Arps connected by scale tones and blistering fast alternate picking. This is the stuff that lights up the fretboard! Finally had a chance to dive into this.. thanks Luke.

@@lukeman8605 that is sick🤙
Bro, I've almost never seen an online guitar teacher that actually desires to teach more than he desires to bait for attention and money by the perpetual teaser lessons that don't teach anybody 💩
ahh thanks, brother. I teach a lot, it feels natural. I figure people will buy or they won't.
@@lukeman8605 Goated. The guitar world needs teachers like you man. I can't wait to learn more from you!
thanks Luke! Great skills!
thank you brother glad you enjoyed!
Drop A? A standard?
I realized, after 12 years, that I didn't alternate picking cuz I was trying to play some Obscura riffs and I noticed that my hand was going wrong, with no pattern, no consistency
Wow you really are talented! Love that guitar a dream for me to save and get the custom Japan model someday.
Make a shred album bro
Dawe thanks bro
you didnt even play it lmao
It's not a distortion it's a duncan 78 pickup
I remember when it came out back in 1988, and the bridge pickup was Seymour Duncan SH-7 Distortion (before trem-buckers) and the neck pickup was Seymour Duncan SSL-1R which is a vintage staggered strat pickup that is for reversed players, but George liked it the right way :) Original Floyd Rose (not Syn clair 2) one volume/push pull selector and a bent strat style jack plate on the lower side. Body shape is what they at Kramer called a "Pacer Deluxe", a slightly oversized M1/Dinky.
Fantastic brother!
Full video please 🙏
also i don't think i see any lesson links in any description here.
I dig the honesty in the videos. no other content creator is willing to give it to you straight, 'Learn your A minor scale in pentatonic'. If you haven't already, a video on essential fundamentals would be killer.
thanks for pointing that out brotha. I just added the link
I've come up with a picking pattern that allows you to cross the string twice going down and twice going up. I call it Pendulum Picking. It's a two joint movement pattern. As you pick down, you simultaneously move your elbow backwards allowing you to attack the string again on the path down. Reverse the movement and you hit the string again 2 times on the way up. This will reduce the work you have to do by 50%. No one else seems to be using this. I call it Pendulum Picking because that is the path the tip of the pick travels in. I play in Chamelion ( Fantasy Metal )
The custom shop version uses a maple body and its damm heavy. Well the Kamikaze 1 does from Japan. I have one. The LTD eagle is using alder.
This is such a more honest and realistic perspective than the slant jargon trap. Appreciated

Great!!! The amp is EVH? Red Chanel?
thank you good sir. that's correct
@@lukeman8605 Thank you! Brilliant playing and tone!!!!
Thats an interesting picking technique i wonder if it facilitates memory for long note passages? One of the key troubles is remembering sequences and various picking techniques help to attach meaning to the notes implying various chords.
Thunderhorse axe is back from the dead!
Cool playing, great technique and speed! 🤘🏼
Brad Gillis summoned! Knew Crystal growing up in HB, Dean's sister. Would love going to see LW, Incredible song composition.
What a ripper. Why’d you choose to play less of the repeating licks at the end? Don’t like how the great Chris Degarmo wrote it?
good fucking ear bro. I only had 5 minutes to learn it. I was a little shakey on that part
@@lukeman8605 why only 5 minutes?

Yes economy picking can distract from alternate picking. Thats why i dont do it. Only last year did i learn how to hold a pick correctly and do outside alternate picking. Had teachers since 1987 not one said hold the pick like tgis and pick this way. The main thing to me is can i remember the notes? Say i improvise to Agriona by MacAlpine do my techniques help my memory of notes? If not i discard the technique. I pick very hard you can hear it on my videos. I can play left handed also but thats like doing things differently mentally. Thx for your videos.
Yes of course brother glad you got some interest and cool tidbit to share
What is your pedalboard set up?
I have the new specter phantom ghost model from figment.
I alternate pick arpeggios. Why? Using directional, or, sweep picking to me is like a car with no brakes. Both are tools certainly though ive found i can hear the difference between those techniques and strict alternate picking. Also, alternate helps the fretting hands muscle memory. Lastly, using diff width picks affects hand synch, a 0.88mm on some days, 1.0 others, and 1.6mm on still others depending on the tone and feel i want.
Master sweep pecker
Dinky bodies are like 3/4 the size of a standard strat sized body so yea a Charvel, Jackson, warmouth they’re gonna be smaller
Well, Paul Gilbert did say that shred guitar was something of an athletic competition. Muscular guitar. 😁
haha paul knows best thats for sure brother
Its ya boy = click off never to see again.
just right after I finish writing my comment to boost a little engagement. Thank you, brother we've gotta stay focused.
This is absolutely amazing dude pretty damn spot on to Brandons flare as well 💪
Grady diss 😂. Dude initially helped me play some Yngwie but it totally got me stuck playing anything else because I was so focused on slant.
Lol man I’ll probably collaborate with him at some point and I respect his vision, success. I get annoyed when my new clients want to talk about pick slanting lol
I made the huge mistake of not getting the sextuplets with a click solid first. Dude is totally right about drilling that first. It makes all the difference in the world. Sweeping out of time totally sound like garbage and playing them faster to attempt to cover up slop is not going to help. Good advice.
I'm gonna be honest: I'm not that interested in learning sweep picking. I'm just here to reward an excellent thumbnail with a little engagement.
Hahaha let’s goooo
What's your string height setup looking like?
You ever been on the space needle?
@@lukeman8605 No, just seen it from afar.
@@eastcoaster757 then how could you be sure it wasn’t my string action?
@@lukeman8605 Yeah Luke, what’s your string action looking like? Can you fit a pick between the fret and the string? Two picks? Same for all strings?
@@eastcoaster757 Well Brian why do you ask? would it not depend on the gauge of these picks?? what say you? which fret? which strings? these are all great questions.
Absolutely incredible my man! Great stuff!
Totally awesome advice and I don’t want to sound like Kirk either
lol right on man
Great video. I’ve got to suck it up and relearn alternate picking. You are so right about getting economy picking down then losing the alternate picking chops. Glad I’m not alone. I’m definitely going to check out more of your videos.
I love this guy - amazing chops, and a totally chill vibe and teaching approach. He makes great points here too, like the false idea that you must strictly alternate pick everything you do. When I was younger and I was into Eddie Van Halen and George Lynch, I was much more legato. I started getting into Yngwie and Paul Gilbert, and when it came out in, I guess 1988? I got Paul's Intense Rock video and started learning from that. And much like Luke says, instead of paying strict attention to what he was doing, I actually just kind of approached it with my own method that worked very quickly and very well for me. I just basically did the licks that he was showing, but when I crossed strings I would do two down strokes in a row, and at the time did not realize that was economy picking, but it's just what came naturally to me. I alternate pick strictly on a single string, but when it comes to crossing strings I'm all economy and it works great for me. Combining all techniques, sweeping, tapping legato, alternate picking, economy picking - you can really put together a great, well-rounded bag of tricks and style as a player. Great stuff Luke! 🤘🎸🔥
wow brother super positive message my man. really appreciate the kindess. cool history too, brotha. keep ripping!

It’s whole step, neutral, two whole steps, neutral, whole step.
In another brick he bends the C all the way up to F I’m pretty sure. Flat 7 all the way up to flat 3 in d minor pentatonic…
