Shift What Hinders You Into What Empowers You with Raia 'Coach' Carey
At the first “hello!”-right out of the gate, the first time you meet someone-how confident are you? How in tune are you with your truest self and how often do you let that self be seen? Today, Raia Carey, Certified Life Coach and motivational speaker, lays new ground to finding self-confidence with simple ways to seeing a bolder, more authentic you and fresh questions to ask yourself during any moment you feel your confidence slipping away.
Raia, also known as Coach Carey, is passionate about encouraging others to tap into the confidence they never knew they had. After overcoming various hardships, she was able to transform her mindset and begin a career that empowers others to do the same. Through Raia’s motivational lecture The Confidence Talk, she’s able to provide corporate wellness workshops to a wide variety of organizations such as LinkedIn, Soho House, Royal Bank of Canada, TribalScale, and many more.
In her workshops Raia equips the audience with tangible tools to immediately implement in their daily life and steers them towards gaining self-awareness, resilience, and sustainable success. By openly sharing her triumphs and tribulations, Raia uses her vulnerability to foster a welcoming and safe environment in every room she enters. She strives to inspire and lead those around her by providing unwavering support, guidance, and motivation.
Your moment to confidently grow, learn, and rise starts NOW-listen in!
Key takeaways:
The childhood lesson. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Raia shares her personal experience of being bullied on her first day of fourth grade and talking herself up from humiliation-and the thing she did next only further proves her inner strength. In difficult times the ONE thing needed to move you forward is . . . [17:38].
The confidence talk. Where does your confidence stem from? It’s all too easy to get wrapped up with praises that come from external things like your looks, style, and possessions. But when you dig deep beyond the superficial, what do you see? The KEY to solving your true confidence mystery is . . . [26:47].
The safe place. When it comes to meeting someone for the first time, how often do you share the real, most vulnerable self? Let’s be honest-no one does! But there are ways to get to a comfort level with a stranger in a matter of a few questions. Get the ball rolling with these THREE questions . . . [40:25].
The happy toolbox. This time in our world is monumental. Listen to the news or scroll through your social feed and you’re bound to find something that haunts you for days. So what can we do to lift ourselves up and rise? Raia’s BEST advice to finding a way to bloom in the gloom . . . [52:16].
Tune in and turn the volume up for a dose of inspiration and life lessons. You're never more than One Idea Away from a whole, new reality.

    She is such a toxin in Alex life, that was so clear in free solo. Yes they are married now. She will be his downfall. Just watch the documentary and see how much she makes it about her, while she is just a generic dime a dozen. He is special.

      seriously.. she is awful.. So many cringe moments in free solo. "why do you want to do this climb?" She stalked a climber because he was famous.

    • @bacquetqge
      @bacquetqge Před 2 lety

      I actually think balance is important; Alex Honnold is an amazing athlete and I could not do what he does. But he is not saving the world: he climbs and that is pretty much all he does. I am not criticising him, it's just a fact that all his decisions are driven by his climbing which is a very solitary sport. And that is not balanced. People annoyed at Sanni see her as a distraction, but she is social, talkative and gregarious. Everything he is not. However, if you know anything about them now (Alex and Sanni, I mean) you'll see that he is having more fun, and she has learned to climb to support him. She brings something to his life he did not have, and he adds something to hers that she didn't have have. That's balance :)

    That's why environment is key. I wish Porges could feel those who energetically rape others bodies and minds - then he would know what kind of reptilian predators we are really dealing with and why there's no safety. Yes frequency is key and when you have mass consciousness in the shadow frequency then those who can feel it, it ain't a safe world. He needs to talk about Stockholm syndrome.

    @mattlehnardt8035 Před 3 lety

     yup, polybagal theory clears up a WHOLE lot of crappy beliefs we've developed, and its an organizing principle like Einstein's General Relativity, only Polyvagal theory is a unifying theory about social human behavior.

  • @mattlehnardt8035
    @mattlehnardt8035 Před 3 lety

    35 minutes - "Polyvagal Theory gives you the narrative to create an (approach) to self care". instead of just being selfish and favoring self over social, Dr. Porges has a brilliant explanation of WHY and HOW we care for ourselves with the understanding of why and how we operate; it puts us in touch with our whole self, instead of just fragmenting off a slice and calling it 'self-care' and getting inward and dangerously close to distancing from people, its an INCLUSIVE theory that ties us TOGETHER with other people, cause we all share these Polyvagal responses, and so it empowers us to take care of our own self WITHOUT being selfish (placing ourselves above others or distancing / being other than) it includes is as part of everyone else WITH the permission and understanding of why we take care of ourselves. I was suicidal because taking care of myself, INDEED, HAVING A SELF was selfish, and distanced me from my core people, having come from emotional trauma/abuse that ruined a healthy sense of self = so the endless question/feeling was "If im me, I damage other people and risk ruining the relationships I need in my life ....wait for it....to even BE me. cause what good is being you if you're alone? so you give up a big part of what makes you YOU to kind of have something with other people, even if its crappy. see Crappy Childhood Fairy on CZcams. but I felt I couldn't be me unless it meant rejecting other people and being alone, or pissing on other people to be me, and that felt horrible and also like Id wind up alone. This Polyvagal theory of how we work explains we're ALL together, and we all connect, and as such we can all take care of ourselves, and HAVE A SELF. dude, this just cured my suicidality. and how we poop ourselves as part of our lizard brain - I remember trying to poop myself really hard when I was a baby cause someone was doing something sexual to me - I can't remember exactly what and that's been hard for me to wrap my mind around, is I don't have any memory of what happened, only the feeling remains, but luckily I remember trying to poop myself to make them go away. its all I had, lying on a bathroom sink countertop. and guess what? the relationship I have now that makes me suicidal because of messed up vagal responses - cause she was abused by HER dad and got messed up, and now projects that shit onto me, that anger, is messing ME up cause she can't/won't look at her feelings, Hell, they're so far down there buried under abuse she can't acknowledge, just easier to keep daddy safe and that relationship safe in her mind and take it out on me as scapegoat. I can't break away because of the ties we have as people, and the ties I have to my mom to keep her safe even though there was mental abuse, but I can't put my finger on /in it to deal with it, just a jumble of strong awful feelings I can't come to the end of - and my wife (the relationship) is recreating that abuse via her own abuse, and once again, I can't put my finger on how to come to terms with it or deal with it, just suffer. and taking care of myself feels like killing someone, dropping those ties I desperately needed as a baby and didn't get, and hoped for in marriage but once again don't get, but get abuse instead. This just saved my life because now I can have a self and take care of me without damaging someone else, which is what I thought 'taking care of self' meant. The interview completely missed the point, he should have taken facial cues from Dr. Porges on how 'upper-faced' he is, all lit up about the sum of his theory at 35:00, but just glosses over the point, which is the whole point of the interview. anyway, it was huge for me, and hopefully by reading this huge for you. We CAN take care of ourselves without severing ties to other people and being selfish, and discarding others by taking care of self. it all goes together, whew!

    It's uncanny, but I missed or didn't understand this segment until I started studying Polyvagal Theory in my own coaching continuing education. I have watched many presentations explaining the theory, but this is the one that hit home the best, producing a good understanding of what it is and how it relates to coaching. I'm pretty amazed that in my search for a broader understanding of PT, I happened upon this presentation that turned out to be a product of my "alma mater of coaching," iPEC! Good work, Luke!
