    10:00. Oh, just a little by thought. I do not know if it is just something you can do on the enhanced edition, but I was able to color code the rings surrounding my party members (I am obviously talking about the rings surrounding each party member. Normally they are green, friendly N.P.C's are blue and enemies are red, though non confronting enemies can also be blue). It just makes it easier to distinguish between them at a glance. Their different colored rings are determined according to their primary clothing colors, if you want to try this.

    4:50. You should really consider a Bard in your party. I know it sounds ludicrous to most, but trust me, a Bard can actually also do most of the things that a rogue or thief can do, plus it is naturally a caster and therefore would not have to be multi classed and also have the additional musical abilities that I can promise you proves very beneficial to your party... However... On the down side, I have to also mention that, like the sorcerer class, their spells are rather limited. Meaning there's not a lot to choose from when leveling up and such. I do love my sorcerers though. Even though I've been warned about their spell selection a number of times. Here's my honest retaliation to that, however. Yes. There is a limited spell selection for your sorcerers, but on higher levels, the spells that you are able to select, are very, VERY lethal.

    0:31. Whoh! Coredumped. First off. Hi. I'm back and since I am a bit tired of Icewind dale 2, I Decided to spend some time with Number 1 again, but once again... It's been a while for me, and though, like in number 2, I use the same strategy, where I export my characters from each time through, just before the end and then import them back into my new game, something went wrong and I felt it would be better for me to start from scratch with this one. So once again, I figured, I'd consult with the expert, but then I hear a shocking statement that 'Icewind dale is the less popular cousin of the Baldur's gate games'. Like you I have played both Baldur's gate and Icewind dale, and my opinion would differ from yours right here already. Baldur's gate was the predecessor of Icewind dale and in my opinion not even close to the level. But, as I say, that's just my opinion. You are obviously free to have yours... Even if it's wrong.😂😂😂

    Preparations for the endgame, but that endgame is going to be long. This story has an odd pacing. At this point, I have the mindset "All right, let's go to the end already", but it is very long in coming. Meanwhile, you might want to level-up your advisors, as far as they're also companions, for the additional attribute point here and there.

    • @CoredumpedGaming
      @CoredumpedGaming Před 2 hodinami

      I agree completely. The game is quite long, in my opinion maybe a bit too long for its own good, even more so if you go for the true final boss. I find the pacing of the game to be quite fine for the most part but it definitely reaches a point where I'm like, "ok, so this is going to be the end right?" And this question gets asked multiple times before it actually does :p not to mention you have to deal with some particularly nasty and annoying encounters before you get there which just makes you feel like it's dragging even more. In my first playthrough when I got to the house at the edge of time and had to deal with all those ghost mages and their stat drains I just wanted the game to be over and not deal with that. A good point on the advisors, thanks, I'll want to level them up also due to the possible necessity to play with them slightly in the house at the edge of time

    Great vid. So having played on auto, I found the game gave you more than enough time to get everything done within time limits with plenty of time to spare to dick around. Does full management make the time crunch much more difficult or do you still feel like you get enough time to get through the main game fairly comfortably? Thanks again, I K ow I been asking alot of questions before this new playthrough.

    • @CoredumpedGaming
      @CoredumpedGaming Před 2 hodinami

      Nah, ask away, this is why the comments section exists and I'm happy to help. Time is relative, as they say :p nowadays I would say the game gives you more than enough time to do whatever you need in the game, because I know what to do. In my first playthrough though there were times where I felt restricted by it. I would say in terms of time, the main difference is that in manual kingdom management you will want/need to go back to the barony every once in a while to check new events and take some time dealing with those, which in auto if I remember correctly you don't need to do. Other than that I don't think it changes the time frames for quests, but you may have to deal with certain kingdom events quickly or risk losing your barony which I don't believe you have to deal with in auto (sorry for not giving a more concrete answer but it has been a while since I've played the game with auto management).

      It is also my preference yes. I know a lot of people prefer the "everything per encounter" thing, but I find it to be a worse system overall. Pretty much every fight in PoE2, once you get enough power and spells becomes the same as you are just constantly spamming the same high level spells in every single encounter, something that didn't happen in PoE1. I also prefer the versatility of the grimoires and learning spells from grimoires in PoE1 than the system they had in 2.

