Learning to Believe in the Training

Belief is not just a factor, it's the cornerstone of running. It's the fuel that propels you forward, the force that pushes you beyond your limits. Without it, you're just going through the motions. But when you learn to believe in something bigger than yourself, that's when the real magic happens. It's the catalyst for monumental improvements in fitness and racing. So, keep belief at the foref...
How to Run the Right Effort | Full Training Week

Training for distance running is a balancing act between hard and easy efforts. Not to mention that each phase of a training block is designed uniquely. Sometimes, the primary goal of a training block is to build aerobic strength (the base phase), and sometimes, the goal is to run anaerobic efforts that build up copious amounts of lactic acid in the legs and allow you to peak in competitive rac...
How to Make Running Feel Effortless

A lot of people ask me how to make running feel easier. There are a few different answers to this question, and while there is no shortcut, I think a big key is to integrate running into your life as something that you naturally do and enjoy instead of something that feels like a burden. Instead of approaching running as something you "have to do" it needs to be approached as something you natu...

      @@user-oo1sc8ij9j thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. In my opinion, the summer should be fun and low stress. When I do the tempo or threshold work each week, it’s designed in a way where I’m building up my aerobic base and setting the stage for big and fast anaerobic and neuromuscular workouts later in the season. I try to expand the size of that base the best that I can in the summer with easy mileage, long runs, and tempos, but by the time late September and October roll around, we’re crushing workouts that are at race pace or faster which allows us to progress throughout the season. Just some of my thoughts on training that you definitely didn’t ask for hahaha. But figured I’d break it down

    • @TheBrockKelly
      @TheBrockKelly Před 6 dny

      Yeah! The way I like to do it is by easing off into them. So if I’m going for 15 miles (like in this video) then I’ll do the first 3 miles at a comfortable pace before cutting down to a moderate pace. That moderate pace is kind of like a long tempo. It’s not an easy run pace, but it’s not a race. It’s a controlled, long, uptempo effort. You’ll know when you find the sweet spot. But for starters, just run them faster than you are now and see where it takes you. If your body doesn’t respond well after a few weeks, then pull off the gas and go back to how you were doing them before. Hope this helps!
