Go to the dataâŠ.not the dramaâŠ..ouch
Hi! In some ways, Arden's personality is like my husband's. He tells people the truth so that he can help people become stronger, better versions of themselves. He tells people what they NEED to hear, as opposed to what they WANT to hear. Arden is this same way! When she is saying "Go to the data, not the drama" she is saying to not assign negative meaning to things. Think of trying situations as opportunities for growth. Don't let circumstances hold you back! Arden's heart is definitely in the right place! She wants to help people to grow. Things happen in life. Each person can decide for themselves how they will react. We can choose to empower ourselves! I honestly value people who will tell me about those areas in my life where I can make improvement! Take care. Susan
@@pointofnoreturn3103 Thank you for your words Susan. I wasnât upset by Ardenâs wordsâŠ..indeed I welcome them. But thank you
@@MarkBennett007 You are welcome! Take care. Susan
This is very helpful, thank you!!
Hi, Arden! It is a huge coincidence that you are talking about this stuff today! Several days ago, I dreamed that I was back at my first music school. I dreamed that people misinterpreted my motivation. My husband stood up for me, and said I am who I am. A few minutes later, Mister Man (our son) was inside the music building! We were all going to eat pizza together! ...I interpreted my dream as meaning that way back then, I didn't really know who I was. I thought that grand opera was what I wanted out of life. I hadn't realized as of yet what my TRUE purpose in life is. To make a difference in the world. ...I think that the reason why both my husband and our son were in my dream is because me and my husband try to help each other to become the best version of ourselves. We also try to help those Precious Little Ones become the best version of themselves. My GREATEST wish is for people who I love to learn from my mistakes! Have I gone through trying times? Yes. Maybe I had to go through those things to reach other people who are going through similar things... Thanks for making this video! Have a wonderful day tomorrow with your daughter! Take care. Love, Susan
Hello Ms. Kaywin, Thank you gorgeous for your time to share this very impressive and clear demonstration of a glimpse showing your rich understanding of practical scientific principles and immediately effective results which are glaring when shown in comparison. After hearing so many false principles and wasting my time and dollars, time has revealed the elite expert in this field -bar none. I will share this video. I will direct all serious performers to her mentorship for mastery!
The same as â Inhalareâ, is it not?
Hi! Today I am practicing "implode." I tend to change my support with each change in pitch. I thought about an infinite amount of air beneath my feet to inhale my voice from. Inalare la voce is exactly right! The longer the phrase lasted, the further down from beneath my feet I inhaled my voice from. Arden said in another video to sing on the gesture of the inhale. I focused on the feeling of continuing to inhale my voice. When you release your body to let the air come in for the phrase, its NOT like you inhale in 16th notes! Lol! You inhale with one continuous motion. I hope that this helps! Susan
You are a revelation Arden. A speaker of the truth.
In vocal pedagogyâŠ.your one of the very few that really knows what their talking about. In admiration
Implode.
Ingo Titze would disagree
Fabulous teaching
implode!
Wow- I never connected the two phrases Imposter syndrome =self doubt I have come a long way over the years in working through this. Technique from past vocal lessons greatly helped yet it was mainly my mindset that needed trained. I have finally worked through stage fright and am working toward being comfortable singing in coffee shops. Firm technique and being able to rely on the voice did wonders for my confidence. Past lessons came to fruition in your present workshops. I look forward to more workshops!
Sounds like Bel Canto! đ
Hi! Yes, it does! I was listening to Rosa Ponselle singing Desdemona's prayer and Pace, pace Mio Dio today for musical inspiration! My gosh, she was a master at "implode," and her messa di voce was absolutely perfect!
Hi! I've been listening to Maria Callas singing Desdemona's prayer! Something about her musicality is unique to her! I thought that you might be interested in listening. Enjoy! Susan czcams.com/video/mxbhPDlhiT0/video.htmlsi=kFcjBNrrvRKgXlmK
Implode!! Iâll be present to this when singing. thank you. Xx
I dont even know what your talking about, imploding. It doesn't say HOW
It says basically donât try to blast your notes out which also comes with using too much air for support. Imploding means the exact opposite, try to target your voice inside and if possible imagine it goes behind your head
Itâs not a technical thing, but itâs a mindset of planning thing for your singing
It is an idea of drawing your voice to you. When done correctly, all you have to do is let the voice sing through you unimpeded by tension. I hope that this helps! Susan
Implode
THIS! Implode!! Exactly what suddenly made sense the way you explained it during your workshop! It's completely a game changer! Thank you so much, Arden! Love, Susan Edit- Arden? I was experimenting with the "sensation" of implode just now. For me, it was like my voice traveled upwards through my legs and torso, and up, and over the back of my head. IS this feeling what I should be aiming for? I thought to myself "inhale, continually inhale my voice upwards though my body in an open channel..."
Implode!!
Implode! Iâll try it tonight when I sing my high Câs during Mary Poppins. đ
Hi Arden, I had the great privilege of participating in the workshop last week. Thank you so much for all the insights! I wanted to share something that came up for me in the meditation practice and I wonder if others deal with this issue as well: I learned that I am really afraid of hurting my voice. Or, rather, my voice is afraid that I'm going to hurt it. I think this comes from years and years of misuse. I'm sticking with it, but some days it's just lip trills until my voice starts to trust me again. All the best to you. Enjoy your week off!
