Hello from Belgium. Je fais de la CB depuis 1977, et possede encore mon President Lincoln, premier du nom, en parfait etat et fonctionnel. Je n'ai pas enore installe d'antenne depuis mon demenagement, mais cela ne va pas tarder.

very good explanation, Can you please enlighten me to the following question: in my case at the moment I have 2 antenna One vertical + One G5RV while now I am using the Alpha delta-2 switch box and currently connected to a manual MFJ 962e afterwards with the MFJ 998 auto if I want it to memorize settings for both antenna I have to remove both antennas from the switch box correct? No need for it! and obviously connect directly both antenna to the MFJ 998? And from the MFJ 998 I would select the antenna I want to work with Correct in this way each time I use one or the other the MFJ 998 is storing the settings in memory?

Just took delivery on this amp. Brought in 240V wiring for it and the amp runs very quiet. I am very impressed with the reports I am getting with it too.

Sometimes any little bit of disorganization in my shack is maddening to me. I joke that a bit of adhd is having a bit of ocd, but it's uber focus and then no focus at all. Then i get discouraged and find that proverbial squirrel. Thank you for the ideas.

I am seemingly always trying to reorganize my shack. I have 4 mobiles in the shack, it's also an office, a workspace and the lofts are storage for my other hobbies and the wifes decorations. I also added solar. If i do, i usually gain more confidence and knowledge.

Bonjour monsieur très beau shack Je voulais vous demander un conseil svp Je suis cibist, swr,pmr et plus J'ai trois antenne, une antron a99 pour la cibi, une antenne long fil pour hf 10-80 et une j-pole pour la uhf et vhf J'arrive pas à les monter sur le même support antenne car j'écoute en permanence les fréquences détresse aéronautique et marine et quand je fait la cibi grosse interférences et même pour les hf Un conseil sera la bienvenue pour les distance ou hauteur de chaque antenne svp merci

This is an excellent well done review. The best I have seen done in the ham radio videos. I have been researching this radio, even though this four years later, it is still relevant. The short comings of the radio of small display is made easier with the optional blue tooth microphone that also has a display screen. Very well done and concise explanation and demonstration of the features. Most reviews of ham stuff is just talking about the item and never really doing anything with it. Great job. I will probably buy this radio even though it’s not made by a mainstream ham radio manufacturer.

The SCU-20 cable broke for many under Windows 11, meaning we get the privilege of buying a new USB cable (the new SCU-58 kit also comes with the audio cable and the new USB cable) so we can use the FT100 with Win 11 and Wires-X. Fortunately, Yaesu finally dropped the price of this kit to $39. It was about $90 bucks not long ago.

Effectivement la quantité est extraordinaire vous avez une bonne mentalité c'est bien d'expliquer au nouveau et même à des personnes qui débutent c'est le bon moyen de faire prendre goût à la radio et d'aller plus loin j'en suis on peut dire une effectivement je me suis déjà retrouvé sur des fréquence relais RA ou lij faut en principe être RA la discussion c'est avéré très courtoise sympathique on ne m'a pas envoyé péter parce que je n'avais pas encore passé mon certificat que je n'ai toujours pas pour le moment cela fait plaisir de voir qu'il y a de belles personnes patientes qui explique les choses que ça continue et qu'il y ait de plus en plus de radio amateur et même personne qui s'y intéresse c'est très important la continuité de tout cela ça en devient vite une passion et quand on aime la bidouille ce n'est que du bonheur bravo pour votre format démission je viens de m'abonner et je pense que je vais me régaler, parler de Armelle je pense que c'est la personne qui a repris le firmware egzumer pour un appareil UV k-5 si c'est le même je pense il est formidable une personne exceptionnelle qui est en plus très compétent vraiment dans ma région ont fait des QsO avec pas mal de Québécois donc un qui ne dort pas beaucoup qui à son âge quand même je ne veux pas me tromper je crois que c'est Lucien, et du coup nous avons des suites des belges des personnes qui viennent un peu du monde entier quasiment par le biais justement de cette technologie formidable 👍

