    Is there any advantage to using a Forstner bit in the drill press for the first slot holes? I've watched a number of these clamp storage videos and most (all the ones I've watched) use the Forstner...seems like a small thing so I'm wondering....Good straight forward instructions...thanks!

      Six of one, half dozen of the other. Not really sure why I picked a twist bit or didn't pick a forstner bit. Both do the job equally well in this instance.

    It’s absolutely gorgeous! Love that you went with an oil finish as it’ll be so much easier to keep protected and new long term! I need to get some of that. I don’t know if I’d build mine with cedar or maybe oak is just fine in the elements. Either way it’s gorgeous and will be a joy for the owner to use! I’ll stick with my Titebond III thank you for demonstrating that glue. Other woodworkers I’ve watched use it complain about the same thing so I prefer my normal water proof or resistant wood glue

    • @TheAverageCraftsman
      @TheAverageCraftsman Před 4 měsíci

      For the price, they are alright. The sanders and air cleaner work well and as expected. The bandsaw is decent once you but a good blade on it. As for the drill press, the chuck isnt great, or at least mine isnt, but I havent spent a lot of time trying to get it tuned. It works well enough but could be a lot better probably with some care. If they are all you can afford, I would recommend them but you'd definitely be happier with a higher quality item.

      @@TheAverageCraftsman I currently have a Bauer 10" from Harbor Freight. The only issue is it has the screw type depth stop that I've always hated on a drill press. My 20 year old Delta 10" had the collar type like yours does and I loved it. Had to sell it 2 years ago sadly, along with the rest of my woodworking machines, but that's a story in it self. The Bauer does what I need just wish the stop was better, and it's hard to change speeds on it. Will have to do more research I guess. Thanks!

    • @TheAverageCraftsman
      @TheAverageCraftsman Před 4 měsíci

      One thing I love about the Wen drill press is that it is variable speed so no belt nonsense.

      @@TheAverageCraftsman Got mine delivered today, set up was good. I will add a light to it for sure. I have no issues with the chuck, and those can be replaced. It's a tad stiff and not as free moving as I'd like but I'm good with it. Boy is it TALL! Will have to adjust my mobile cart by taking off the casters, and lowering it 4 inches. Drills good and straight and yes the variable speed is great. Might have to adjust the tension so I can change speeds a bit easier if it's possible.

    Purchased: August 2023 - still works GREAT!I czcams.com/users/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

    IMO, your videos would be much easier to watch if you didn't tell us what you plan to do, then show us the process while VERY annoying music plays. You should just video what you are doing, then voice-over while doing it. I tun off the audio while the music plays, it's intolerable.

    Really liked the overall quality of the unit czcams.com/users/postUgkxajoEbapTfqWaadnqb04h6U576yxXp-FE . No, it's not a professional level drill press. I bought this product for one reason and one reason only: it adds value to a product I already have (a dremel tool).I was able to use this tool to secure my dremel. Dremel owners and users probably can sympathize that often holding your oddly shaped (and sometimes fragile) workpiece and the dremel at the same time can be cumbersome. This completely eliminates the need to hold the dremel, which is a huge overall improvement to control.I would consider this a must have for anyone who regularly uses a dremel.
