Imagine deleting something from the internet (the cloud) and thinking its gone forever. Lol

My guy, Apple already released a statement - the photos are being restored from a copy that was in the Files app.

On iOS, the deleted photos are "permanently deleted" from the recently deleted library in two ways: Waiting 30 days for automatic removal. And manually deleting them before the auto removal. I wonder if there is some correlation with what is being restored by the update based on how they were deleted. I also wonder if syncing them to other devices and deleting them from there has anything to do with it. I'd be pissed if my library was suddenly cluttered with old photos. I'm reluctant to upgrade now. Not because I have anything bad in my photos, but just because I don't want my library trashed. I updated iOS from 15 to 17 recently, and it removed all my deleted voicemails. A known issue apparently since a few other people reported it with no solution. Mine came back after the next update. Many had already called their carrier and lost them entirely due to whatever their carrier tried to do to fix it on the backend. My cell service and eSIM was all screwed up after the upgrade from 15 to 17. I suspect because I left wifi calling enabled before I upgraded. I had to disable wifi calling and "cold restart" it to fix it. I suspected the voicemails were still there because of this experience. I disabled wifi calling before doing the next upgrade and the voicemails all came back. Thing is a piece of shit, and so is the company and their software. If money weren't so tight, I'd buy an Android phone. I've had this iPhone for five years. I don't even use the "smart features" except for a timer and a glorified magazine for toilet time. I might should get a Nokia 6310 since I heard they are re-releasing it. That the first model of cell phone I ever owned. Never caused me any problems. I could probably use some sort of self-limiting feature (T9 text prediction) of being able to write text messages, etc. as long as this pointless essay in these comments (though, this ramble was written on a PC keyboard). I write too much. I don't know, there's no one to talk to here. /shoulder_shrug_emoji

this is why I use linux with full disk encryption. Even if someone where to steal my drives it would be all mumbo jumbo from the way I got it setup

Android -superiority- _NECESSITY_ strikes again! iCloud is just another example of Apple failing to properly program fundamentally important security into devices used by millions. Remember to always encrypt with the open GPG before giving some a key to your life forever, regardless of how reputable a cloud service is.

Remember when they wanted to scan all user files ON THE DEVICE for CSAM ? I do and not even that did discourage IOS users, so reappearing photos won't either 😂 And you now what ? Everything IOS is closed source, so they likely implemented the whole CSAM scanning thing anyways 🤣 Oh and anything saved in any cloud is not only accessible to you but the cloud provider as well. It's just the hard drive of another (corporate) entity after all...

If your network is getting wrecked by scraped images, good. You were supposed to ask for consent for those images and if you properly compensated artists and actually were honest about research and development, people wouldn't be making trapped images to screw with your robot. You started an arms race to replace artists and they're fighting back.

I can only assume that they're selling these "deleted" photos. I can't any other reason to store 2.2 billion people's data.

The rumor is that if you deleted a photo from iCloud and your phone then it reapers out of nowhere, it’s the employees at Apple are sharing users photos among themselves. The majority of photos that people are being talked about are nudes. Is this a coincidence or just theory that has some truth to it.

As time goes on I see Apple as an even more shitty company, I hope fat lawsuit comes their way for this bs.

Don’t use the Cloud. Drives and computers are cheap enough for you to run your own storage solutions. That said, Apple’s Advanced Data Protection system is not completely awful.

Some samsung phone have the problem. For what wcwr reason . They will not erase some file . It. Could be document. Music or pictures . They will not let you erase the picture.

The only "bug" is that it reappeared, not that Apple kept them saved for years... The latter is a feature.

Something tells me my social credit score has lowered after accidentally syncing my copy of the NES ROM hack Super Knotzee Benis Cartel Freedom Fighters 3 with iCloud. I just wanted to play it on iPad through Delta. Glad to know Apple is committed though to preserving that piece of art for the rest of history.

I knew I should not trust „the cloud“. I did not, and I still don't. Everything on my devices. I want full control. And I really like it that way. The unfortunate side effect is accidental deletion. Happened to me like 3× in the last…forever. Sometimes I delete things too early. Oh, well. I take this over giving my data to someone else any day.
