BELGRADE, SERBIA 🇷🇸 | FAMILY TRIP TO BEOGRAD 2024
In this Video my family takes a short trip to BELGRADE, SERBIA. We found out really quickly that this City is Massive and that to get to know all of its beauty, you truly need a lifetime. BELGRADE is very rich in HISTORY and extremely old. BELGRADE is also very kid friendly, our toddler loved it here, we all had a great time. The only downfall was the heat. The heat really hindered us from exploring the city, and even cut our tour of Kalemegdan short. The fortress is literally thousands of years old (so cool).
Belgrade, has an immense history, the capital city of SERBIA, boasts a rich and tumultuous history that spans several millennia. Its strategic location at the confluence of the SAVA and DANUBE rivers has made it a coveted prize throughout history. The city's roots trace back to antiquity, with the ancient settlement of Singidunum established by the ROMANS around 35 BC. This early urban center flourished under Roman rule, becoming a significant fortification and trade hub in the province of Moesia.
During the MEDIEVAL period, Belgrade's strategic importance grew as it became a key battleground between the Byzantine Empire and various invading forces. The city changed hands multiple times, witnessing the rise and fall of numerous empires and kingdoms. In the 12th century, the SERBIAN KINGDOM under the rule of Stefan Nemanja fortified Belgrade, integrating it into the growing Serbian medieval state.
In the 15th century, the Ottoman Empire, expanding its reach into Southeastern Europe, captured Belgrade in 1521. The Ottomans transformed the city into a major administrative and military center, with Belgrade serving as a critical outpost in their European campaigns. The city's role as a frontier town led to numerous sieges and battles, most notably the Siege of Belgrade in 1688 and again in 1690, when the Habsburg Monarchy sought to wrest control from the Ottomans.
The 19th century marked a period of transformation for Belgrade as it became the focal point of SERBIAN NATIONALISM and the struggle for independence from the Ottoman Empire. The city played a central role in the Serbian Revolution, which culminated in the establishment of the modern SERBIAN PRINCIPALITY. By the late 1800s, Belgrade had evolved into the capital of the newly recognized Kingdom of Serbia, and it underwent significant modernization and expansion.
The early 20th century saw Belgrade at the heart of the tumultuous events of the Balkan Wars and World War I. Following the war, it became the capital of the newly formed Kingdom of Yugoslavia. During World War II, the city was occupied by Nazi forces and suffered extensive damage. Post-war, Belgrade emerged as the capital of socialist Yugoslavia under the leadership of Josip Broz Tito, undergoing a period of reconstruction and growth.
With the disintegration of Yugoslavia in the 1990s, Belgrade experienced significant political and economic upheaval. The NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999 left scars on the city, but it gradually rebuilt and adapted to the new realities of the 21st century. Today, Belgrade stands as a vibrant and resilient city, reflecting a rich tapestry of its past while embracing the future as a capital of a democratic and independent Serbia. #Serbia #Belgrade #Europe #europetravelvlog

I recently got a call for high risk trisomy 13.. it has been the most stressful few days.. thankfully we get into MFM tomorrow.. but hoping for some reassuring news as I know this will more than likely be a few weeks long of a process to know for sure :( I wish I never did the NIPT, but also if it’s true.. I guess I rather know in advance rather than being blind sided at the anatomy scan..
very safe city for all people
Unfortunately we get this heat every single year
Really, my entire family has said it’s just in recent years. Either way, it’s terrible
@@The_regular_home by recent years I’m guessing they mean the 21st century. I know that before 2000 summers were cooler but that’s true for most of the world
@@hi1is I hear may is nice. We will come earlier in the year next trip
@@The_regular_home yep May and September I’d say are the best
Congrats on the effort...but let's be real....Americans and history don't go well together.....the explanation and interpretation then looks more like a humorous entertainment program....I had a good laugh during the part explaining the openings in the wall and the archers...you are very humorous............I suggest that you don't do food videos either... where is the point of traveling so many kilometers without trying anything new and eating what you usually eat at home... it's just that certain people have limited mental capacity for very limited content, which they can produce
@@bojanpalink5471 I suggest you make your own videos Bojan… but let’s be real…No one would watch 😂 Perhaps you’d find my other videos as entertaining as this one. Feel free to watch, maybe then you’d know that I have been to Serbia multiple times, my husbands family and friends live in the states near us. I’ve eaten enough Sarma, cevapi, goulash etc to know when the a girl just wants a burrito. As far as mental capacity goes… the content that I produce is whatever_the_fuck_I_want… Ahhh America, land of the Free 😉
@@The_regular_home As we've seen lately, not so free anymore...a more accurate description would be land of limited mental capacity...or simply stupid.
That seems like a generalization, which is very common to do amongst the common… when your mental capacity is limited, one tends to “group people, places, events etc.. together” it very primitive, so intrigued to see one in it’s natural environment! Thank you Bojan. May enlightenment find you one day. 💕

You are very nice and beautiful girl 😊😊😊Olways welcome in Serbia Thanks for video ❤

Interesting videos. Lithium is used in your cell phone. Also, the electric cars. Serbia is trying to cash in on this market. What is a country to do?

