I enjoy camping because it makes me feel like a kid. As a kid I always enjoyed making forts. Camping gives me that feeling again even if I’m camping in my car in a Walmart parking lot or in the forest in my tent. The only part I don’t like is the packing and unpacking for the trip.

We just went camping as a family and it is always a great time. Thank you for your videos.

Redwood breathes through porous ground above the roots. Walking up to redwoods and “hugging” them en masse is actually stifling Redwoods. That is why in national parks surround them with fences so people do not do this. People copy behaviors without thinking so social media worsens the impact.

I have enjoyed your videos as I anticipated my 2024 Sienna (Canadian version), took delivery in April 2024 and built it in a camper (taking ideas from you and many others on CZcams....thank you!). This current video is making think of rotating my tires. I am also thinking ahead and planning for winter. My question has to do with wheels -- steel or alloy?

I love your videoa. I hope Toyota bring back the removable 2nd row seats capability. I think Toyota lost a lot of customers because of it. 😅

Using the back well for a fridge is good, but it seems like a waste of weight and space for the bedding. You could have used milk crates throughout for storage and an inflatable mattress to sleep on. The matrix of crates would have easily supported the weight and when not inflated, the mattress would take up far less space than the memory foam.

For us the Sienna is a great day camper. I liked your bathroom in the back idea so much I have a set up for our car only because around this part of California public restrooms can be either dirty or just closed. Now we can stay out at the beach or the mountains or shopping a lot longer. I know people say we have no bathrooms because of the homeless and stuff but bathrooms are expensive upkeep even for schools so it's more about the money I guess. Then you have two bathrooms men and women so double the coast. I do understand. This idea is actually useful outside of just camping. 😃

your setup is so good, and you just keep making it better. super impressive. everytime I watch your videos, I try and figure out which bay area tech company youre a VP at, and how awesome itd be to have you as my boss. but what would be more awesome, is having a sienna hybrid setup like yours.

I've been reviewing minivan camper conversion videos on YT for a few months now, especially the Toyota Sienna. Many start off with the sofa-bed conversion designs -- but after a while most eventually abandon the idea of sofa-bed designs because as you well pointed out -- people go camping to be outdoors, and not sit cooped up on a mini sofa inside a minivan or waste time having to set up their beds everyday. Hopefully more people take will note and focus on a high quality bed system design and forget about wasting time, energy, and money on sofa-bed conversion designs. The portable gazebo tents like your Clam Quick tent are an excellent replacement for mini sofas inside minivans (I got myself a Gazelle hexagon gazebo tent). Thanks for updating the ever perfection of your camping rig.

Thanks for the update, Tellvia. I have you to thank for the Iceco refrigerator, the 8020 set up in the rear, and the pullout Iceco shelf. I used your ideas to set up the rear of my 2022 Sienna, along with the 1500W Jackery. I set up a solo camper van with a sink, bed and microwave and I hope to have a van build video up sometime this Summer. The biggest hassle with the inverter is remembering to turn the inverter ON in the dash every single time I get back in the car for a drive. So easy to forget hitting that button. Such a bummer to arrive at a camp site and the Jackery is completely dead because I forgot to hit that stupid button. It would be nice if Toyota had an option by which you could set the inverter to automatically come on as soon as you start the van.

Mattress idea. I use a high quality air mattress, filled to very firm, with a 2 inch memory foam topper. This allows relatively compact storage and provides a very comfortable mattress.

Thanks! Q: Why add a battery when you could simply rely on the stock hybrid system for power? I've camped in my Prius for approximately 8 months without additional batteries. I installed a 1000 watt inverter for AC power and I've lived comfortably without the cost/weight of an additional battery.

I wonder the capacity of the battery in the van? The charge rate. The average draw you get from running the hvac system let’s say in a 80 degree night. You would think that for the health of the battery that running it down to 20 percent then charging it back up to 85 would prolong the life of the battery. Battery memory.

If only they made a camping mode to utilize the hybrid design. Changing the parameters from one mode to another at the flip of a switch. I’m sure there’s a programmer out there who can do just that. I also bet there’s a lot of Sienna owners out there who would pay to have a camping mode set of parameters installed.

I squat on the floor using my feet to lift the wheel and the protruding of the oil valve is created problem when something hit it when traveling could drain the oil? I like the battery monitor tool though. 😊

Hey Tellvia: Thanks for the ideas. I’m finding that tricking out a Sienna (‘14) is much more difficult than my previous Tacoma was to modify. I used 80/20 in it and am glad to see your use of it in the Sienna. I’m wondering where you sourced the plastic feet and how does that end of the frame keep from sliding side to side? Much appreciate you putting this up. Rod

Somewhere along the coast in the south are side of the road camping spots to rent. For the disabled person I am, I really enjoyed my night there. But my favorites are where you camped and another campground. Millpond and Jedidiah Smith, I think, are the names.

Love your videos. Could you please share how to make your salad dressing? That campground and another in N CA are my two favorite places to be. I recently got a 2015 Sienna XLE after renting a 2023 hybrid. Unfortunately, a mouse got in the headliner for a couple weeks before I figured it out. Now my doors won’t lock, and I have overhead thumping whenever I start my vehicle. For a couple nights I banged the headliner until it dropped. Couldn’t get it out for another few days until I drove quickly over bumpy roads. I’ve learned a lesson, but I’ve not yet got the wires fixed.
