Kinza Babe! I'm also from the Caribbean and experience "power and water" interruptions for hours and sometimes days; but for sure we do improvise to get through those days; hence you thought of a "roof" over your head and for sure those things will definitely come.

The idea of having the concrete roof was to help and make it easier to add another floor up for 2 self contained studios or same apartment as yours above for airbnb, whiles you take your time to build your other property on the land. Because its quicker and cheaper to go up one level more than starting a new building from foundation again. Having a solid concrete roof you just add the walls and plumbing and your final roof and you are done, with the stairs already serving the upper floor. The reason of aving it in mind earlier and making provisions will save you the cost of having to knock things down and more. For the permit it can be modified in advance or sometimes add the floor and pay the penalty which sometimes even is a better move than having to chase them. And your son's can also use these upper flat or apartment fir airbnb when they are in Ghana for thier own space and privacy, till they decide to start building also. So this idea is a win win situation but not a rush, because the airbnb will also fetch you some income, and you could even add a car rental business to the airbnb where the customers can rent a car. Like these uber style cars they have in Ghana. The ground floor room can also be later airbnb instead of using it for security because in Ghana most security come to work from home and a security shed or kiosk at tge side of tge gate is enough to keep tgem out of the rain. They can use the side toilet if needed just as the shop also, because you may rent out a shop to someone and they will need to use that toilet too, it will come very handy. Even some customers at your shop may have an emergency and need the toilet and you cannot have strangers in your home or personal areas.

I hope my explanation isn't complicated, because is best to have all the initial thinks centralised to maximize the land usage and have the most of your land free for future use.

49:15 the septic tank/biodigester could be built next to the bathroom of the room on the ground floor and veranda and lining it up with with the gate pillar attached to the wall gate on the same side and have all the connection to it. So the width will be aligned as that of the gate pillar and have it in a long narrow form between the gate pillar and the side length of the building. It could be a bit or slightly wider. And all the waste pipes can be connected to it, also it will be in the shape of a narrow but long rectangle. Please don't forget to add the ventilation pipe for the septic tank/biodigester whichever one you decide will still be the same size to last you longer. The ventilation pipe must be fitted like a chimney to go all the way at the top above the roof height of your building to take away bad gases from the tank. Also please remember to connect a rain cap on the top of the pipe used as the ventilation to prevent rain getting inside it. Also perforated or drilled holes must be made at the top end sides of the pipe for the gases to escape even with the fitted cap as a seal to prevent water getting into the pipe. So the sealing cap should not have any holes. I know you aren't there yet but these all have to be pre-planned and measures put in place. Then the stairs can go above the space above the septic tank with its elevation starting from the porch or veranda infront of the ground floor room. Meaning the stairs will link to that veranda or porch and start from there rising up. This way even though it goes up using the space above the septic tank, its not blocking any access to it. The septic tank/biodigester can always be accessed via its covering for any future maintenance and it wouldn't be distributed having the stairs rising up above it because there wouldn't be any contact. Having the septic tank/biodigester in this location is best because the pump track wouldn't have to come into the compound to empty it when needed, the can just park at the at and connect thier hose pipes down the tank to empty it.

I’m going to put a large front window with the gate that rolls down like in the states in my business & a escape window in the back! They do have those roll down gates in Ghana you should look into that because I know what you mean about having sunlight in your business plus airflow. 👍🏽

The person you bought the cheese from must have had it exposed to the sun or the storage temperature in the shop. The Guiness in Ghana and Nigeria is locally produced and its different from their Guiness, the African Guiness is much better.

I think the window level is ok if you haven't changed t at the moment because remember they are going to screed and tile the floor which would raise the internal floor level up a few more inches further to make up the window base height difference. Also your compound will be filled amd levelled after. But having it the eay you said isn't a bad idea either.

Kinza baby…if you plant those beautiful coconut trees outside of your property, opposed to inside you will be subjected to possible interference by the government when the roads are being constructed. Because where you have the plants it’s supposed to be paved.

You got it right to plant trees now especially when you are planting them in the location that is not going to be disturbed by the construction works. What the size of your land please ( how many plots)