Older part of Zemun near Danube river is very nice, Ada Ciganlija the Belgrade lake, Avala hill also
This has been an excessively hot summer, likewise in almost all of southern Europe.

Drago mi je da uživate u mojoj zemlji... Da li ste putovali u Nišu Da ili Ne.
Mislim da ne. Samo Kragujevac odakle joj je muz i Beograd na jedan dan. Uskoro se vracaju nazad u SAD.

We will, thank you for the recommendation ❤
Lepši je tokom jeseni
Tito, you're out of your mind.
Curently, Serbia is under atack of LUCIFER. Heat vawe from Sahara desert in Africa. So, temperature goes up to 40 desgrees. Usually, during summer, temp is 30-35 during day and 25-28 during night. In latest time lower. But this summer is a HEAAAAL. About city. Yep, lot of old communist and aristocrats buildings, unpainted, uncolored, i do not know how to say that. But, for me, lot of unpainted buildings goves a city special charm, not all but parts like Dorćol, Vračar, oldest parts of the city. If u like austrian architecture, my recomendation is to visit Nov Sad. My recomendation is to use high speed train from Belgrade to Novi Sad and slow train from Lapovo(small town on the highway and rail Niš-Belgrade) and car from kragujevac to lapovo, 15km. It is a cheapest way. Also, u can use car, highway Niš-Belgrade-Subotica. Novi Sad is on that highway. TRAIN is must must cheaper then bus or car, this is a reason for my recomandation fo train.
Also. Belive me. If you compare Belgrade with London or Paris even Berlin. Belgrade si a cleaner city. Especially if u compare it with cities like Toronto, Vancouver, New York or LA or Philadelphia.
You have to visit Zemun, the best part of Belgrade, best restaurants, food, people,
Next year we will have more time to spend here and we will have to visit all the recommended areas❤
we are😉

Let me give you some recommendations for next time: National Museum, Tito's Mausoleum and the Museum of Yugoslavia, view of Belgrade from the Avala Tower, the Saint Sava Temple - including the lower level or Crypt - one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world, Saint Mark's Church, Skadarska Street with the old restaurants - some from the 1830s, the Kosancic Circle neighborhood with beautiful architecture and "?" - the oldest "kafana" / traditional restaurant in Belgrade from the 1820s, Kosutnjak and Topcider green areas, Galeria shopping mall - the biggest in Belgrade, Sava Promenade and the Belgrade Waterfront Area - the newest part of the city, the monument to Stefan Nemanja - one of the largest in Serbia, the Illusions Museum (fun for kids also), Ada lake with beaches, restaurants and a huge green area, Zemun - the Gardos Tower and the view from the top, explore Austro-Hungarian architecture in the Main Street, Gospodska Street and walk along the Danube Quay - restaurants by the river, the kids would love to feed the swans on the Danube Quay, Tito's Blue Train (museum). Other Museums include: Ethnographic Museum, Prince Milos Residence, Princess Ljubica Residence, Natural History Museum, Railway Museum, Post Office, Telephone and Telegraph Museum. There are many interesting cafes, pubs, restaurantsm art galleries... as you said, there is a lot. You can take a fast train "Soko" from Belgrade to Novi Sad, Serbia's second largest city (38 minutes) and have a weekend getaway, or even get back the same evening... I hope these tips will be useful to you.
Her husband is serbian tho
Good video. I am glad you liked Belgrade, for the most of it. Move from Kragujevac to Belgrade. It will be closer to what you are used to, but not the same. Still, with plenty of things to do and see, as well as international restaurants, etc.
We are going back to the US in a few days. Belgrade was wonderful, I would love to spend more time here next year.
1.7 million with all 17 municipalities.
What you meant when you said cable cars? Trams or Trolleybuses?

