This is a bad argument in my opinion. Just because in hindsight after watching the episode us as viewers can say “there was no need to put him in danger then” because we have seen beyond that decision. Hughie the character originally asked thinking he would use it on his dad, but how can he predict he will change his mind, his mum will inject him anyway and will go so wrong he has to put his dad down? As far as the main points of these scenes go we learn more about v used on those dead or dying, hughie forgives a train which helps a train realise he wants to be a real good guy and hughie gets to say a proper goodbye to his dad.
