Junkyard Jam by Kevin Mixon

Don't watch, just listen! You'll have to bring in the trash for this hard-driving number! While using both rock and introductory Afro-Cuban styles, there's also an added twist: percussionists perform on optional "junkyard" instruments such as five-gallon buckets and plastic garbage cans and lids. A spirited middle section allows other band members to join in the fun too. Like us on Facebook - f...
Emperata Overture by Claude T. Smith

Don't watch, just listen! Emperata Overture by Claude T. Smith! Emperata Overture, written in 1964, is one of Smith's most popular works. Composed in ABA form, Emperata Overture is developed from a motive presented in the opening fanfare by the trumpets and trombones. After a contrasting middle section, the principle theme is heard in a fugue which leads to a brilliant conclusion. (Babecka) Lik...

Don't watch, just listen! Alpine Meadow by Steve Hodges! The simple, memorable melody sets the stage for interesting harmonic and textural treatments by all sections of the ensemble. An effective transition builds to a seamless modulation which gradually diminishes to a quiet conclusion. Like us on Facebook - radioupload Comment or message with songs you'd like to hear!

My high school band director, a brilliant musician..graduate of St.Olaf and the Vandercook School of Music..repeatedly said during rehearsals " There is nothing like a beautiful melody" and that is exactly why this piece is so compelling !

First chair trombone, Washington Irving Intermediate, Springfield, VA 7th & 8th grade, 1984/85. Played a Smith piece for Festival each year. Graded on a scale of 3 to 1, 1 being the best. We got straight 1's every festival playing Grade 5/6 music (what most HS play). It's been almost 40 years and I can still hum every part. Thank you Mr. Ben Pasquale. You were an AMAZING band teacher.

My band is really small (15 players total, we're still trying to build the program back up after the previous director left) so when we played this I was the only 1st trumpet and with that part being such a chop blower it was a lot of pressure but omg... we still got gold @ competition even with our small composition, I'm so proud of our band :D