Hi! I wanted to say, yes, at times I have been afraid of damaging my singing voice. I really, really love dark, rich voices, so I attempted to "sound" like a mezzo or contalto by carrying up chest voice even approaching C6! It is a wonder that I didn't get nodes on my vocal cords! But, over time, I have developed "OK with it." I may long to sound like Maria Callas in chest voice! But, I am OK with sounding like Susan! Lol!
25 years of impostor syndrome despite spending thousands of dollars in singing classes. Every time I would start working with a new band, I would just quit after a few rehearsals or gigs because I would feel so out of place and not good enough. I just gave up trying to make a career out of it, too old now, but still take classes and work alone hoping that maybe one day I feel confident with my voice. Donât be me, work with people like Arden who will give you confidence, trust yourself and go for it! You have nothing to loose putting yourself out there. Thanks Arden for your videos, I picked a lot of precious tips.
Thank you for your heartfelt reply! It takes so much courage to admit your vulnerability, in the hopes that someone will benefit from what your life has taught you! May God bless you for it! ...Don't give up on your dream. You NEVER can know the good you can do in the world! You always have the option of choosing your reaction to the storms of life. Own your vulnerability (it can help you to grow stronger as a person), and use it to reach other people who are vulnerable as well! It will be okay. Take care. Susan
@@pointofnoreturn3103 Thank you very much Susan, I really hope this message helps all these very talented, yet afraid, artists overcome their fears and doubts before they realize it's too late.
ââ@@2lostangelesI could tell that was your motivation! It honestly takes INFINITELY more courage to choose the path of love, and wanting what is best for someone else! If I could have volunteered to be a guinea pig for Arden's workshop, I wanted to sing Desdemona's prayer from Verdi's Otello. Now, she knew that her husband was about to kill her in their bedroom. If she had no control over external circumstances, she COULD control her reaction! She chose love and forgiveness. Even for the person who had convinced Otello that she was cheating on him... My favorite rendition of "Ave Maria, piena di Grazia" is Caballe's 1972 concert version. I don't know if you like opera. But, she WAS the queen of the high pianissimo! It was so nice to meet you! Take care. Thanks again! Susan
Thank you so much, Arden! I wanted to let you know! Things are coming together! I've been thinking about the sensation of "implode. " And, I actually sirened up to G6 the other day! I couldn't believe it! I guess, at 50 years old, I'm still a soprano! ...You mentioned listening to other auditionees. I think that the first step is to only be in competition with yourself, how you were yesterday. Beyond that, I think that the real trick is to trust your technique where it currently is, right then, and trust that you are capable of learning new things. Thanks again, my dear friend! Love, Susan
The workshop moved me deeply. Arden thank you so much.

Hi, Arden! I haven't had much time to make CZcams comments. But, I wanted to tell you that I want to sing this song to my husband for Father's Day this weekend! czcams.com/video/aJxrX42WcjQ/video.htmlsi=J66XQxy2Z7zaUG6O It is You Raise Me Up by Josh Groban. I can tell when I practice it on lip trills exactly where I "flip" into head voice. The way to pull it off IS to lean progressively further down and out into my support, and have my vowel get progressively taller and more resonant the longer I hold the note... Thanks for making this video! Take care, my dear friend! Love, Susan

Which vocal exercise program do you recommend for the operatic tenor voice?
Hi Sam, good question. I wish I had a simple answer for you but I don't, because in my experience, it's not about which exercises you do, but HOW you do them. And that 'how' is the same regardless of what voice type you are - tenor, coloratura soprano, contralto.....doesn't matter. healthy, resonant singing is healthy resonant singing regardless of your voice type or fach. May I ask, are you coming to our 5 day FREE online workshop this coming week? Cause I'm gonna coach on a TON of technique tools (exercises included) that set the foundation of what to practice for power and consistency throughout your range. You should come!! It's live, interactive coaching, there will be Q&A too where you can ask your questions. Anyway, I wanted to invite you cause it's WAY better then just watching a technique tip video :) Here's the link to register: ardenkaywinvocalstudio.lpages.co/june-2024-workshop/ Do you think you can make it?? .
Arden, I have registered for the workshop and am really excited about it! I have been playing around with the lip trill for a while. I feel like I get a good lip trill going, and I *think* I'm connecting with my breath support...however, I seem to run out of air so quickly! Even a five note scale up and down can be challenging for me w/o a catch breath...even if I 'tank up' to start. Where is all the air going? I really need to figure out how to use what I have more efficiently. Thanks for all your excellent videos!
Hey Peter, so glad you can make it to the workshop!! To answer your question, if youâre not running out of air on a 5 note lip trill, but youâre still running out of air on a 5 note scale, thatâs a clue that youâre not using your support the same way in the scale as you are in the lip trill. My guess is that every time you change notes in the scale youâre coming off and then back onto your support with each change of note. When you do this, you âleakâ air between each pitch and you donât realize it, and these leaks make you out of breath before the end.
