Thanks for this. You showed iDrive 8.5 is a little better than iDrive 8. The next step for BMW is to bring back iDrive 7 with physical buttons that cut our button-pushing in half. BMW can rename it iDrive 9. In aviation there is a concept of minimizing cockpit workload. Having to push buttons just to get to other buttons, as BMW makes you do in iDrive 8 & 8.5, goes against that concept, makes a driver less safe, and is ridiculous. A triumph of form over substance.

Good stuff. Once you set up a new name for “hey BMW” (mine is Jarvis) you no longer need to say “hello”. You can just say the name of the assistant and the command.

Another feature of the AC (climate control) command, is the ability to control the fan on the AC.

For number one if you lock the car when you get out it will automatically shut the screens off as long as you have shut the car off.

Great video, however not complete. The BMW (the 2024 X5 Mild Hybrid) cannot detect any parking options in a parking lot UNLESS there are painted lines or other vehicles. (Not really sure which one it needs, lines or cars to activate.

The app is worse than useless during the build period. Mine did not update the build progress until week 5. And only after several calls to the dealer. BMW you really should not wait till week 5 to tell someone their build hasn't started yet. You think?

That sounds good but with my build they didn't bother to update my "Track Your Build" until the end of the 5th week. Only after I called them several times about it. After 5 weeks of waiting patiently the app still showed entering the build queue "Congratulations...". After waiting for the dealer to return my calls I was very very concerned. BMW really shouldn't wait until the 5th week of a six week build to tell you they haven't even started yet. It was like they had canceled Christmas and didn't even bother to tell me. The next morning as I was heading out to the Mercades-Benz dealer I decided to check the app one last time. It had updated - all the way to step 8 of a 16 step build. The dealer insists it will ship next week (week 7). He has promised to call me sometime between now and then to update me. (yeah right). I am having a hard time getting excited about it. I am having all kinds of second thoughts about the deal as well now - I no longer like the color, the interior or the wheels. BMW needs to get rid of that app tracking tool - it is a joke. It came very close to causing me walking away from the deal. That an a disinterested sales rep. They still have a week to screw it up again.

We have owned five or six different BMWs our latest one is a 2023 430 I convertible. Bmw has the most annoying navigation in any vehicle I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned plenty of them. My Ford bronco the navigation is a piece of cake to work with, Bmw is aggravating as hell to use. try to end the destination you gotta tell it five different times to end the damn thing, their system is horrible.

I have an X3. Some told me it has to take premium gas. Some tell me regular. I put in premium.

My X5 SUV automatically unlocks/locks upon approach/departure. I want to leave the car at the airport for my daughter to drive, hiding the key. During a test to see how this might work the car OPENS whenever the key is near the car and REMAINS open until I walk away w/the key in hand. When I MANUALLY lock the car, it still OPENS when I hide the key. HELP!
