I genuenly believe that jesse was NEVER a good person or even a good match for rory, I mean he's a literal homewrecker, rory and dean were happy, and what did he do? Did he respect that? No! He did every possible thing to sabotage that relationship. Granted Rory didn't help but If the roles were reversed and and it was a girl trying to still another girl's man we wouldn't be so ✨understanding✨. And ..and remember when he got mad at rory for not having sex with him? REMEMBER THAT!!

So this year I watched Gilmore Girls for the first time and I really don’t understand why everybody hates Dean and adores Jess so much. Dean before marriage is a dream boyfriend and Rory just cheated on him. Just as Rory described him in A Year in Life he was protective and kind and he was a perfect first boyfriend. Yes, he broke up with her becase she didn’t say I love you back. But both of them were children, it was their first (or second for Dean) relationship, they both made mistakes, they were learning. Then their fight about Harvard. Again: they’re children and they’re learning. It was not about “I’m mad about you for going to Harvard” from Dean’s side, it was about the fact that she promised him to spend time together and she didn’t do it. And by the way, he apologised then. He always was there for her, he protected and cherished her. Even when they broke up, he was always there when she needed him. He wasn’t a dumb guy in the first seasons, he read books, they had common taste in films, he worked, he helped his family, he had sport hobbies, he was CABAPLE TO BUILD A CAR BEING A TEENAGER, so there were things he was so much educated it. Then they just screwed him up to make Jess wonderful.

Maybe unpopular opinion but i never really understood why burger never made a comeback in the movies or now on the reboot. He really gives off the vibe of theguy that ghosts you and just reappears in your life out of nowhere years later, just like nothing happened. I guess the character was so unpopular that they didnt wanna risk it so we instead got a miriad of aidan comebacks.

The main problem with her is her lack of introspection and self-awareness. She is desperately needy. Every time she broke up, she had to go on dates again without time to reflect and heal. My problem is that she is narrow-minded and blames everybody else for her problems. For instance, when Big decides to leave her at the altar, and later Miranda confesses what she said to Big the night before the ceremony, she accuses her of ruining the big day. She is barely accountable for her actions, so self-centered, and the worst part is she did not grow nor gain much maturity in her middle age.

The thing that always bugged me about Max and Lorelai is that they were probably only dating for what? 6 months before Max proposed? If I remember correctly (and feel free to correct me, it's been awhile since I did a rewatch) Max and Lorelai start dating after Rory's birthday, which is in October. That goes on for a while and then they break up for a few weeks(?) maybe a month or 2 and then when they get back together it's after it's stopped snowing, and Max proposed almost immediately. In the S1 finale you can even see the trees in the town square haven't started growing leaves yet, so by the time Max proposes it's like early spring. All that to say, I knew even on my first watch that they weren't gonna last. Their relationship got really serious, waaaay to quickly. That and I was aware enough of tropes and story lines in TV to know that they wouldn't have a main character meet, get into a relationship, and get engaged all in the span of the *first* season and actually make it stick, lol.

I dont think they would date i think they had similar interests but i dont think they had enough to make a relationship. That being said if Jess had stayed in the show I would have loved them being friends, I could see them taking on a sibling dynamic because they both have complicated relationships with their parents.

Adult mentors in a teen’s life that aren’t their parents are incredibly important. I think Lorelai and Luke play those roles really well for the young people in the show. Regardless of the trajectory of their lives, Lane and Jess still turned out ok and better because of Lorelai and Luke respectively.

I don't think Jess and Lane should've dated, at least not while he lived in Stars Hollow, because at that point I don't think Jess was ready to be in a serious relationship with anyone. Maybe after he left and grew up a bit they would've worked?