Superbe vidéo je viens de tomber dessus effectivement c'est une excellente idée dans notre région ont ce sert d'un système un peu similaire on va dire à part que pour le coup il y a une partie du réseau qui est raccordé en VoIP , j'aimerais si j'ai bien compris avoir un système totalement radio analogique chose qui a l'air fesable vous n'utilisez pas la VoIP tout ce qui est EchoLink , surcom ect? Pas de munble ni clé 4G deriere cela ? Et dernière question peux ont utilisé ce système sur les fréquences UHF PMR 446 en étant pas radioamateur pour le moment je vais préparer ma licence bien sûr je suis absolument passionné de radio même le SDR aussi ce n'est que du bonheur tellement de belles choses techniques intéressantes, cordialement.

By reading a lot of these comments, I find a common question: "Can my radio talk to some other radio or some other repeater?" Removing these special talk groups and nodes and such, does it really matter what "type of digital" the radio is? Can they communicate with each other? That is what people want to know. One comment down below hit the nail on the head for MOST hams. MOST hams are not electrical engineers. Most just want to talk to each other. Albeit there are a FEW who thrive on electro-magic, most do not. The digital systems have complicated the understand needed by the average guy to the point of dis-interest. The best way I can describe the frustration is by using this illustration from my past: In the early part of the space race, the 1960s, the USA spent several months and millions of dollars developing a way for the astronauts to be able to take notes on their experiments and findings in space. The "Space Pen" was the end result of a several months long project. The space pen used a pressurized ink chamber which was activated by clicking the top of the pen making the writing end of the pen protrude (just like any ball point pen). The pressurized ink was able to flow out onto the paper and make a mark (which was the sought after result). The Russians solved this same problem by using a pencil. Simple as that. This is how I see digital ham radio. Just look at how many videos some of the people who commented here had to watch before they began to get a basic understand of this mess (not a full understanding). Its much like reading the pamphlet the Game Department writes to attempt to describe their poorly written fishing regulations.

Hi Another question. I hv the amp enable hooked up to my amp and all are running well! Question: With the amp on(opr), not in standby, can I re-tune the mfj-998, just to touch up the swr, or do I need to switch the amp to standby? I am thinking NO, because the amp enable id hooked up, but I may be wrong. Thanku again, Billy

Salut Pascal, Merci pour cette démonstration. Je viens d’acquérir une radio similaire "President Ronald avec une puissance porteuse : 13 W AM (50 W PEP) / 35 W FM 10M/12M" mais je ne comprends pas du tout de quoi il s'agit. C'est quoi au juste 10M / 12M ? Je croyais avoir acheté une radio CB bien ordinaire pour mettre dans l'auto pour être en sécurité lors de nos déplacement durant notre expédition sur la route 389 / 500 Trans Québec / Labrador de Baie Comeau, Fermont jusqu'à Blanc Sablon et Terre-Neuve. De ce que je comprends c'est que je dois avoir une licence de radio amateur VE2 pour pouvoir utilisé cet appareil ? Donc ce n'est pas une radio CB normale ? J’ai essayer de trouver des informations simple mais je ne trouve pas aucune information nul part. J'ai déjà eu des CB par le passé mais il n'y a jamais été question de 10M /12M !!! Tu en fais une courte mention dans cette vidéo mais pas assez pour que je puisse comprendre de quoi il s'agit. Si je dois avoir une licence d'opérateur de radio amateur pour utilisé cette radio, où j'obtiens cette licence ? Quel formation faut-il suivre ? Combien de temps ça prend ? surprenant appareil : très bien décrit et je pense peu connu en France : j' hésitais entre IC705 ou autres alors pas d' hésitation e vais voir ou en acheter un. Il en est proposé un d'"occasion sur un site mais vu le prix je n'hésiterai pas pour du neuf. A voir qui le vend , merci pour la video je serais intéressé par une vidéo pour les modes FT8,etc
