Control City Freak
United States
Registrace 22. 04. 2021
This channel covers every 2 digit Interstate Highway in America, and more! I've been a roadgeek and a Control City Freak my whole life, and I've driven in every state in the Lower 48. In this channel, I'll be showing control city signs on each 1 and 2 digit (2di) Interstate Highway in the continental United States and will strive to make as complete a record as possible. I'll also be getting into the roadgeek weeds here and there, showing downtown skylines and state border crossings, and making corny jokes. I welcome all to join my geeky tour of every primary Interstate in the country!
CCF Summer Roadtrip (and explaining upcoming the All Request Episode)

US 75 goes right down the middle of the country, and right by the home of the now-happening College World Series. Washington Highway 99 is a remnant of the great US 99, which once crossed the West Coast from border to border and was largely replaced by I-5. Florida's Turnpike: Swamps and Suburbs
White River Junction is a major tourist center for the area. It is the home of the VA hospital and most of the chain hotels for tourists going to Killington Ski Area, Woodstock, Dartmouth College, and Quechee Gorge and Resort. Lebanon is one of only 10 cities in New Hampshire and is the home of Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, the only Level 1 trauma center, cancer research hospital, and pediatric hospital north of Boston. Lebanon is the economic heart of the region whereas Hanover is a small college town.
Going south on 89, when you cross into NH, there used to be a tall ledge between the highway and the exit 20 off ramp. That is where a large Bienvenue Au/Welcome to New Hampshire sign used to be. Recent construction in the area widening NH 12a and bridge replacements on 89 required the removal of the ledge and sign.
Lincolns Boyhood home signs were the original Indiana signs or the last generation of signs for Indiana. I'm 30 and as a child in the late 90s my grandparents would take me camping with them at their trailer by Brookville Lake in Indiana and that Lincoln boyhood home sign was the sign at the Ohio Indiana border on the state route mu grandpa drove on. This border was unique as in the Ohio state route 725 ends at the stateline road, but you continue left to Indiana State Road 44 at the next right. I also suggest if you do any state routes for Ohio or Indiana, IN. 44, 101, 1 are good Indiana routes in eastern Indiana. In Ohio, 3, 4, 48, 73, 122, 123, 503, 725 are good ones.
They do sign Pittsburgh in Weirton on US 22.

In NH 93 is signed Plymouth because of Plymouth State University which is the second largest college in the state. They do not sign it Vermont because of the single lane Franconia Notch. NH wants you to take 89 to Vermont to minimize traffic in the notch and reduce pollution in the area.
395 in CT is relatively new...it was just part of the CT turnpike and was only recently extended to the Mass Pike. 290 preceded it and 190 spurs of that, so that is why the different numbers. 93 South in Boston was only signed Quincy because it was never updated after 93 was expanded to 95. Prior to the expansion it was just MA 128 so it wasn't interstate standard for trucking. So they couldn't sign it for Providence if the weight restrictions were different. Besides that, due to traffic, they didn't want people using that route to go to Providence. That is why all the Providence signs are on 95 all around the city.
Hi, my request for the All Requests is I-80 Nebraska exit 454/13th Street, which is closest to where I grew up. Thank you 😊 - Christy

19:28 I always thought that Hagerstown should be signed on 70 but now that I'm thinking about Hagerstown doesn't really make sense on 70 like it does on 81 because you have 2 ginormous cities that are just a bit past Hagerstown and plus we don't even get into the city limits of Hagerstown on 70

23:54 80 EAST, 90 TOLL RD
Fun Fact.....the first exit in Mass southbound on 95 actually starts in NH. The Welcome to Massachusetts sign is actually on the border.
New Haven is major in that it is also the northern terminus of the Long Island Ferry.
Mileage signs north of Boston typically show the distance to the next town and the next city, hence the Waterville/Bangor sign, Orono/Houlton sign, etc. Orono is the home of the University of Maine.
I lived in Irving for 2 years and commuted to Mansfield 5 days a week down 360 and I can tell you that having the Toll extended to just after the exit I took to go to work saved me almost 20 minutes of sitting at lights. The traffic while not bad in your video was very dense at times and the frontage roads could go thorough 5 to 7 light cycles before you got through them. I have since moved out of state where I don't even have an Interstate in my back yard as I did in all 4 cities i lived in in Texas but I still love driving in Texas every chance I get due to the cool things they do with the road networks. Waxahachie is the most commonly misspoken city name in Texas by non Texas residents. As you did you broke the word "WAX a Hatch ee" when in reality the word is an American Indian word pronounced "WOK sa HATCH ee" and most likely means CALF'S TAIL Also Toll 360 is constantly being extended thus the large land area between the two frontage roads.
This needs a rebooted version ASAP as a short!
I didn't even need to pay $5 for my exit. You mentioned SE 45th and Topeka Blvd. I live in the trailer park behind Kwick Shop.
Anyone else expecting to see Andre or Roman from TFL hit the stopwatch just before entering the Eisenhower Tunnel?
I think I-57 should co sign with I-30 From Little Rock Ar To Dallas Tx And From Dallas Head Towards Presidio Tx Via US 67 Can Be A Great Port Corridor From Mexicos Pacific Coast To The Midwest Since Presidio/Ojinaga Mexico Is Part Of The Entrance Of The Pacific Corridor It Can Be A Parallel Route Of I-69

1️⃣ change was made since these photos were made. Exit to Chattanooga from Interstate 🛣️ 75 north is NOW on the right side. The exit has recently been reconfigured.
In May of 2023 we went to Cave City,KY using I 65 and while there were signs for tolls we never went through one. I don't think it has been completed. It could be different now.

For the all requests video, I'd like to see exit 446 on US-95 Northbound in Idaho. You should be able to see a nice view of Silverwood Theme Park from the exit. I missed my chance in the original US-95 video.
Thanks! I do plan to do northbound US 95 relatively soon, for one of the Chiefs-Raiders games. I could run this request in the 95 north ep if you prefer. US 95 North will probably happen like 2 weeks after the request show.
@@ControlCityFreak yeah you can put it in the 95 north video, thanks
One correction & a clarification + a small bit of history for you... The troll you mentioned is actually under the Fremont Bridge not the George Washington Memorial Bridge (more commonly known as the Aurora Avenue Bridge). Also, the Aurora Avenue bridge is somewhat infamous for two incidents: First one was a when a King County Metro Bus went over the side of the bridge in the southbound direction back in the early 2000s after a passenger on the bus shot the driver & it landed upright on the roof of an apartment building next to the bridge & the second was the Ride the Ducks accident a few years ago where one of the tour vehicles belonging to Ride The Ducks Seattle crossed the center line of the bridge & collided with a charter bus, unfortunately killing a few people in the charter bus. The bridge was built in the 1920s ^& is considered a bit narrow for modern vehicles, especially considering the speed that traffic is usually going at through that particular area.
When i drove the "80/76 West to Denver, 25 South to Las Cruces, 10 West" route from Chicago to Tucson .... i regrettably didn't have time (nor funds) to take a day detour to drive 70 West through the Rockies ... i gotta make that a bucket list excursion. even if i fly into Denver and add 2 days just for that purpose
I dont agree on Mansfield, i do think they should sign it for Midlothian. There is a Major Junction with US 67 where you can choose to go to San Angelo or stay on 287 to go to Houston
Which 270? The interstates in respectively MO/IL, OH, and MD? Or the US route that goes through places like Hugo, OK?
