    I've been really thinking of getting into photography again. I have been curious about this camera, how much post work are you doing or do the film simulations really look that good? I am hoping they do for the most part look that good as I want my wife to be able to be able to enjoy this hobby as well but she doesn't want to learn light room or photoshop. Obviously we know that post work can greatly enhance a picture but we want more memories that look good than art work.

    • @BrayGrayy
      @BrayGrayy Před 4 dny

      Yeah, I hear you for sure. I don't really do much editing in post with the X-T50. I do enough of that with my Sony cameras. The simulations and recipes are DEFINITELY enough to produce good quality images with character straight out of camera. As long as you're nailing exposure, focus, and composition you should be good.

    Hi, great video. Like also how you explain these film recipes, which I like. I am a Nikon Z shooter, Z8 and Zf but looking at a small compact camera like the Fuji X100vi, XT-50 or older model for EDC. What would you recommend? I read XT-3 / 30ii are great value for money, but fear that coming from Nikon Z top cameras I may be disappointed with these older models so better go for the latest Fuji's. Nice work, keep it on.

    • @BrayGrayy
      @BrayGrayy Před 5 dny

      Thanks! I've honestly only used the X-T50 and X-T5, but I know they both have the same imaging capabilities as the X100vi. If compactness is your main want, the X-T50 is your best bet. I've heard some say they like the sensor better on the X-T3/30ii, but I haven't had any complaints about the newer 40mp one. As someone who also uses a Sony A74 and A7C2, the X-T50 definitely feels less "pro" but it's a fun little EDC camera.

    I don't use the camera to add recipes, I upload them from Fujifilm X RAW Studio. It means you can test and experiment with the recipe using your existing RAF files before going out and shooting with it. It also means you can have *many* more than 7, uploading your favourite 7 to the camera. I shoot raw+jpeg so I always have a copy of the RAF file to go back to and try out different recipes with it in Fujifilm X RAW Studio. Note: Capture One only simulates the cameras Fujifilm Film Simulations, it was good enough, however the only way to get an *exact* match to the output you get from your camera is to either use the in-camera raw processing or use Fujifilm X RAW Studio as it uses the camera itself to output the jpeg, not external raw processing software like Capture One and Lightroom etc. Fujifilm X RAW Studio needs a complete rewrite though, it is slow, clunky to use and not very intuitive for new users. If Fujifilm released Fujifilm X RAW Studio for smartphones, that would be great.

    What do you think about using the film simulation dial with custom recipes on the FUJI X-T50? Are there any recipes I should try?

    • @JackCl34232
      @JackCl34232 Před 13 dny

      IMO, the film simulation dial works best with the Auto Mode. Let me explain why: The biggest problem with using recipes is that they don't work for every scenario, especially those with strong characteristic, so I have to spend a lot of time changing the settings. As a comparison, the Auto Mode can automatically adjust settings very well, but the photos taken are always boring. The film simulation dial changes that, it really brings a lot of fun to the Auto Mode. Even with a specific scene chosen, I can still get different styles of photos by changing the film simulation. I used to own an X-T20 but never liked its Auto Mode. But this X-T50 is different. I think it changed the way I shoot a little bit in a good way. If you’re a casual photographer like me, try to rent an X-T50 and play it around. I think it makes photography more relaxing and enjoyable.

    Great review! I'm in a similar situation myself. I currently own a Sony A7IV and am on the lookout for an everyday carry (EDC) camera that’s both fun to shoot with and more portable. The full-frame setup is just too big and heavy to carry around in my backpack every day. I also have a ZV-1, but it falls short in terms of shooting ergonomics and image quality. The XT50 looks like it might meet my expectations for photography features and appears to be quite capable in the video department as well. I'm considering pairing it with a prime lens in the 24-35mm range, although I haven't made a final decision on the lens yet. My primary focus is on travel, street, and family photography and video.

    • @BrayGrayy
      @BrayGrayy Před 19 dny

      Nice! I used to have the ZV-1 as well and totally agree with your take on the ergonomics and photo quality. I haven't really used the video on the X-T50 yet, but it definitely seems like it has some nice video features from just poking around in the settings. Also that sounds like a pretty good range of lenses for your use cases. I have the 16mm Fuji (24mm full frame equivalent) and I definitely recommend it if you're looking to go on the wider end of your preferred range.
