Yes, i owned a taxi cab company and many of them had the injected 2.8 engines in them. They would run forever. I had a couple personal cars with 2.8 and 3.1. Great snappy little motors. No plastic BS back then. Now I have a Buick Lesebre 3800. Best v6 ever made in America. GM screwed up dropping 3800 motor for that high tech Turd 3.6. Power means nothing to me. It's about Longevity and reliability.

Bought a brand new Blue 1987 2 door Pontiac Grand Am with 2.5 , 3 speed auto. I loved it. It was Bulletproof and I towed a 16 ft Bayliner boat with no issues. Yes. It wasn't a speed demon. But that cast iron block and head was a tractor like motor. Boats used it also. It was reliable and I still see them mail trucks going strong every day. I wish they never discontinued them. These Turd engines they build today are disposable trash. Duke was the King in my eyes. I'm 62 and owned 34 vehicles. All of them had great reliable motors and trannies in them. I miss the 70's,80's,90's so much. thanks for the memories.

I owned Black 1985 Monte Carlo SS with the burgundy interior. I was so proud of owning that car. It was a big car. Not like a Cadillac or Lincoln, or anything like that, but it was also a sleek looking car. And it’s sort of held it all back in those days. What really made a difference in the way it ran but if you put electric fans on it. On that car, you can actually feel the difference. And then if you wanted to make most cars of those years, look at your tail lights you could put nitrous on it. Which is what I did on that little 305. The 305 held up great, But the transmission couldn’t take the extra jolt. I would like to buy an old car from my past, but I can’t pick one because they were all special to me. Every single one. And that sucks because I will never have that kind of money.

I've had several S-10 and S-15 pickups over the years with the Iron Duke engine. I never had a problem with any of them-except one. Here's a funny story. It's about an Iron Duke I had in an '88 Chevy S-10. I guess it was around 2005 or so that this happened. My father bought the truck new in '87, and handed it down to me. I used it to go back and forth to college, about a 625-mile round-trip. At this point, the truck had about 150k miles on it. No problems whatsoever to that point. I was changing the spark plugs one day, and one of them just wouldn't come out. I'm a fairly handy amateur mechanic, who can rebuild engines and transmissions, and every trick I knew couldn't get that plug out. After a few beers, my friend and I decided to just use a cheater bar and try to bust it loose. Well, the plug came out, alright, but it twisted part of the head out with it. All the threading just stayed on the spark plug. Since this was an old vehicle, and being an 80s Chevy truck, the body was rusting pretty bad, I didn't want to put a ton of money in it. So, I just plopped a new plug in, slathered it in J-B Weld, and called it good! That truck's still running just fine here on the farm today. The only other thing I've done to it is build a wooden flatbed for it, but that has nothing to do with the Iron Duke. I can't think of a much better endorsement than this story for what an Iron Duke will put up with and still just keep on ticking.

I’ve got a 91 gmc sierra r3500 with the original 350tbi and can’t figure out why it goes into a limp mode/loses power once warmed up. Runs rough at idle in park after warmed up. Codes are showing its running lean and QDM solenoid A and B monitored voltages differ from command. Engine has 75k on the odometer and not sure if it’s ever been rebuilt, #8 cylinder started to develop a slight tick before this happend aswell. I’m 25 and haven’t found anyone local who’s good with these and I have just kept throwing parts at it with no luck. Don’t plan on getting rid of the truck just miss driving it, any input is appreciated

The N body cars from GM were originally meant to replace the Pontiac Grand Prix, Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, and Buick Regal on the RWD A body platform which was later renamed G body after the introduction of the FWD A body in the 1982 model year due to concerns of gasoline predicted to be much higher in price by the mid '80s; that was the same rationale used to downsize the full-size cars to a smaller FWD platform around the same era. However, the three aforementioned cars were selling very strongly and gas prices remained low, so they stayed in production for a few more model years while the N body replaced the X bodyvcars and four-door models were developed.

I sold Pontiacs in the mid 80's in southern Virginia and had the opportunity to see first hand how well the Grand Am was received by the public. Fantastic times! Good looking cars with the split grill and clean lines. I sold a ton of them in both 2 and 4 door models, LE and SE versions. They were very popular, I sold 5 one day. We were taking orders for these like never before. People were actually waiting in line for a chance to purchase them, our dealership had a waiting list for these cars. The most popular color was "Flame Red", it was a somewhat dark red and it was a good looking color to say the least. Hard to believe I rarely see any today. It was an amazing time for Pontiac Motor Division. Good video and Thanks for sharing this it brought back great memories. Pontiac was known for great designed cars with excitement! I hope GM decides to bring back Pontiac as I've been reading and hearing some rumors to that lately.
