Yeah, I've seen Christians try to pull this stuff in debates in recent years. Maybe it was prevalent beforehand but I wasn't paying attention. They lure libertarians, atheists, secular types, etc. in by asking to debate "libertarianism vs. Christian nationalism" or something like that and then immediately drag things into metaphysics and epistemology. It's a deceptive tactic that naturally catches people untrained in philosophy flat-footed and drags the debate away from what it was originally supposed to be about. You get two hours of is/ought back and forth or "what you consider good comes from Christianity so be a Christian!!" This happened to Dave Smith earlier this week with some Christian debate guy and LiquidZulu last year(?) when he "debated" Jay Dyer
