That mess is because you aren’t doing it correctly. Draining the filter is not that big of a deal. Quit complaining if you’re not going to use it as designed. Good luck with that new oil filter, by the size of it you’ll likely need to replace it two or three times as often. What a pain.

ya i actually bought the ix thinking it was the laser iridium ended up sending those back bought the bosch double iridium cuz it cost less than the laser iridium but upon further inspection found out the heat range was different and like you found out the NGK laser iridium plugs are what the OEM ones are and that they last 2x as long as the iridium ix so i lost about $15 bucks in shipping cost sending these back but know i know for sure its that gray box not the blur one and its the laser iridium not the ix

Blevins dry completely, take smooth side of microfiber wet with good off industrial or your choice of solvent lightly, put socket on adapter in a drill, place rag tightly around socket as you spin on high.but I will try chrome polish too

How much longer is it hanging down with the adapter plus the spin on filter as apposed to stock? I like the concept, but it appears to be even or just a little longer than the skid plate? My concern is that road debris (or off-road debris) could puncture the spin on filter....

haha, you saved me, thanks buddy! quick and too the point. i oiled the dam thing, and added extra form, but i bet it was the wires. it was driving me crazy. no ice around it. had it out and back in 5 times now

Ok..It definately a quality adapter..But did everyone see the exposed spin on oil filter underneath..If you dont have a shield under there..Was it worth the 250.00+ repairs on filter contact with road conditions? Stick with the canister.....

The Ruthenium plug is smack in the middle for overall performance+longevity and smack in the middle for price. I see no problem here.

Takes me less then 5min and IV never made a mess or had my hand covered in oil and yes they do have a back flow it's in the spring it's built differently and it's really easy to change no hassle at all I wouldn't mess with their engineering process usually Toyota and Lexus have it on lock and have very good quality I'm happy with the original cartridge style filter on my Toyota

I would just like to say as someone that changes oil for a living, these really aren’t that bad to deal with. Everything is easier with the right tools. I see videos of people loosening them with a flathead and hammers 😢. 25 nm is all they need to be tightened to. As for this video, I mean it’s a novel concept. Also a novel concept is a bunch of DIYers acting like they know more about these engines than the company that manufactures them. And they are damn reliable engines at that. Get the right tools, do the job right. Toyota knows what they are doing

The ruthenium for my car are $12 less than the double iridium, and as you pointed out they have the same service life so I'll call that a win.

The stock cartridge on my scion TC wasn't much a big deal, however I will mention that it did however, become a PITA when installing a turbo setup. This helps for that.

Toyota's filter housing is one of the worst to remove. It usually takes an extreme amount of force to back these off due to the large o-ring. Glad this Baxter product exists, and great video!

Thanks man! It took awhile but it worked. You saved me a bunch of money! To get the rivets and pin out I used a dremel tool.

At $200 or more plus dollars for Baxter part, I will keep changing out the cartridge filter. It was a dumbass move on Toyotas part with that crap though.

At 75yo I wanted to get my oil changed by the dealer or even Walmart. But how do I know they put a new filter in the car when they changed my oil? With a spin-on filter it's very easy to check this. So I'm going to put one of these cartridge conversions on my Carolla.

I haven't found any socket rail I like. Harbor freight has a osen copy but it bulky

CAREFUL, my oil filter adapter and cooler setup failed after about 80,000 miles, engine almost blew!

We all are so intense about debates like this yet we dont do a thing to show the US gov that we do not want illegals piling into our country and want most to leave. Try protesting instead of staring at youtube plug videos!!

Pretty good idea, maybe the zip tie to create slots for each socket, would eat space but solve that rolling problem when missing a socket in between. Thanks for sharing

That's it, it's fixed. I had the same problem, just moving the wire connection that worked itself between the coil and the cover plate. You're awsome.

The 2grfe engine suffers a slow killer, the vvti rattle on cold start due to oil starvation . This apparently solves it, worth a try. $250 better than at least 2k to deal with a motor replacement
