    I would love about 100x more videos about fasteners and the trade offs. Material types, screw types, nut and bolt types. I’m a new DYIer and frankly there are just way too many choices and options and currently i just head to the big box store and get something that kinda looks right but have very little idea if I’m even close to having a correct solution. Thanks for this.

    What type of screws are needed for 20 gauge steel studs - self-drilling or self-tapping? Is 20 gauge considered light or heavy gauge steel? What length is preferred - 1/2 or 3/4"?

    • @BoltsandNutscom
      @BoltsandNutscom  Před rokem +1

      That’s a great question, unfortunately we’re not familiar on the sheets themself. We’ve put the drilling screws through pretty thick steel, I’m personally a bigger fan of those. Saves the pre drill process. 20 gauge is roughly .0359” thickness so either of those lengths will work. It’ll depend what you are attaching or going into. I hope those helps! Thanks for watching!

    Does it effect the joint, if the self driven screws are driven by hammer blows instead of screwing them by screw driver because the former is common when the screws are used in large projects like attaching roofing sheets to timber.

      Hi Tantary, sorry I’m not aware of hammering these in. We’ve only ever screwed them in. Thanks for watching!

    My plan is to secure some iron roofing sheets to a metal framework(100mm x 100mm hollow square posts of 1.4mm thick stainless steel) by self drilling screws. Would the anchorage force of just 1 or 2 threads for each screw be strong enough to hold the roofing sheets in storms?

    what are pilot point screws?

    • @BoltsandNutscom
      @BoltsandNutscom  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello Shaikh screws have an unthreaded cylindrical tip that is smaller than the fastener diameter. This helps speed alignment during automated assembly. These would not be related to sheet metal screws. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thank you!