I find pathfinding in other games of this style worse than PoE though. As for the combat, it may just be the learning curve. Of course it may not just be your style but I'll share my experience with it - when I first picked up PoE I hated the combat, felt clunky, with a weird system that didn't make sense and the battles all seemed impossible. I did push through that feeling though (which in hindsight I believe was caused by my being so used to infinity engine games based on dungeons & dragons so this one just felt bad in comparison at the start) and found the combat to be actually very very enjoyable. It became one of my favourite cRPGs. As kind of an off-topic but relevant for this discussion: for the longest time I thought total war games would be perfect for me but I hated the gameplay so I stayed away from there for years and years. Recently I pushed through that initial impression, got a better grasp of how combat worked and now all I want is more total war in my veins :p

I will give the sequel a chance to see if those things are better in it.

      It's the type of game that I truly believe I would enjoy quite a lot, but I think its too late for me now to get into such an old (dare I say outdated?) gameplay system and UI :( It's the same thing with ultima underworld (maybe you also know it) - I love everything about the game in concept, as one of my favourite games of all time is Arx Fatalis which is based on the ultima underworld games, I purchased all 3 of them in a GoG sale, tried playing them but the way you interact with the game, aiming etc. it was sadly just too clunky for me :( I do really hope I will some day find the time and patience to try these games again as I truly believe I would enjoy them (ultima underworlds, eye of the beholder and also added bard's tale to the list now :D). And yeah it's been a while! I must admit that I failed this political intrigue quest. And the reason was not that I didn't speak with that NPC outside (and I agree it's not good design to put him outside after what the quest tells you), but that I failed to uncover Regina and condemned Macharius. Nonetheless, I like the quest. Apart from that, a patch for this game dropped yesterday. What do you think of it? I'm not exactly thrilled about yet another Officer nerf.

      I have not yet gone into the details of the patch as I haven't had time for much of anything lately lol the current playthrough has been finished so the videos will not feature the latest patch. I can tell you right now though that I am very afraid that they will nerf the officer class to the point where it is no longer fun... I think having a powerful party in this game is a very fun experience and I don't think they should ruin that experience. I'm ok with balance changes as long as they don't go overboard. I'll catch up with the patch notes when I have the time and I'll reply here again with my impression on it.

    I love and play(ed) lots of RPGs - but the newer ones. Mostly because I am relatively young (28 years) and the oldest RPG I grew up with was Skyrim. I always missed something though, I could not really tell what it was but these RPGs were at the same time really addictive but also very frustrating which always bothered me. Through the BG3 hype I came in touch with old CRPGs and finally decided on getting started with them. I bought BG1EE on Steam last week and began playing mostly blind. And what can I say - I really enjoy it! I love the oldschoolish 2d graphics which I find so timeless, no need for wannabe photorealism. But also I really enjoy the fact that this game is addictive but at the same time, instead of frustrating you, after 2+ hrs I am just like "meh, ok thats enaugh for today" and just move on. That is so extremely relaxing, never had this with any game, I finally can switch off while playing a game instead of having a new source of stress through it. What impresses me most is, that this game is super deep (considering its a 1998 game). Thats the reason why I eventually decided to no longer play 100% blind and watch a guide, but I am still playing in my own pace without worrying too much for efficiency. I find this guide to be a really good one as you give valuable tips and tricks but no "optimal path" which I really like, modern gaming is way too concerned with min maxing and all that crap. Thank you very much for helping me and many others on getting started in this awesome journey of Baldurs Gate and I suppose CRPGs in general. Cheers!

      First of all, welcome to the channel :D and, even more importantly, welcome to the awesome world of cRPGs! I'm happy to see that people who grew up on more modern games can still appreciate these awesome oldies, I know that for a lot of people just the graphics or the UI is an immediate turn off and they don't even bothet trying out these games (their loss :p). I think one of the best things that came out of BG3, besides a good game of course, was a lot of interest in other cRPGs. You touch a lot of very good points in your comment and I just want to stress out a few: I think your mindset approaching these games (or any game really) is the correct one - going in to explore things at your own pace, trying out stuff, see what you like, what works, etc. instead of just copying some meta hyper-tuned builds or walkthroughs that don't allow the player to truly experience the game for what it is, especially games such as these where you have so much freedom of what to do. You're in for a truly great adventure which I hope you'll love and take your time with, and, that if you like these games, make sure to try out some of the other great ones and some of my personal favourites in Pillars of Eternity and Pathfinder (playthroughs and guides for both in the channel in case you want to get some idea of what those games are like).