yey sis !! ..glad you enjoyed Belgrade ! 🥰
Hval! We just need more time for sure.
Im currently going through this. I got high-risk results for triploidy, trisomy 13, and trisomy 18.... thank you for sharing your story
I'm waiting for my quad test when I hit 17 weeks and am scheduled to see a specialist, it just makes me feel a little better that there are other people who are/have experienced this situation.
@@chelsearose6476 oh man, I am so sorry. This whole few weeks in my pregnancy was so stressful. I actually lost weight, lost hair, couldn’t sleep, no appetite, constantly crying. And I’m actually kinda pissed because I put baby through all of that too, and for what!?!?
@The_regular_home I finally saw my OBGYN and she rushed the appointment so I wasnt able to get any questions answered. I managed to get an ultrasound to see if they could see any markers, but I was hoping that I could re-test but that didn't happen. Also, what left a bad taste was the 1st and only NIPT I took this pregnancy was inconclusive because I only had 2.5% fetal fraction and she asked what my plans were.. like basically trying to mention termination while she is using the doppler to find the heartbeat. Like we aren't even sure if anything is wrong with this baby why would be talking termination if we haven't done any other tests... ughhh this has been the worst experience.
@The_regular_home basically if it weren't for you sharing your experience and a few others I'd now be considering termination after the doctor appointment i just had. So thank you so so much for sharing your story because now i know that there are some false positives and they can do other tests and retest to find out definitively. Because I am telling you without any exaggeration my doctor made it seem like my baby's fate is sealed by this one screening test.
From what I concluded is that you like the fact that the cities are walkable and the coffee culture. And then a thousand things you don't like. You should adapt. Most countries do not compare to the US. I mean, Serbia has just under 7 million people. So, how can Serbia and the US even compare? When in Rome, do as the Romans do. I believe that is the saying. When in Serbia, try to adapt to the local customs and way of life.
If you came to the US I’m sure there would be things you wouldn’t like. There’s plenty of things I do not like about the US. I like a lot of things here, but I do miss home. I am pretty sure I’ve adapted quite well. I’m in a smallish city eating čevapi, Pljeskavica, drinking Turkish coffee, burek, learning the language, loving the city, living in a tiny communist apartment “according to a subscriber” no elevator (with two small babies that can be tricky) but I’m doing it, because my babies will have a richer, fuller life for being here every year. Where my husband is from. Seeing their family.
Move to Belgrade. It is bigger, more chaotic, more urban, has more choices of everything, more happenings... and will be more close to the lifestyle you are used to, but still not the same. Europe is not the US. Belgrade is not Las Vegas. So, either try to adjust to where you are, or just go back to the States and be an American. Now it's summer so you can sit outside. Belgrade has big boulevards, modern shopping malls, cinema theaters, drive-throughs (but not too many), domestic and foreign cuisine, different types of coffee, etc, etc. Kragujevac is the fourth largest city in Serbia, so it's relatively small. The produce is non-GMO, not "plastic" like in the US.
We are Serbs, not Serbians :)... Serb is a noun, Serbian is an adjective.
Kragujevac is the fourth largest city in Serbia after Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Nis. It is also the biggest city in central Serbia.
Baba's house. Haha, I love it.
Mosquito bites? What mosquito bites? You are wonderful. I like how you say Kragujevac, just the way it should be. We are southern Europe :) whereas Russia, Belarus and Ukraine are eastern Europe. Kragujevac was home to the Yugo car. Also to massive Nazi shootings in WW 2 - there is a memorial site and a Museum "Sumarice". Maybe you can make two videos on these?
@@user-ii3eu6xd8h yes I have actually been to these mass graves. They make me cry every time, especially the memorial for the children. I was thinking of making a video, but maybe too depressing.? What do you think?

@@The_regular_home 😘😘😘😘🌎💕💕💕💕
The reason for quick spoilage is food being non-GMO. Also, there are no ethnic varieties of restaurants in provincial towns. Belgrade and Novi Sad is whole another story in international cuisine - there are ethnic restaurants everywhere! (retired) After 45 yrs in CA(LA mostly) I can't wait to go back to Serbia and eat some real food; Texas/Angus steaks and Sea-Food in the States being an exception! And YES - smoking in Serbia drives me nuts, too!
@@Brave2standalone Oh man, I miss seafood so much! But yes, Serbia has REALLY high quality food. I love that about their produce!
Hello Summer kisses and hugs to all of you guys 💕😘
When you see fat stomach ppl here in Serbia its usualy because they drink beer every day and eating fats, but many are physically active so they overcome it, but yeah we also have high cardiovascular disease problems ppl, but its mainly urban area life i guess...but right now we have the biggest enemy in our entire history and its name is Rio Tinto, Dundee, Zee Yin...about those healthy looking serbians we have to thank to "kašika" and that means stews, soups, chorbas, and physical activities and psychological health by active outdoor socializing with family, friends, neighbors...we have alots of food/drink/music/traditional and other family-friendly festivals, traditional fairs, a lots of vacation (like gorge river rafting, spring mountain hiking, snow-mountain skiing winter vacations, summer sea vacation, river/lake camping-boating and others) that what's keep us normal i guess in life, that's how we survived: wars, economy crisis, sanctions, bombing, transition, epidemics, just hope we survive this occupation and poison-lythium mining attempt...
As Serbian I have to say that people here divide on two groups. First are happy with life in Serbia, watch state media and apsorb propaganda. Second, depressive who thinks it's a poor, corrupt, third world country and plan to immigrate to the West.
I really wish Westerners who move to Eastern/Southern Europe tried living on the local average wages then give a review. It's all fun and games while you are just functionally a tourist.
And they are tourists, so... And why would they live on local wages? There are some foreigners who live here (digital nomads) and they make whatever they make, certainly more than locals do... So, chill, and let people enjoy themselves.
@@user-ii3eu6xd8h I guess if you don't care about giving an honest balanced opinion, you just want to rave about how amazing these places are without actually knowing anything about them. They are selling a reality that only exists for them.
You look like serbian women ❤ beautiful

Waiting for Belgrade video 👏
