    I definitely have seen this in commercial kitchens. Without lube, and with high temperatures, it's impossible without causing damage.

    Yep. Had this happen on my ‘92 cabriolet. Wound up breaking the bolt in half trying to get it out 🙃

    Why we use 8.8 bolt over 10.9 and 12.9 in iron and steel making industries?

    Using a flat washer and lock washer together negates the lock washer. If you need a flat washer use a grade c lock nut or nylock nut. This is in reference to the 5 piece set up.

    @user-gg1lt3wq1o Před 20 dny

    I see this often but is there really any need for a lock washer on the head side of the bolt? What exactly are you accomplishing other than shortening the bolt?

    The teeth didnt quite fit into the dry wall as it tore it a bit when i rotated hard. So now it is bit loose from the front. Will that be problem if I hang a heavy mirror for example?

  • @jaylawson8535
    @jaylawson8535 Před měsícem

    You don't include the threads portion of the bolt in your length. Only the shank (grip length). The grip length will change with every bolt size. A 6" bolt will have the same amount of threads as a 9" bolt but the 9" bolt will have a longer grip length. The grip length (shank) is the portion of the bolt that is the same thickness of whatever material you are bolting. Bad video.

    Never use black oxide where you expect any moisture: it will rust. Beyond that just pick zinc and call it a day. You won’t regularly find galvanized stuff unless you’re building a deck.

    If I used this to hang a mirror on the wall, would I have to unscrew the main screw slightly so it sticks back out again? Does that undo the tightening behind the wall if you unscrew?

    • @BoltsandNutscom

  • @OutCome5

    Names are backwards. The screws that go straight through metal are the self tapping. Literally says it on every box of them we use at work.
