended up using my remaining Pirelli Smartube with a valve stem extension for my rear tire and it held up well for the race. I carried the Ridenow as my spare tube for the race due to its size and weight and I have to test it out more to see how reliable they are.

    Also don’t put the valve blocker because you cannot repump your tube with it!! You pump cannot fully cover the valve! The valve blocker is good for a 60mm rip with 85mm tube valve which sticks out a lot and can move. This is what I have. In my case a valve blocker makes sense and I could still put my pump fully on the valve

Overall, it was not worth it even though I enjoy the experience of installing everything on the bike.

      @howtotriathlon there are several alternatives to the di2 hydraulic shifters.. other brands that work with shimano di2

    how did you connette 4 elements simultaniously with only a dual split connections? have yuo got 2 split?

    • @howtotriathlon
      @howtotriathlon Před rokem

      Yes, I used a EW-JC130 3-way wire to connect the two brake shifters and the other end of the wire was connected to a 4-way SM-JC41 junction box, which was connected to the two TT shifters (1 wire per shifter) and the SM-PCE02 USB unit.

    Mine won't connect to the app. When I press and hold the button till the blue light flashes and I let go, it flashes red 3 times, is that normal? The battery is full.

    • @howtotriathlon
      @howtotriathlon Před rokem

      Try holding the button on the rear derailleur between 0.5 to 2 seconds each time while the app is trying to connect to the device. On the Ultegra 8150, holding longer than 2 seconds will go to maintenance mode and won't connect. If that still doesn't work, try opening Bluetooth in Settings and delete the derailleur from the list of Bluetooth device and then add it back.

    • @howtotriathlon
      @howtotriathlon Před rokem

      BTW, I happen to look at the manual today and it says flashing red means the battery is close to empty. Have you tried charging the battery to full again? You should see a green light when you press on the button once when the battery is full.

      @@howtotriathlon thanks! Unfortunately the E-TUBE app is how I got on the situation to begin with. I was updating wirelessly on the app. Had my phone on do not disturb so someone calling me wouldn’t mess up the download. Well 65% Into the download the app failed and the download failed and won’t connect anymore and the bike is bricked and will only turn on for 4 seconds then shuts back off. So this device is prob going to be my only way to fix it.

    • @howtotriathlon
      @howtotriathlon Před rokem

      Yes, but the firmware has to be 3.3.0 or higher. I bought my shifters around December 2022 and they were already at the latest version. Please See my other video on firmware update: czcams.com/video/tN8HdLO2NsE/video.html You can use find the Shimano firmware info at bike.shimano.com/en-US/e-tube/project/firmware/detail.html?model=ST-R9180

    • @howtotriathlon
      @howtotriathlon Před rokem

      If you don't have the SM-PCE02 tool, you may be able to update the firmware from your phone by connecting the shifter to the rear derailleur by wire. However, you may need to connect it to a 11-speed derailleur first to update the firmware, so it will work with a 12-speed derailleur. I also have a video on using the iPhone E-tube app for firmware updates: czcams.com/video/xBJUZM6jEAQ/video.html
