Travel Tips for Aztlan offered countless talent the opportunity to be heard loud and clear. I thank you for your support as a member of the Chicano/a/x poetry scene of the 90's/2000's. The guest spots were always a blast. The short-term intern gig I had will always be a highlight and a check off my bucket list. Your friendship is always treasured. Bravo to Abelardo as well for the decades of support and for getting the information on shows, performances, exhibitions within the Chicano/a/x Latino community out into the hands of the masses.

Thank you Milena for hosting Steve DeBro to discuss the making of 18th and Grand and how it came to be. So many fond memories came flooding back when I watched the documentary! I grew up on the CA Central Coast 2 1/2 hours from LA, but thanks to early cable TV, was able to watch boxing, wrestling, and roller derby from the Olympic Auditorium on KCOP and KTLA in the mid 1960’s to mid 1970’s. The Olympic to me at the time was a mystical place, I never got an opportunity to attend an event there, but Steve’s documentary tells the amazing story of the place, the people, and it made me as a viewer feel like I was there during that incredible era. I’m so thankful 18th and Grand forever preserves the rich history of the Olympic and those times in Los Angeles.

The Toy Dolls and Adicts was the most crowded show I ever saw .

My first Olympic show was The Exploited, D.O.A, Kraut, and others. June 1st, 1984. I was in eighth grade.

I loved those shows! My teenage experiences at the Olympic in 1984 were transformative. Dead Kennedys was a highlight

My late Uncle witnessed the revolution on the first films of war back the 1920s ? ( I think) and was inspired for the rest of his life. He often spoke about how magnificent they looked. Hello, My father was Joe Garcia from Richmond, Ca. He took my mother and I to the Chicano Moratorium. My Mother has shared many details of that day. I was 8 months old so I appreciate the amazing stories. Sadly my pops passed of cancer less then 2 years later......Thank you for getting this together.
