Married to my Japanese wife for 30 years this year. Started as penpals in HS. All of what you said is true even after all this time.... I'm still too dense to understand a lot of the implied things she tries to tell me - partially cultural and partially just because I'm a guy. I'm also overly blunt and direct even with other guys - never been good at social stuff. Love her all the more for knowing her patience with me after all this time.
